Starlogger
MemberChestbursterJan-23-2017 7:41 PMWhat a load of crock. I'm tired of hearing about it. It's weak, stupid, and without merit.
If there's something I'm missing with the concept, please...enlighten me. Otherwise it is just a damn stupid escape mechanism.

MemberNeomorphJan-27-2017 7:16 AMI want to be entertained just like everyone else when I watch a movie. the thing is I for one look at alien as being some what different to 99% of the movies out there. I want the derelict scene answered in a way that is fitting to the original alien story. people have waited over 30 years for that scene to be answered and to answer it just to entertain isn't how ridley should be doing this. for me, when ridley did alien then started listening to people ask him questions over the years about the SJ and the eggs, he started getting visions in his head about the possibilities. he has even gone as far as to say this himself over the years. even he has the same questions as the fans and the whole point of the prequel trilogy is to answer them, obviously entertaining at the same time. now I for one do not believe that over these years ridleys favoured answer to these questions was 'an android did it'. id wager a years salary his best and most satisfying visions were of the xeno being a bio weapon for some war and there is a long standing history between the engineers and xenos etc, much more indepth. but if it turns out that hes going down the 'david did it' route, and I am only speaking for myself and my own opinion, I will be absolutely disgusted in him. now I know he can make it look brilliant on screen but can u honestly say u could watch the derelict scene in alien again the same way? the possibilities r endless with this trilogy and to go with the android answer to me is weak and a cop out. I get fox want money but cmon, the guy is gna make them a bucket load no matter what he does with these movies and the reason for that? is because of the original alien movie and that derelict scene. its the whole reason wer here, watching the films and debating. theyr money is in the bank so give us answers that are fitting to the original. I defend Prometheus as some of u know because I have faith the man has a larger vision. what do u think of the 'david caused it' ending to the trilogy? would the derelict scene in alien ever be the same for u? I know it depends on how he does it but u must have an opinion just now

MemberFacehuggerJan-27-2017 9:49 AMI understand what you're saying @ali81. I think as you point out, at the time of Alien and the appearance of the SJ and Derelict, I don't think there was a defined back story. That's part of the gravity - the moment we see those scenes - a real 'what the hell' moment.
For me, if it turns out David is somehow an involved in the pre-Derelict storyline, I think that fits with the tone and direction the Franchise took with androids. To me, that will answer the 'how they got there' bit. Answers about Engineers and black goo, where they came from and their history gives food for further movies.
I wonder - the eggs in the Derelict appear to produce Facehuggers perfectly proportioned to human heads. They appear to be smaller than the eggs in the AC trailer, and possibly the Facehugger that we also see. Is David's aim to refine the 'perfect organism' for use against humans, and set a trap on LV-426, giving his 'makers' (the Company as a proxy for the deceased Weyland) what they wanted, and finish what the Engineers had planned, given he apparently may now see himself as a God?
The first part of this plan seems like it involves Shaw and possibly one or more Engineers (perhaps similar to @Tiago_miami_la's AC opening scene post) to produce eggs (perhaps 'Engineer size'). The next step is to refine their size, then lastly, produce enough for a 'colony' of humans and set the trap?
I really don't know. Just speculating, but it does seem the size of the eggs could be more than a continuity issue, and the eggs on the Derelict were 'designed' to be human sized.

MemberFacehuggerJan-27-2017 10:00 AMI like both visions and the size of the eggs is intriguing..
I woudnt mind david playing part on lv 426 derelict.
I would prefer tho if in a movie after ac we could get back to lv 223 and see what happened there, and possibly the derelict making its departure from there my biggest issue is the time and fossilized sj so i really would rather this happened before prometheus. I also woudnt mind to know lv 223 was the true planet of the xenomorph origin.

I definitely think we will be going back to lv223 due to the deacon being there. I don think ridley will just leave its fate unknown. I like the thought of engineers turning up due to the juggernaught taking off and crashing or theyv picked up shaws warning and come to investigate, then humans arrive in an expedition to find out what happened to Prometheus, theyr trillion dollar investment. they maybe find the deacon, engineers and possibly a hive responsible for the original attack on the facility on lv223?

MemberFacehuggerJan-27-2017 10:27 AMI think further exploration of LV-223 will come later (at least as part of a wider story I hope).
I'm not sure about the fossilised SJ. Dallas, Kane and Lambert, thought it looked fossilised at the time, and the inference was that it was a creature with an exoskeleton and the bones were fossilised (surely they meant petrified). As of Prometheus, the probability is that it's an Engineer and/or a biosuit.
There are a number of things that seem like they could be connected or the potential direction for the linking up to Alien. If David has some involvement in what Dallas etc discover inside the Derelict (a cache of eggs for his 'makers'), then it may be possible he staged the ship with a dead Engineer (and/or biosuit) he could have retrieved from LV-223, the Juggernaut, or another location (such as on 'Paradise'). Possible, but perhaps not probable.
To me, this is all leading to a more complex and interesting story. Whatever David may do in AC, it appears to be clear he is dabbling in the 'technology of the Gods' - the theme of messing with things you shouldn't, and the consequences of that, is running though the entire franchise. I think it also gives weight to Ash and Bishop's fascination with the face huggers, and possibly a subtle undercurrent that they were somehow familiar....

