According to a site called 'Breathecast,' Guy Pearce as agreed to return for the Prometheus sequel for "flashback scenes," and apparently, he as already begun filming the scenes. I don't know if there is any truth to this. I'm very skeptical! What does everyone else think?

The poster was good though!

Well i am going to take this with a pinch of salt.....  as lots of recent rumours seem to be going the same route.

Which is against the comments that Ridley made after Prometheus about the Sequel, and thats regarding David and Shaw and off to seek God/Engineer Home World and also the comments about the purpose of Prometheus which was to show us who these Space Jockey/Engineers are and their connection with us and ask big questions where are we from and where do we go when we die.

If the rumours are true they are not not going that route, now touching upon that route is a tricky one its the reason i abandoned my own Draft as i just could not come up with one solid story for the Engineers and their Agenda and History its a hard plot to do justice.

My concerns are this sequel is looking to be a evern bigger disapointment than Prometheus, and one that will now ignore the biggest mystrey from Alien and also set from Prometheus to purely show us how the Weyland Company form and somehow show how they had some knowledge of the Xeno prior to Alien.

To me that says a mission to LV 223 and now fear they are going to go the route to set up something that happens on LV 223 to be shown as the Genesis of the Xeno.

=========================

Anyway going back to the main OT, yes Guy Pearce in Flash Backs could work but i dont think the emphasise should be on Peter Weyland so much, as well lets see how these Flash Backs will work.

In Order to portray a younger say Guy Pearce in his 40s so no make up then these Flash Backs would have to be from a time set 50 years or so before Prometheus.

2035 Weyland is aged 40 David 3 is released after after Android Regulations are Lifted.

2039 Weyland is aged 44 and his company discover LV426

2042 Weyland is aged 47 and David 4 is released now David models are more advanced and for the first time they arecommercially available.

2052 Weyland is aged 57 and David 5 model is released.

2056 Weyland is aged 61 and the Famous Aliens Power Loader Mech Suit is invented.

These events or others around that time frame where Guy Pearce would be able to appear without wearing any significant make up.

They could have events from 2023 Ted Talk i suppose as Weyland was aged 28 and suppose we could be fooled into that if they air brush him to look younger.

But if they are to show Flash Backs after 2060-1965 then some minor make up would be needed at the times of the Medpod and David 6 Patents.

What i am saying is any Flash Back would have to be 30 years+ prior to Prometheus if they wish to cast Guy Pearce as he is with little make up added etc....

There is other ways a 46 year old Guy Pearce could be cast into a more latter time frame and those could be....

1) Clone...

2) Android..

3) Hologram..

4) Memories in David 8s sub routine programing.

i would go for 4th as discribed in other post, in that David 8 has some malfunction and interacts with a Weyland that is not actually there.

Sounds like a lot of BULL to me.

For starters, Scott has NOT begun shooting The Martian yet. The producer himself stated merely two weeks ago that filming would begin in the Fall. No other cast members have even been announced yet.

Secondly, where did they get that alleged quote from Mr. Scott? Nobody knows.

Third, why would such breaking "secretive" news (regarding Pearce's shooting) be reported by such an unimportant site instead of Deadline or THR or Variety?

Fourth, the writing of the article is so pedestrian it makes a non-native English speaker like me shake my head in disbelief.

Please. I don't buy any of it. ANY of it.

Looking thought the fine print of this article, much of it comes under the word 'claim'. In the most part it is only re-iterating a previous article in Moviepilot, with bits of discussions I have only seen on this site. Hopefully it won't be long though, before some real news does break.

@Cremildo

Exactly this article seems to have maybe came from the other week where Guy Pearce said he would welcome a return in Part 2 in some kind of role even as cameo.

Thats not to say he has been cast and as you said i cant see any scenes shot yet.

I would ASSUME that they have only got as far as doing rough sketch work and ideas to accompany the drafts that are being worked on, we do not know if any draft is final yet.

And so ontop of that they would be looking at shooting locations, but would be a way off from Shooting the movie yet, i cant see nothing being started until at least October time, and maybe not even then.

Another thing is we have heard nothing offical from Scot or Fox, yes we had rumours that there would be multiple Davids, but Ridley has not commented about the sequel or what it could be about for a log time and last time he was still seemingly going the route of David and Shaw on that Juggernaught off to Paradise.... or where ever David intends to go too once he is put back together.

=================================

I would like to futher add that this could take a long time to even get a working draft, as this movie has a lot of questions to answer not only from Alien but others raised in Prometheus, by opening the Pandoras Box of having the Space Jockey as some ancient Engineer Race who created life on Earth and us, and maybe life all over the Galaxy.... this is a pretty big statement,  looking at what happend to the ones on LV 223, and where are the rest, were to they come from?  What is there Agenda and why create us to destroy us.

Well this is tough one to cover, due to the possibilities, its why i had trouble working on a draft. So showing us the above and then answering other questions is a big ask, maybe had they not gone for the Engineers=our creators route then it would not had been as hard.

So yeah this movie needs lot work to do the first movie and franchise justice and while they threw out the curve ball out Space Jockeys are Ancient Creators or Mankind, they cant just drop that ball now?

Or could they? Well they never touched upon who the Space Jockey was all these years so maybe they could not show us much about the Engineers... but i do think Part 2 will have to cover them more than Prometheus did.

I felt that things were getting unusually quiet until I saw this week end, the marketing machine getting behind the release of Exodus. I can’t really see much news being released about P2 for now whilst all eyes are focused on Exodus. Hopefully some hints might get dropped if Ridley is available for interview to promote this new feature.

Its as i have said a number of times, Alien is one of Ridleys best movies, due to other commitments he did not get to have any part in Aliens. Prometheus was his chance to tell the Tale of the Space Jockey Race and its connection with the Xeno, and i think Ridley did not get to tell everything he wanted to in the first movie, which is why i think he felt in needed one and maybe two sequels.

I am sure Ridley would not want to end up seeing Prometheus go the same way of Alien and by that i mean that he has nothing to do with the sequels, i am sure he would want to be a big part to the plot of any sequels.

Ridley is no spring chicken he is at the Age where you cant forsee what movies you are upto directing in 10 or 20 years time. Its for this reason i think Ridley would want to get Prometheus an Blade Runner movies done sooner rather than latter.

And by that maybe he may not have a full directors role but i am sure he would at some point if he has not done so already, sat down with Fox and flashed out his broad ideas for the franchise, and maybe his ideas and foxes are taken down and given to Paglen to work a draft around them and then Green to finish that draft.

I basically think Ridley would want to finish off filming all Prometheus sequels be there one or two within the next 3 years.
