You're welcome. I don't have either Hulu or Netflix lol. I watched The Mandalorian by *ahem* other means.

Ya I've heard about it on The Perfect Organism podcast but then it was just speculation. It's good to hear that there is more than just talk about it.

What I got to say so far is that I can't say I care about the idea of an Earth setting. Over on discord a lot of the guys seem hyped about because they're hoping they're adapting The Earth War comics. I really hope they aren't and doubt they are any way.

Alien on Earth. Is Ripley in it?

I'm kind of skeptical, but nevertheless eager to see it. If Ridley is involved can't be bad.

I doubt Ripley is in it. I think it's likely running off the same concept Noah Hawley related recently. Here's the link

It has to have a damn good script if it happens on Earth.

Will it have some WY and androids conspiracy? Or it will be like one of the werewolves films, where the werewolf is replaced by Alien?

I did not watch Legion / Fargo, I guess it's about time to give them a try.

On Earth?! Must be a budget thing.

This sounds more like a Predator series.

Maybe it takes place in a space station in orbit.....I hope it has some space action? IMHO won't be Alien without.

ChestbursterMember665 XPDec-11-2020 5:49 AM

It's will be like a cyberpunk. But without neon and cybernetic implants. A mix between horror and intense action.

Perhaps, it will be a story after Isolation. Amanda Ripley return to Earth and find some xenotecnologies.

I also upvote for something like Earth War - a truly great story.

The show’s Twitter revealed: “Alien is currently in development at FX Networks. The first TV series based on the classic film series is helmed by Fargo and Legion’s Noah Hawley. Expect a scary thrill ride set not too far in the future here on Earth.”

Check it out below.

— Disney (@Disney) December 10, 2020

FX chief John Landgraf also said: “FX is moving quickly to bring audiences the first television series based on one of the greatest science- fiction horror classics ever made: ‘Alien.’ ‘Alien’ will be helmed by ‘Fargo’ and ‘Legion’s’ Noah Hawley stepping into the creator/executive producer chair, and FX is in advanced negotiations with Academy Award winner, Sir Ridley Scott, director of the first ‘Alien’ film and the sequel, ‘Alien: Covenant,’ to join the project as an Executive Producer. Set not too far into our future, it’s the first ‘Alien’ story set on Earth, and by blending both the timeless horror of the first ‘Alien’ film with the non-stop action of the second, it’s going to be a scary thrill ride that will blow people back in their seats.”

Additionally, we hear Ridley Scott will serve as an executive producer. There is no word yet on if Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley or any of the other characters from the saga will also be in the series. But we’ll keep you updated as we hear more. (source)

Fargo Is great, I've seen the first two seasons and I highly recommend.

And yeah I said the same thing about the budget in Alien Theory's discord server. It's worth noting we got a small look at Earth in a Covenant deleted scene. I'd say with Scott producing, Earth should probably resemble it somewhat.

I believe NOT! NOTTING!!!! absolutely 0! Ziltch! ZAAADDaaaa! Zip! Donut! LESS THAN :>) NOTHING, when it comes to news about anything related to Alien. In fact I do not even believe Disney really means to produce anything here at all.

This was all fake news from Disney to find out where Ridley's account is hiding after the loss on AC! LOOOOOOL

And if I were that guy I would hide my computers, change continents, go to crypto, change names, change wifes, YEP GET RID OF ALL THE *****S, ditch the kids, put on best disguise ever, change hair style, get new phone number, and yes even dare I say it be careful which web sites you ever go to ever again! and still they can find you with the satellites and phone networks through voice identification anywhere on the globe!

So no I think Disney is big liars! They have been talking about putting out a show for years and they never do! ALL LIES! LIES LIES LIES LIES LIES AND MORE LIES.....it never happens my men!!! IT NEVER HAPPENS.....and you know who just keeps talking about it? We do! we keep talking about it over and over and over and over and over! NO MORE!

Never again will I believe anything that some corp suit says from RAT LAND Corp offices.....this means less than nothing when it comes to these liars....they promise so much but never deliver.

I put curse on entire Disney world now!

Ahhhhhhhhh OOHHHHHHMMMMMMMMMMM! AAAAAHHHHHHH OOOOOOHHHHHHMMMMMM!

Curse can never be broken until Alien show is put on air!

This is real bad curse! Cannot be ever broken!

BlackAnt I have no idea how to address that statement lol. Only time will tell I guess.

