MemberOvomorphApr-11-2017 6:40 AMHey folks,
I can say, without a doubt, I am pretty hyped up about the upcoming movie. I just recently started watching all the old Alien movies. Damn I love them. Even though they are quite old now, they still are pleasent to watch. I got them on Blu Ray and watch them upscaled to 4k. I gotta tell you guys those old movies look bad ass.
Those movies are all in all just good entertaining movies in all regards. Cinematogrophy, interesting-emotional connected Characters and character development, good stories and backstories, well chosen Art of Horror and Scares. Less jump scares, like just to serve the purpose of having them in the movies. More like the over all feel of Danger and unpleasent (scaring) atmosphere.
I feel and think in the movies from the early 80s. Action/Horror Movies made in Hollywood have had kinda Pause scenes for deeper story development and building a larger scale world around the characters and plot.
Nowadays a lot of big hollywood blockbuster based on the genre they are way more fast paced. Jmup from one jumpscare - another visual effect - another jumpscare and quicker and quicker. The playtime of a movie doesnt allow much more time for those talked about pauses in the movie. Thats kinda disappointing to see.
Critics say the new generation of movie goers want everything quicker and faster and more effectful rather than boring talks of characters.
Best example Star Wars Rogue One i had high hopes for a good Star Wars movie. I went out of the movie rather disappointment. Poor charaterisation. In my opininon a star wars movie full of scenes to just show big visual effects fights and such. The story and backstory was very little to go by. No time for longer talks of the characters. Move from one action scene to another.
Same with King Kong Skull Island. That movie felt also rushed through.big Spider Scene - big tree monster scene couple of seconds - big octopus scene - etc. I remeber sitting in the cinema thinking why so quick i want longer shots with those other creatures and monsters too. Just a couple of seconds maybe longer or a minute or so. Dont know. I felt like unpleased cause how quick the scenes were going by.
I really hope Ridley Scott sticks and goes back to the roots of slow build ups and a scary unpleasent long lasting through the movie wype.
Not a quick rushed, boring, no emotional feelings to characters, full of jumpscared horror movie bull**** a lot of horror movies are today.
I dont want to be disappointed, again. Please!
Maybe I should lower my expectations?!

MemberFacehuggerApr-11-2017 11:59 AMI hate The Force Awakens for it's weak ass story and disliked Rogue One for it's flat characters. Don't get me started on Jurassic World.
I am sick of shitty reboots, sequels and prequels. But i don't mind Alien: Covenant, because although i am not a fan of Prometheus, i think it brought a lot of new things into the Alien universe. The new Jurassic Park or Force Awakens brought nothing.
I am still worried about Covenant tho. Because i feel like Ridley was pressured into including actual xenomorphs in this one. My theory is that in order to make his proper sequel to Prometheus (Awakening), he had to give the studio a proper Alien film.
I am afraid that they will end this film on a huge cliffhanger, i am also afraid of unnecessary violence "to please the fans".

MemberFacehuggerApr-11-2017 12:17 PM@Arachon I couldn't agree more! You said everything. However, I don't feel too much concerned about AC, just because it's Sir Ridley we're talking about. The slow paced storyline fits well the purposes of Prometheus - maybe AC is actually about "pandemonium" and mass destruction, not excluding the deep background of the "why's", what would serve both the story and the 'studio'.
@Edgy Name I hate The Force Awakens exactly because of the same reasons. I commented on that in a YouTube video and almost got murdered. I felt so frustrated that I didn't even watch Rogue One. I just lost interest, and still feel bad about it, Star Wars was my favorite franchise along with Alien and had such an important place in my childhood. PLEASE, don't let it happen again.

MemberChestbursterApr-11-2017 1:11 PMThere are going to be "disappointments" with "A:C". It's just human nature. Hell, it could be as good as "Alien" or better, but with social media nowadays, and the way people are so quick to want to tear everything down, people are going to join a "mob mentality" and attack it, no matter how good it is.
My advice? Don't get on social media. Don't read reviews. Don't let other people affect your opinion and enjoyment of this or any other movie. Let the movie be what it is. You didn't make it. I didn't make it. It was a team of people directed by SRS and Fox that made it, and it is THEIR vision, not ours. Anyone not on that team is going to find a "disappointment" or two.
So what? Enjoy it for what it is and be thankful we have this Universe to enjoy, no matter what it brings us!

MemberTrilobiteApr-11-2017 5:14 PMI have higher expectations and confidence in AC since I am one of the few who didn't care much for Prometheus except for David's involvement.
