Pretty sure this is a new video and written interview with Ridley Scott about the deleted scenes and blu-ray 20-30 mins extra footage!

RIDLEY SCOTT
Talks about how he really enjoyed making Prometheus and his desire to do the sequel. Also talks about how he thinks one of the biggest problems in our world is religion.
We talk about how hard it is to make a movie that deals with serious issues when it costs over a hundred million dollars to make.
How long was his first cut of Prometheus. Says it was 2 hrs. 27 minutes.
Is the version in theaters his directors cut or will the home video release be the director’s cut. Talks about how he regrets not releasing the longer version of Kingdom of Heaven as his directors cut.
3:22 – Says the Blu-ray will have around 30 minutes of deleted scenes.
3:45 – Talks about the deleted scene between Noomi Rapace and the engineer and why it was cut out of the film.
4:30 – Is the extended cut on the Blu-ray a lot longer than the theatrical release. Says that it might be 20 minutes longer (but the way he talks about it I’m not sure if he’s figured it out yet).
5:30 – Talks about a scene from the Blade Runner sequel.

MemberOvomorphJun-10-2012 7:49 PMAfter this interview I'll definitely have to watch the movie again (I was going to anyway). After all Janek and crew did act in a selfless manner, with no religious motivation. R.S. has years of experience in film making and storytelling, so he knows what he is doing. There is no question though, the movie was brutally beautiful, one of the best I've seen yet.

MemberOvomorphJun-10-2012 7:58 PMYep, the man is a genius at what he does.
I will always have a few problems with the movie but its still a great movie overall. The good far outweigh the bad.
Anyway, heres an older interview(but new to me at least) that has a lot of interesting stuff to read too -

MemberOvomorphJun-10-2012 7:59 PMIt was unclear if there will be an extended cut he kept repeating that the deleted scenes would appear in the dvd/ blue ray menu for those that want to see them but he seemed a little vague if those deleted scenes would actually be incorporated into an extended cut as he seems satisfied with the length of the theatrical release i really do hope we get the longer cut.
He talks about an extra twenty minutes of footage but wont commit as to weather they will be re sequenced back into film.

MemberOvomorphJun-10-2012 8:23 PMi KNEW there was more unused footage than what was said
not sure if said footage will be edited in, or even released..?
or if it could help remedy the initial disappointment i felt
when i left the theater this past friday night
in any case, i'm glad i pre-ordered the Bluray,
and hopefully i will get to see what Scott is referring to
time will tell...

MemberOvomorphJun-10-2012 8:25 PMDamn, only Blu-ray? Guess I'm out of luck, or I'll have to get a Blu-ray player.

Don't hesitate to buy a blu ray player! The quality is absolutely amazing, sharp and crystal clear. You don't want to go back to DVD trust me.

MemberOvomorphJun-10-2012 9:31 PMWhat I think RS says is that he will have the footage as a menu item selection, but he wasn't adding it in to the movie for an extended DVD version.

WhyDontTheyFreezeHim
MemberOvomorphJun-11-2012 6:42 AM@Spartan - Hes definitely having the footage as a menu item selection, but he also talks specifically about an extended version too. H e even says that some of the deleted scenes that will be in the menu selection, wont be going into the extended version.
The thing is, he didnt say that the extended version is a sure thing yet. Just the deleted scenes in the menu selection are a done deal at the moment.

MemberOvomorphJun-13-2012 10:38 PMI was expecting and hoping for a Director's Cut after the mess that was the cinema release, but this interview has pretty much buried any such expectations of mine. Ridley Scott is obviously perfectly happy with the movie the way it is and is reluctant to do anything more than put in the usual extra material onto the DVD/Blu-Ray release. It doesn't look like there will be an Extended Edition and even if there will be, it's clear that it won't be the big improvement everone's hoping for. It will at most be a few scenes that add to the mess just to appease the studio and the fans, not scenes that he was forced to cut out and that would clarify existing plot holes. He says in this interview that Kingdom of Heaven was the only release that wasn't his own Director's Cut from the start, because he had to cut out parts of a subplot. There's clearly nothing of that sort in store for Prometheus, unfortunately. Well, at least we won't have to wait in vain for nothing at all...