My above image is the Earth scene from Covenant's deleted scenes.

As for Earth War, I agree they are good stories. I just don't think it's interesting for Alien to go back to 30 year old comics for inspiration.

Leto:

Please no connection to Ripley, they have already had her in four movies and Amanda in some material. Get new characters with no connection to that part of the universe. At least the prequels tried something new but you got to have writers that know how to write good material.

I agree with that Thoughts_Dreams. I'm tired of the whole "legasequal" gimmick(I had an aneurism trying to spell that).         There aren't too many good examples of it being successful and its really just pandering to casual fan's nostalgia.

Well i guess that TIME will TELL as to WHAT we are in Store for!

"it’s the first ‘Alien’ story set on Earth, and by blending both the timeless horror of the first ‘Alien’ film with the non-stop action of the second, it’s going to be a scary thrill ride that will blow people back in their seats.”

You could Read into that Completely Wrong..... it may get some Fans thinking.... OK so we gonna get Xenomorphs, we gonna First Encounter them Slowly so it be a Horror then to Deal with Menace its CALL in the Military for some ACTION!

Not saying that the ABOVE is what we WONT get, as well we come to that OLD CHESTNUT.... How many Fans could Accept or be Pleased with a ALIEN Franchise Venture if it has NO real ALIEN threat?  No Xenomorphs!

I think the BIGGEST thing we should Pay Attention to would be this FX teases, “Expect a scary thrill ride set not too far in the future here on Earth.”

So we are in the Year 2020 we are 102 Years before the Crew of the Nostromo come Face to Face with the FIRST TIME we had ever seen the ALIEN (Xenomorph).

To me the NEAR FUTURE is not going to be 100 Years, and so i think by NEAR they must mean in 20-50 Years which within Context to the ALIEN TIMELINE would be our Near Future.

Now to have a TV Series thats SET on Earth and if i ASSUME some Time before ALIEN and we are going to see Xenomorphs or Similar on Earth like what 25-75 Years before ALIEN then thats going to Contradict the First Movie and the Prequels.

WHY i think anything UP TO 2179 on Earth is going to CONFLICT with the Franchise if we are going to see Xenomorphs!

UNLESS.....

1) They are giving us a ALTERNATIVE UNIVERSE like how the Dark Knight Batman is NOT in the same Universe as the 1989 Movie or the NEXT ONE... would this UPSET some Fans?

2) This would be Considered as Canon and they are in effect going to REBOOT/RETCON some of the Franchise.

3) They maybe could Introduce a Different Horror to show that Mankind (well some Science/Weapons Division) is Genetically Messing about with something to Create a Horror...  WHY something like this would ACT as a Prequel to ALIEN if they decided to go for the Hill/Giler Draft the Red Cylinder Plot (The Company had Created the Xenomorph and LV-426 was a TRAP/TEST to see how their Perfected Bio-Weapon would Perform). Again how this would Explain the eventual Space Jockey, and also such a PLOT would UPSET the Fans...(If it leads to the Company had Created the Xenomorph).

I am NOT sure they would want to Destroy the Legacy of the Xenomorph, i am sure Disney are FULLY aware of  HOW some Fans feel this is what Alien Covenant had done.

I think we ALSO have to ask to WHY they ideally would want Ridley Scott on board if we Basically going for a ALIEN like Story that Evolved to a ALIENS Action during the TV Series.

If you listen to Ridley Scott over the last 5 Years or so then he seems to Feel and be Proud that with Prometheus he was looking at WAYS to go and Expand the Franchise BEYOND the Eggs, Queens and Ripley etc.

So i dont think they want Ridley Scott so he can go and give us Xenomorphs ;)  also i dont think this TV Show will Directly link with the Prequels but it may TOUCH ON some of the Themes of the Prequels and maybe THIS is WHY they want RS involved?

I have said before and i was going to Comment few days ago but i have been Busy on a Old Subject about a TV Series and the Avenues you can take that DONT have to be about or Connect to the Xenomorph or Ripley.

When you take out Xenomorphs and Ripley there is STILL quite a lot you can Explore with the Franchise, its JUST with the ALIEN Prefix your going to be Expected to Connect and show the Fans Xenomorphs....

when you look at the WHOLE FRANCHISE you can see we are looking at Corporate Greed, Personal Gain, Indications of Corporate Rivalry, CREATION and the Hubris of doing this...   Experimenting to Create/Engineer something and the Hubris/Hazard of such!

