DeaconMember10390 XPApr-03-2012 5:13 PMThe scale is quite large, its hard to gauge it compared to David as he is in the back ground.
When i started to see these trailers i concluded that the Space Jockeys are large humaniods who must stand about 9-10ft tall.
The Empire article did say they was 9ft and some of the Production staff on the original 1979 Alien said that Space Jockey was 15ft.
But when i did some calculating i estimated he was about 12ft and the one in the chair in this movie about 9-10ft if the Chair is same size as the one in Alien.
So it would sugest the Jockey are large, remember Mankind averages between 5ft-7ft anyone under or over that is usually considered to have a Growth defect. So maybe Space Jockeys also vary between 8-12ft in height?
As for what that chair at the side is used for and who sits in it, well again i would say a Space Jockey but for what purpose and if we see it used in this movie is another matter we may never find out about.

OvomorphMember0 XPApr-03-2012 5:18 PMProportions in that picture can be quite hard to estimate because of the fish-eye, but we have other shots where comparison is easier.
And it is big indeed.

Ridley Scott will eventually tell us how the Queen was born.
Right now we have the Deacon; coming soon the Mercury, the May and the Taylor.

OvomorphMember0 XPApr-03-2012 5:18 PMWell, we can pretty much see how large it really is simpy in relation to the diameter of the turntable directly at that point. That chair is HUGE and does appear to be designed for something that would indeed be 12 plus feet in height.
I also think that rear position is the actual flight control area and is directly at the BACK of the round chamber. The 3 "slits" in the exterior would be directly ahead of the turntable on the opposite side.
I also would that the two hallway/corridor openings to be leading into the outstretched boom "arms/legs".

OvomorphMember0 XPApr-03-2012 5:20 PMThanks Noxwood,
Nice. Yes.... And for all we know, that mockup might even be done on a smaller scale so that when combined with other elements makes it even larger still... ie: The still pic from the finished scene noted.

OvomorphMember0 XPApr-03-2012 5:30 PMI agree with you, although the chair is big, it could be made appear even bigger in the movie.
And the ship hologram seen in one of the trailers seems to confirm that the two doorways at the sides lead towards the prongs (going through additional chambers).

OvomorphMember0 XPApr-03-2012 5:33 PMYes... I had another topic on that very graphic awhile ago. That is also very curious in that there appears to be 5 other very large rounded chambers in addition to the central one... and I have seen posts of others saying they see 5 Silos/Temples!
That made me go hmmmmmmmm.
And then there is this one again (taken from right here in the MEDIA section)... What the heck is this?? It obviously appears to be inside the ships corridor in one of the boom sections, but what does it mean??

OvomorphMember0 XPApr-03-2012 6:03 PMI know! This last one baffles me, too, because of those SJ suits or statues or whatever they are. WTF. I thought the chair was the suit, not a separate mobile suit.

DeaconMember10390 XPApr-03-2012 6:23 PMFrom what i have seen in the Space Jockey scenes and by that i mean the above image, the one of what apears to be headless one dead on floor, the Blue Man shots and the actual Jockey in the Seat.
I assume that the Jockey are a Large 9ft+ Humaniod Race who wear a Space Suit, and when they sit into the Chair the Chair connects itself to the Pilot and the rib cage structure is just a harness/seat belt to make sure the Pilot does not come out of the Chair. Just as how you get strapped into a Roller Coaster.

OvomorphMember0 XPApr-03-2012 6:32 PMhave you noticed that shaw (in the pic with the space jockeys in the back) is wearing the one space suit with the orange stripes, but the orange stripes now look blue........ anyone else notice this? if not i will make a new topic about it to shed some more light on this pic......

OvomorphMember0 XPApr-03-2012 6:37 PMFood for thought....
2 Statues/Suits (whatever)... 2 Sarcophagi
Are there in fact 2 "sacrificial lambs" required for this life creation process?
I have been really thinking lately that this thing is REALLY going to play out more like a truly freaky GIGER VISION this time, but I didnt want to put it all in wriring yet... was gonna wait until a short time before the Euro premiere then post it and disappear for awhile to see if I am right.

there was a discussion about the different spacesuits months ago, well before the trailers, so there was no way to link those suits to any particular scenes.
Now it can be seen in the trailers that the suit in the picture is the one from the final scenes (of the trailers):
-the fight(?) scenes on the Prometheus
-the take off of the alien ship
-the fall of the alien ship
I am under the impression that it is the suit Shaw wears after the surgery.

That image looks way to close to image Shaw in Prometheus hallway to be a coincidence.

OvomorphMember0 XPApr-04-2012 7:30 AM@reffugee...
COOL!! Thanks.
Yes, I was going to get at that but I did not have anything like those pics. Thanks for confirming for me.
And wow!.. the production photos due confirm scale. 60' diameter turntable seems to be about the overall size.
But!..... So there are actually 3 (Three) SARCOPHAGI !! Wow.... OK, so I do think now there are 3 beings involved in this process.
And just a thought... Why would our now famous Blue Meanie be STANDING on the control panel and crouching down at a control... Its almost like its the FIRST time that this thing is being used by this particular Blue Meanie and it wasnt sure exactly how to use it !?? Surely, the panel would have been an ergonomic design that whatever was SITTING in the BIG CHAIR would be easily able to reach it?
FURTHER EDIT: There are actually 4 (four) Sarcophagi. I saw 4 in another topic. Should have linked to the pic, but I cant find it right now.
