I feel here in this forum we are hopelessly optimistic and we believe Ridley Scott can bring back the Alien franchise to its former glory. But not everybody seems so convinced about that. In one of his latest videos, Mr H switched from his usual fan oriented plot breakdowns and theories to a scathing opinion piece about the state of the franchise. He had something to say about the "yes men" around Ridley Scott and the marketing department overblown taglines talking about masterpieces and such. I personally share his opinion to a certain degree. I think Covenant was as good as its screenplay (which is not to say much); therefore I trust Ridley can make a great movie from a great script. I just worry about the uphill battle ahead of 20th Century Fox in order to convince the audience that Ridley Scott deserves another chance.

Pretty much agree with this video although I still enjoy AC. The biggest deal to me was around the 5:40 mark when he called BS on having to wait for another installment for answers or be required to read outside material to get it- a movie should be self contained.

Poor old FOX, they don't have the best track record for marketing their products appropriately...

its amazing how badly Fox screwed up Joss Whedon's Firefly

The original premiere of Firefly was promoted with the Smash Mouth song, Walking on the sun......... o_0

The Alien franchise is in the best state it's ever been in. Covenant is better than all the previous movies, so Ridley Scott should just make the sequel he wants to make

Thanks Joylitt. They have done a lot of crap in the prequels and also in the AVP's and AR.

I would puke if it will be the case that David created the original Xeno.

Scott should stay away from the script. He has said some crap like David created the Xeno and the beast is cooked. Maybe he is a good director/visualist but he should stay away from the story writing.

Much of what is being said in this video makes a lot of sense.

Hopefully the Engineers will be back in the next movies more menacing compared to Prometheus and Alien Covenant. I wold much rater have well done Engineers than an AI story and no it isn't too late to save this mess that it is currently in.
