I would have made them taller and more space-jockey like, not a man in a suit.
Obsession is a Power, not a Curse ;)

@movie fan @dk I certainly agree with both of you. I wasn't excited by their "look" at all, even overlooking the bad CGI used to make them.

I would have made them more alien (bad pun) and I would also have made their DNA being 85% like us instead of an exact match. Having them as a genetic copy of humans was one of the things that made Prometheus disappointing.

@Thoughts_Dreams That is also a concept I didn't like, either. Curse you Lindelof.

Cgi?
Are you guys trolling?
The only time i saw cgi was when the first one drank the black stuff, then the time when the other gets into the pressure suit. Am i missing something?

It was a bold and controversial idea that you either love or hate.
I didn't like the design at all, but the origin idea that we look like them because they made us/we're based on them would certainly be interesting if it wasn't for the fact that Ridley recently rejected that fact.

What made them even less interesting imo was that Prometheus focused more on the effects of the goo to give us a freakshow of creatures; hammerpede, Hulk Smash Fifield (in stores soon!) the trilobite and the deacon, rather than revealing more about the Engineer race towards the end of the film (considering all the promo pictures of them), where we got a very very angry engineer dude who had a rather Voorheesian approach (without the machete) towards the crew.
Missed opportunity is the best way to put it.
I don't like how they look but now that they're already in the picture, it would be a good idea to add some more depth to them. Who knows, maybe and hopefully I'll start to appreciate the engineers a bit more if some interesting lore is retrofitted to them in future films.
(I can't believe I just wrote that)

What bothers me the most about the engineers is their size. If they couldn't make them taller because of budget issues, then why include them at all.
I'm also one of those still hoping that the engineers aren't space jockeys. Engineers worshiping and imitating "space jockeys" would justify the differences but similarities between their tech.
One can still dream..

I was intrigued by the Engineers and really liked how they looked. The first thing I noticed was the features of their suits. They resembled the Xenomorph so much and i kept making connections. The rib cage, the arms, little details all added up.

I thought it was necessary IMO for them to look like they did to help portray a connection. I'm very excited to see more so called races/species of humanoids that are rumored and definitely interested in who created the engineers/us and the xeno in the alien universe.

I rather liked their design. It went completely against my expectations, which rarely happens when I see movies anymore. (And I like it when it does).

@Edgy Name Yes, they used CGI to "treat" the actors' faces, a la "Rogue One" (Tarkin/Princess Leia). Notice how they sort of "glow"? That's a dead giveaway, as the lighting never matches exactly.

@Starlogger
I don't really understand what you're seeing. Tarkin & Leia in "Rogue One" were full CGI animated faces & they look it.
The Engineers were actors in prosthetics with post effects, they don't look like CGI faces because they aren't....

@WhiteGoo They certainly are treated. Whatever it is, it looks terrible and fake.

@Starlogger
What makes them look fake is probably the color grading or post-processing. As you can see here, he's a guy in a suit
I do get why you feel that way tho.

@Edgy yeah, that's it...the post...it's just too fake looking for me. Too "glowy"...

I think it's a bit of both for me. They are great, expecially the ones on LV-223, but at the same time they could have been better.....

I actually did like the Engineers and i felt it added a interesting new Dimension to the Franchise rather than the Overcooked Xenomorph. And i am now worried we could see the Engineers wiped under the carpet and Spoon Fed 3-4 more Xeno Flicks.
The Engineers and Space Jockey Suits were all Practical Effects with just some after effects to add a bit of Gloss and Polish to them.
Its only the Sacrificial Scene that is CGI once we cut to where the Engineer starts to arch forwards in pain.
