OvomorphMember0 XPApr-14-2012 5:26 PMGiven that we already have 3 odd centuries of mythos for the 4 movies in the Alien franchise that already exist, we basically know the outcome of this story in a sense...
THE ALIEN(s)? WILL NOT PREVAIL !
Or is the answer that they are for the most part already long dead & gone??
We know that based on the events of and after we meet the Nostromo crew in the first Alien movie, Earth has colonized SPACE and are harvesting minerals and resources for at least 500 Trillion Kilometeres in all directions?? (Zeta Reticulli alone is 390 Trillion Kilometers away!). There are NO encounters with ANY all powerful and all knowing space faring Alien races. The universe is basically "ours".
So then the obvious implication is that while everyone in the Prometheus expedition may end up perishing in this story, the EARTH itself remains safe... right??
So what do you think happens?...
- The Aliens were already dead and gone and the Prometheus crew have to deal with a few odd "hangers on?" ((Could all the Ampules be a form of masoleum?))
- The Aliens are NOT dead, but we end up setting off a cataclysm that ends up destroying them all?
- The Aliens are NOT dead, but they simply end up likening us to ants or mosquitoes pestering them at their "Summer Home" and move further off away from our nuisance?.
- The Aliens are NOT dead, and STILL have a very thriving all powerful and all knowing "Empire", but we enlist the aid of some indeginous furry locals who have just mastered "fire" and sharpened sticks.. Oh let say we call them "Ewoks" and this furrly little friends will end up inexplicably kicking the "Empires" ass?? ((Even though its obvious that the "Empire" still has occupied worlds throughout the universe and most probably still many, MANY, more ships))
- Or None of the above??

OvomorphMember0 XPApr-14-2012 8:53 PMI think Scott is ignoring all the films that came after the first "Alien" movie and will go a direction that I feel is predictable, but his own.

OvomorphMember0 XPApr-14-2012 9:57 PMAgree with @avgvstvs, Scott not being a fan of what happened after Alien will likely ignore all other films.
With Prometheus taking place approx. 30yrs before Alien it can be assumed everything turned out for the best regarding Earth. It's how bad it could have been had they not done what they do.

Cites the foundation of the USCMC (2065) and makes reference to Power Loaders (2056). "Aliens" appears to be canon as well.

OvomorphMember0 XPApr-14-2012 11:45 PMIt doesn't matter what happened in the three sequels. This is almost a prequel.

DeaconMember10390 XPApr-15-2012 10:00 AMRidley would be silly to go and do this movie if it would lead to a reboot or lead to it making out that the Aliens Aliens are not canon to the Alien one, so basically sets out to say that Aliens etc do not exist and only Alien movie is legit.
This would upset a lot of Alien fans, and dont forget while Ridley gave us the Alien, Aliens made it the iconic Organism and Ultimate Predator that we all know and love.
Yes the orginal script had differences to the Alien movie, there was no Jockey, there was no Eggs as in Alien Eggs as such. I dont think he would create a movie that would basically rule out what the Eggs are as it would hurt is Orginal movie.
The deleted scene touched upon the Alien not needing a Queen.
All those ideas, and any ideas Ridley had for how he would have wanted the Alien to Evolve after Alien can still be done, but by adapting the ideas he had into a new Organism.
Thus i think he will slighly touch upon and offer a explanation of how the exact Xeno in Alien would have come to be, but also leave the door open to explore a whole new Organism that has ancestrial links/DNA with the Alien Xeno.
