OvomorphMember0 XPMay-30-2012 8:33 PMTo me, the only alien film that should have existed at this is ALIEN (1979). That was probably the one and only, I mean c'mon they got 150 million dollars ( give or take) and all the stardom in the world, and the best story they can come up with is this???? I can almost guarantee any alien fan will be dissapointed, I am.
You don\\\'t see them fucking each other over for a goddamn percentage!

PraetorianAdmin4321 XPMay-30-2012 8:40 PMAww that's not fair, I enjoy all the Alien movies, and even AVP. It's about amusement, that is the wonder of the cinema. :)

OvomorphMember0 XPMay-30-2012 8:18 PMIt's just there... they don't really act all the time like they're the crew of a billion dollar spaceship, and there's a real funny (perhaps out of place) dialog in the film between two crewmembers, and I just let my eyes roll haha
You don\\\'t see them fucking each other over for a goddamn percentage!

OvomorphMember0 XPMay-30-2012 8:27 PMFor me it is rather obvious at this point that:
1- Mature audiences, educated people in general and die hard Alien (1979) fans will be rather disappointed.
2- LIndeloff fanbase and most nerds in their mids 20s and 30's are gonna love it.
3- Newer generations who haven't seen the original Alien and are only familiar with the AVP movies are gonna love it.
4- Die hard fans of Ridley Scott will have biased opinions.
5- Most professional critics will be disappointed, but they won't let their scores reflect this sentiment because of Ridley Scott's legend status in the sci-fi genre.
6- Theaters owners will love it because the movie is going to make a lot of dough
7- My prediction: The sequel will be officially announced in a week or so. Probably only Lindeloff will be recruited this time.

OvomorphMember0 XPMay-30-2012 8:14 PM@Gimmeafacehug so where did you find the campy bits?

Svanya
PraetorianAdmin4321 XPMay-30-2012 8:10 PMI'm not worried, my expectations were always reasonable. :)

Gimm-e
OvomorphMember0 XPMay-30-2012 8:12 PMhmm...definitely intense, one of the most important scenes in terms of character development

OvomorphMember0 XPMay-30-2012 8:06 PM@Gimmeafacehug I've been pointing out the campiness of the dialogue, you can get that feeling from just watching the clips. One question for you: what did you think about the scene in which Theron chokes Fassbender (try not to be too spoilery though): Campy or intense: give your veredict :-)

PraetorianAdmin4321 XPMay-30-2012 7:37 PM@Gimmeafacehug; Ty for that honest review. Very kind of you to take the times to post it. :)

OvomorphMember0 XPMay-30-2012 7:38 PMI blame Ridley for allowing Lindelof anywhere near it. ****ing hack that guy is. I feel like starting a petition online to have him barred from writing anything for Hollywood anymore, he does not know a good story or how to finish anything off. Sloppy AND lazy.

OvomorphMember0 XPMay-30-2012 7:44 PMSorry guys,
i was really hoping to bring you good news about how epic and glorious it is, but it just isn't ( in my opinion). Again sorry, just lower your expectations, you'll enjoy it more.

OvomorphMember0 XPMay-30-2012 8:47 PMsaw it tonight. Saw all the Alien movies and this is in the top 2 !!
A great movie..
Nicely made.. great effects and the story is clear if you want to see it.
Clever and nice.
The only thing i did not get from it was the opening... Had to search online what they ment with that.. that could have been a bit more clear...
Other than that.. great movie indeed

Arkadine
OvomorphMember0 XPMay-30-2012 8:48 PM@Svanya I could tolerate the first AVP movie, but the second was just degrading. I just had to turn it off. Piranha 3DD must be better.

OvomorphMember0 XPMay-30-2012 8:51 PMI agree with you Cypher. Lindelofhead should never have been brought on to the Prometheos project. He is a perfect soap opera writer, those stories never end.

Gimm-e
OvomorphMember0 XPMay-30-2012 9:02 PMIt's not Ridley's fault, no way, he always said he has come from the visual side of things, and i believe him, he can't help it if Lindeloff or others screwed up. Because, visually, this movie currently has no equal.

OvomorphMember0 XPMay-30-2012 10:11 PMHang on, you're saying that Ridley had no hand in the script at all? Bollocks. Ridley is the one that hired Lindelof to re-write Spaight's script, so yes, he is to blame if the story sucks as much as Lindelof is, more actually I think for allowing it to get to that stage.

OvomorphMember0 XPMay-30-2012 11:58 PM@Gimmeafacehug;
Well, don’t kill Lindelof for this, just sent him away in South America where he will be better appreciated for his work on soap-operas… Or, if you want to keep him into United States, find him a job in “The Young and The Restless”…
I just read the wiki movie plot, and the end is like in the episodes of Lost…
A very bad taste…
I hoped for something else. A movie, a REAL movie, like any authentic art-work, need to have the END. “Alien” had the end. And Cameron work hard to find a good way to create the story for “Aliens”. Even “Alien Resurrection” starts its story (not a very original story, but…) from a movie with a solid END, the Alien3’s end...
So, on June 9, I will see “Prometheus 1” and I’ll be kind to accept the idea that, next year, I will must-see “Prometheus 2”…. But, if in “Prometheus 2”, Lindelof will create another end like this, for “Prometheus 3”… my reaction will be like the one I had when I saw the 5th episode from Lost: “the only lost thing in Lost in my time” (after one year, friends agreed with me, but with their own time).
Wish not to be totally disappointed about “Prometheus 1”, and wish not to have the feeling, after seeing it, that “I would liked to have seen Alien-5, not Prometheus 1, 2, 3, 4 ,5 ,6 ,7, 8, 9….”
(I apologies for my English)
