Fan Edit of Alien:Covenant Suggestions

Only by using deleted scenes and shorts, how would you edit Alien:Covenant and why.

What would you remove, rescore or replace?

How about the color grading or brightness?

Advent, Last Supper should sure as hell be in the film. Phobos and the letters to home clips make great supplementary clips on a DVD, they really help flesh out the characters but inserted into the film would kill the pacing.

I would use more of the promo footage of the teams shoulder cams during the initial investigation and when the neomorph confrontations went down and less of the crumby CGI.

I would have included the Last Supper, for sure before the Neutrino burst incident, also the Crossing needs to be in the back-story, somewhere?  Also, some type of explanation of the Engineers 'ways' David spoke of learning about?

As a whole, I would have liked the movie a bit brighter, so it was not so hard to see?  I could hardly tell what had happened in the Neomorph attack in the wheat field, as it was so rushed & dark.  I could hardly tell Walter had lost his hand, had there been no dialogue on it?

I am going to get the Blu-Ray as soon as I can, to slow some scenes down & analyze further.

I agree that the Last Supper, Crossing at least be included. I'll also do brightness tests on the darker scenes to see if it makes things any better.

I would open it with the extended Weyland/David convo, introduce the Covenant crew via the Last Supper prologue, and switch out the scene where Daniels is in her quarters with Branson's video with the bedroom flashback. In the second act, I would definitely include the extended plaza sequence and merge the Crossing prologue with the sequence where David bombs the Engineers upon his arrival. If those specific scenes were reinstated in a fan edit, those would be my ideal inclusions. Advent was super interesting, but I don't know how it would fit within the movie itself, unless it was inserted as a mid-credits thing.

also, mabye somehow add some of the SHE WONT GO QUEIETLY clip. when she is getting ammo in her gun and especially the 4 meters above you part. you could also add the lunar auidi quatro into it. If you properly eddit the two, it could seem like daniells is controlling the rover while asking mother were the alien is. these 2 clips were the most suspenseful parts of the movie. if possible also add acrobatic xenomorph jumping off walls in red lighting.

Great stuff Derdex. Looks like there's a lot of stuff to be done. Since promo vids were converted by Youtube, i doubt i could remove the music. I want to use "She Won't Go Quietly" but as you know the music isn't really fitting even for the promo itself lol.

Advent, Phobos, and The last supper should be in the movie. I would like to see more that would make them into believable characters that we can care for. Eventually I would cut a lot of the android things and replace some of that with scenes that flesh out human characters and how they interact with each other. The differences between Walter and David is interesting but the movie suffers from too much focus on the AI ideas.

The monsters would be given more time so you can see how humans struggle to kill them but still fail. The monster action was cut too sort and they focused too much on AI, sigh.

To be honest, I don't think Phobos really fits with the look and pacing of the film. Kind of like the David 8 promo, it's one of those videos that is super interesting and provides deeper context but best left outside of the main narrative, otherwise it feels shoved in.