WHY would the Company in 2122 had wanted the Xenomorph and we see this Continued somewhat with Aliens but Certainly Alien 3, and so IF they OBTAINED a Specimen then WHAT NEXT?  We see that Alien R showed they Tried Again and OBTAINED their Specimen but Failed to Control/Contain it, but we see with Ripley  8 what a Genetic Specimen she was... who NEED to have Synthetics when you have Ripley 8, why Marines... when you have a Super Solider and you have something with more Use/Control than maybe a Xenomorph!

IF you have got this FAR then thanks for staying Tuned and NOW i will make my Point ;

WHAT if the Pursuit of Biological Warfare via  a Engineered Creation/Horror was something that the ALIEN Franchise Theatrically was NOT some of Mankinds First Rodeo?

so if we have some Company/Scientist go about TRYING to Play God, and Engineer/Experiment to Create some Perfect Life-form for whatever Purpose, but this WENT BUST... so they Abandoned It!

JANEK had said he had to Bomb a Outpost because some Scientists was Engineering/Creating something they SHOULD NOT and it Got Loose and so they had to DESTROY the Outpost with EVERYONE inside as they could NOT go and Risk whatever they was doing Escape..... well  if we had been $%£^%& about with Dangerous Stuff then.... who is to say we have NOT like Many Years prior?

And so some Humans had already maybe played their hands at Dr Moreau quite a while before we see DAVID go and do the same on Planet 4.   Certainly the Engineers had been playing Dr Moreau many Thousands of Years prior..

Such a PLOT would Uplift the Prequels Theme and ALIEN as far as the COMPANY AGENDA...  by that IF we have some Humans going about Many Years before ALIEN, who had been trying to Engineer Life but Create a Horror... then Many Many Years after this is Abandoned... when they Discover the Engineers Secrets/Experiments that they was doing and INDEED the Xenomorph this could GIVE a GREAT reason for WHY the Company are Interested because they have Discovered some Perfect Engineered Life-form that is BEYOND what Horrors some of Mankind may have attempted between 2040-280 ;)

Ridley Scott had indicated his sequel to AC would NOT be about Xenomorphs but WHAT KIND of a WORLD that David would Create and it would be about A.I but bare in mind he said the Replicants are A.I.  We know its UNLIKELY we would get a Continuation... but i was Drawn to that David would Engineer/Evolve those Human Embryos.... he had indicated he wanted to EVOLVE our Dr Shaw!

So if FX are considering such a PLOT about playing Dr Moreau and Creating/Engineering a Life-form which is based on Humans, then maybe this could be WHY they could want RS on-board to maybe see WHAT kind of Plans he had for WHAT KIND of a WORLD that David would Created. (more Specifically what Creations does he have in mind).

Another thing to Consider...

While its GREAT NEWS that Disney are willing to allow FX to Explore the Alien Franchise, a BIG thing is the FALL OUT from Alien covenant.... IF we get a TV Show thats VERY much ALIEN/ALIENS with Xenomorphs that are THROWN IN after say 1/3rd of Season 1... if this does-not WORK OUT... then it could mean LESS LIKELY that Disney would do a Movie!

Have they got a Movie in the Works? or was what RS had indicated before is just a TV Series?

Anyway so what i am trying to say is HOW MUCH of a Budget is going to be Given?  Because this has a Effect on WHAT you can SHOW as FAR as the Special Effects and SETS and getting some known Cast in.

Disneys Success with The Mandalorian came at about $100M for 8 Episodes, with a $10-12M Budget per Episode then a ALIEN TV Show could give us Somewhat Epic Battles and SETS and Effects and Xenomorphs!

Where as Raised by Wolves had a Much Lower Budget!

IF the Show will have a LOWER Budget of say $5M per Show then having it SET on Earth would SAVE on Money for Effects, having it set say 20-50 Years from NOW would mean LESS of the Space Explorations and Ships which SAVES on Effects and SETS.

Not having something too like the Xenomorphs could SAVE on the Budget...

Within the ALIEN Universe and Connected to Earth then a LOT has gone on that leads to Yutani and Weyland and maybe other Companies who are in Competition.  Could some of these had Conducted Experiments to CREATE something that Many Years latter with the Discovery of the Derelict they Discover another Engineered Bio-Weapon that Surpasses Everything that some Companies had Attempted to Engineer on Earth.