MemberNeomorphJan-27-2017 10:33 AMpossible lessons not learned. the murals suggest a long history between the engineer and the xeno. going along the creation theory, I would say the engineer created the xeno and have been pretty much wiped out by theyr creation and now we risk the same fate

MemberFacehuggerJan-27-2017 10:49 AMYep - there is definitely a prominent 'history repeating' subtext.

Ali and muzz
The mural to me shows a deaconish creature rather then classic xeno above it a huge queen head shell ( this could be resemblance or just design but it does have resemblances) the eggs and facehuggers and engineers being facehugged.bald beings.
Theres no doubt to me deacon in adult form would be sort like ultramorph in size, and i would love to get back to it rather then leaving lv 223 and its fate to imagination,it holds so many answers. Its where black goo was made and handled and engineered to me.
Derelict is carrying the eggs we know..i like to think they were carrying the rest of the variations on the rest of the chambers xeno and queen but they all died fighting each other...i like to think its a scientific vessel rather then military one and that was derived from human hosts experimentations since they are classic eggs with classic xenos.
I also like the idea it came from lv 223 in thousands of years time period before prometheus..around the time of the outbreak in lv 223 to a unknown destination..not earth..i also want to think lv 223 and lv 426 are connected not only because of the derelict crash but beyond that.
I like to think they are weapons but also have terraform applications , armor, biologic applications etc. Its no coincidence the suits of engineers are xeno design.
In ac we have a more primeval version of the xeno with a more nature bigger looking egg..both more primitive and organic.
So if david makes it or if he finds them already on paradise, we dont know yet,but i want it to be shaw,i see potential.
But i woudnt see it far fetched if paradise is the true origin of the original xenomorph specie...since they appear to be not engineered yet ,still have their nature form..and the eggs in the cave could be there for ages before david even touches paradise..but how would the engineer elders or community survive with this wild beasts in paradise...far fetched..but the egg and proto design is interesting
Ac will give us a lot of insight into xeno creation hopefully
Paradise maybe thats where they trully worshippped them..and its their divine holy grail on original nature form,
I dont like however the route of david grabbing the xeno and making it more biomech.
The engineer suits, the classic xenos..the primitive xeno, primitive egg ,there must be a reason beyond design choices.

MemberNeomorphJan-27-2017 11:44 AMI think all the different versions of alien should resemble each other in some fashion. they could have evolved from one species or strain of dna, such as how dogs are all evolved from the wolf. theyr are differences, obvious ones, but the base structures r very similar

MemberChestbursterJan-27-2017 12:41 PMI completely agree. I'm hoping at some point we will get to see something like this (which I believe was inspired by Spaihts draft.)
ali81
MemberNeomorphJan-27-2017 12:47 PMis that a form of the trilobite? cant make it out to clearly on the works computer
QueenElizabethShaw
MemberChestbursterJan-27-2017 2:36 PMIn Spaihts draft, Holloway is impregnated by a facehugger who's description matches that of a small trilobite. If I'm not mistaken, that image I posted is concept art for the resulting chestburster. Here are the excerpts from the Spaihts draft:
p.71 (Holloway's Chestburster)
"[Holloway] begins to convulse. She rolls him onto the bed beside her, trying to contain his spasms. His teeth grind...
...A horrible CRACK. In the middle of Holloway’s chest, beneath the sternum, a grotesque head pushes out through the skin...
...Blood fountains from the ruinous wound. Holloway goes into a massive seizure. Violently lashing out. Watts stares at the parasite fighting its way out of his body. It is white and boneless. Glistening. It flails its hideous lunging jaw. Watts screams and screams. The parasite frees itself from its savage womb and turns on Watts. She slaps at it blindly. It HISSES at her. She squirms away across the floor, tangled in the bloody sheet. The thing comes after her...
...The parasite chases Watts across the floor. She leaps into the clothes-locker and slams the steel door. The parasite flattens itself. Slick as an octopus, it begins to slide under the locker door. Watts shrieks in horror. Stillwell bursts into the cabin, Janek right behind him. Quick as a cat, the parasite darts to a floor vent and slithers bonelessly between the bars. Watts bursts out of the locker, naked and bloodied. Rushes to Holloway where he lies on the gory mattress, a horrific hole in his chest. He is beyond all help."
p.79 (Watts [aka Shaw] discovering the hologram record of Holloway's impregnation)
"Holloway’s headlamp shines on the molluscoid right overhead: the beam awakens the organism. Its sphincter mouth dilates. A soft white octopoid FACEHUGGER descends on a quivering rope of mucus. Sprawls slitheringly over his clear visor. Acid HISSES. Smoke rises from the glass."
p.84-85 (Xeno egg/hugger for extra context)
"...a huge cargo hold full of Alien eggs. The wide trench holding hundreds of eggs under a membrane of light: an evolution of the molluscoids Watts saw before. Armored, hardened, darker....
...This ship has seven other cargo bays like this one. The eggs in each bay slightly different. They’ve been weaponized....
...an Alien egg....
...fleshy petals folding wetly back...
...A facehugger emerges from the egg, its grotesque fingers clawing at the air. This is not the boneless squid that attacked Holloway; this is a pale skeletal hand, armored...."

MemberNeomorphJan-27-2017 3:41 PMlol curiously iv just read spaihts' script online. definitely isn't in the form of a xeno when it bursts out but depends which species the hugger was weaponised to attack. could very well be it as even the adult is able to shift its form much like in the way an octopus does.