Hense GREAT INTEREST in ALIEN...

When you look at the Future on Earth, and THROW OUT the Moral Compass and you ADD to it Greed, than to WHAT kind of Extent could Mankind go and Create something be it A.I/Robots,  Clones/Replicants or something more Sinister!

So such a Plot could Connect and UPLIFT our Franchise in Context to the Company Agenda!

If this does well but Fans want more of a Connection to ALIEN... well a Season 2 could go Forwards like 50, 75, 100 Years and so be in the ALIEN MOVIE Franchise Time-Line and Connect more to our Xenomorph etc ;)

FacehuggerMember163 XPDec-11-2020 11:22 PM@BIGDAVE Glad to see you again :) The announcement speaks clearly and precisely from Disney is nothing subliminal, "ALIEN on Earth", then we already discarded a very important key factor that part of us was expecting, Peter Weyland and how this story started. I just pray they don't bring us another Starship Troopers and Space Marines.

What I'm interested in is the casting! Should give us a clue for the shows direction. Unknown cast or maybe some semi-star actors? Doubt they'll get a-list actor...but maybe some guest appearances.

FacehuggerMember163 XPDec-12-2020 6:47 AMRS will be involved in Guzzi and Last Duel proyect next year, he only appears as a producer, we will have to be alert, I just want to see Guy Pearce in the cast again, this would be a return in good line, I do not want a second Colonial Marines fighting with bugs as Alien Isolation style.

You all sound like juvenile school girls in locker room talking about which boyfriends interest you most.

But besides these embarrassing unnecessary and painful things what bothers me more is fact that this entire program will never be made...Disney is a big liar and always has been.

They say they will do this and that of course they never do.

Disney does not even have a script for this show. It has no ideas and does not even know what it could or could not produce...so this is big no no in the entertainment industry...it is worse than lies to hard earning paying public that has supported this franchise.

In this life never promise a thing and not deliver. This is very bad mistake of Disney executive dogs.

When you say a thing you must do a thing or else.

Or else the people who are smart enough can never trust you again. So time and again Disney talks so much about this or that project but never does what come out of it's mouth.

BigDave

DeaconMember10134 XPDec-13-2020 9:28 AM

@BlackAnt

I Guess all we can do is WAIT and see, then we will KNOW if Disney are just toying with us......

@Roger G

I think what we have to look at is the TIME-LINE if they are going to give us Xenomorphs or something that is Related (so has its Origins from LV-223/426) then you CANT go and make a TV Show with such that is SET say prior to 2100 as it would CONFLICT the Franchise.

Unless as we see with Comics and Novels we could get some alternative Time Lines....  oh well maybe we would see a Spider Man vs Alien TV show instead lol  i wonder if Ant-Man could Control the Xenomorph ;)

But on a Serious Note then its also a case of WHAT would the Fans see as Relatble to the ALIEN Franchise... the Main things are Ripley and the Xenomorph, then you would have to say the Weyland-Yutani Company and Synthetics and Colonial Marines.  Thats without looking at the Space Jockey/Engineers which are also VERY Connected to our Franchise Origins.

If we are having a TV Show that is SET much prior to the ALIEN Franchise, so we looking at 2040-2080 say and its SET on Earth, i think that THROWS out the Window Ripley and Xenomorphs.  Oh and Space Jockey/Engineers too.

Your then your left with Weyland and Yutani, maybe the Marines and Synthetics... if you ALSO take them out then its HOW can this TV show Constitute itself to being within the ALIEN Universe?

I think the KEY thing is to wonder Exactly to WHERE in the Near Future are we talking to me the Near Future has to mean within like a Generation from Now.

Also to be SET on Earth means we maybe WONT be seeing so much Space Ships and Interstellar Travel.  Looking at the ALIEN Franchise in 2122 you get the Impression that Mankind may have been Interstellar Space Faring for like 50-75 Years.

How would they do a ALIEN TV Show if the Time-Line is 2047-2072?  Would there be enough to have Fans see and Accept its within the ALIEN UNIVERSE.... as some had a Hard Time into buying into Prometheus being Connected.

Wow, a very good idea! Aliens are not evil. They live as they can. Over time, they will learn, and together with people will defeat WY and build a joint future.

Aliens are not enemies to us. They are a budding civilization and they need a helping hand!
