MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 12:30 PMNice cap... I would suggest that this is linked to the theory that one of the crew gets infected and transforms into a space jockey, therfore this is said crew memeber attacking as a space jockey (or mid transformation)

MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 12:30 PMOM.....where did you took this scene?
The creature is tall and the surface of its body
is totally different. To me it looks like a mutation
from a human.

MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 12:30 PMGood picture.
Is the elongated head not the space suits helmet? Can't quite make out whether its the critters face or space helmet. The arms are very long and the hands are huge. Looks as though the space suit and occupant are becoming one.

MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 12:32 PM It look like alien from Battle:Los Angeles.

MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 12:53 PMLook on the ground behind the struggle. Somebody got bagged in the chest and is still sizzling. If that is an enlongated head and not a helmet, I wonder if the mutation is accompanied by an increase in cranial mass as well as intelligence?

MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 12:54 PMAnd what the ell is that on the floor at the back there? In another clip this was getting flamed! It looks like one of the crew judging from the suit. But the head looks very odd!

MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 12:54 PMLooks to me as though someone's died from whatever this thing is. There's a body that looks a little beat up on the floor in the background.
I tried to take a screen cap and post it, but I can't get it to upload. Sorry.

MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 12:59 PMIt's Weyland doing a smack down on his security people. "It's my expedition, mine! mine!"

MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 1:20 PMI see Ridley is using the trope popularized in Terminator Salvation of the bad guy tossing people around instead of killing them. I can almost hear the guy going, "Wheee!"

MemberFacehuggerMar-22-2012 1:21 PMWhat's interesting is the speed this "mutation" appears to take place (unless there are two "mutants"). If you assume the following pictures are part of the same scene, then this mutation must happen very rapidly. Two people in space suits looking for this thing, they try to fry him but he scurries up the rover without them knowing, then he gets the drop on one and throws the other like a rag doll. (remember, in the scene of the "mutant" jumping off the rover, he is on fire in the UK trailer, just like the lengthened limbs/large head thing as seen in the last image/gif.)
However, it appears that there are differences between the suit the "mutant" is wearing and what the large head thing is wearing. Does that mean two "mutants"?

MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 1:28 PMIn Dan O'Bannons original Alien script, the creature went through several molts, so that everytime it showed up, it had a distinctly different look. I wonder if they didn't revive this idea for Prometheus?
I also think it's very likely there will be several individual mutations just to add to the chaos.
I can't remember who said it, but in one interview someone associated with the film made reference to "The Thing".
It would be immensely more of a challenge to the crew to not know how to fight a creature that changes every single time they confront it. They would never have a chance to learn the weak spots.

MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 1:45 PMMaybe someone just drank the last Tang onboard. I 'd be pissed too. Mutants need to stay hydrated. He certainly looks to be mutating into something.
I may work for the company, but im really an OK guy.

MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 1:53 PMI love how in every trailer we see this scene getting close and close to the finished project.
Now with 100% more fire.

TKfanboy421
MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 1:58 PMit appears to be several mutations going on, with the big handed individual, shaw's "pregnancy", the yet answered david mutation, halloway, each one more creepy than the last.

MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 2:13 PMThis thing screams xenomorph, not just the head and hands, but look at the elbow, too. If you look closely, however, it appears that the thing's skin may actually be a suit of some sort... it ripples in places, and there is no tail.
This COULD be a xeno, someone transforming into one OR it could be a placeholder for effects later on. A lot of times the trailer will contain images that aren't final, and although Ridley is going for more practical effects in Prometheus, if there is a xenomorph in the movie, the best way to play it off as there isn't to not use a real suit for one. That suit alone would be a perfect base to add CGI to and create a xenomorph. The reason why I really think that is it's color: it's pretty much uniform, with little variations in shade (save for shadows and creases).
I could be 100% wrong, though.

artyoh
MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 2:36 PMThe guy on fire, who's throwing the other crewman, is wearing the same kind of suit as the two people who are firing at him. There are pads on the knees and elbows of the suits, probably to protect against tearing through the fabric through repeated wear. IMO, one edge of the pad is just sticking out a little bit as he bends his elbow.

MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 2:38 PMCool clip, thanks for sharing it!! I would warn that you don't throw the xenomorph word around or cipher my open a can of verbal whoop-ass on ya.
Sorry cipher I don't mean to bash you, but I felt how you acted in that other thread to be very rude :(

I don't think they are. In one scene the 2 crewman have flame throwers. In the other they are firing on the thing with pistols.

MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 3:05 PMHello, this is my first post on this forum.
I hope I am not repeating something someone else has already noticed.
At 1:52 of the UK trailer

The character who is examing his bloodshot eye {sees what looks like to me some kind of organism on his eye}. I believe both he and the Elizabeth Shaw character become "infected" with whatever those small organisms on top of the apules that the David character finds. All three of them are in the ampule room and because David is synthetic he is not affected.

yes i believe they were infected, so they are investigating there, they find the alien head and the ampule, go back to the ship to do research everything seems well...
somepoint shaw and and holloway have sex, so it lays embrio to shaw and she gives birth to something... and maybe the infection is different from every DNA.

MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 3:42 PMYep. It's got to be a Space Jockey mutation. The head looks normal from what I can see. In the end, it adds up to:(Janek) "What the hell is going on down there?!"

MemberFacehuggerMar-22-2012 3:50 PMdb73, my thought was the two crewmen who were using the flamethrowers are now incapacitated (or dead) - one is lying on the ground and one is being thrown. The 2 crewmen with guns are different people altogether (I'm guessing to protect the "old man" (Peter Weyland?) as shown in these pictures)

MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 6:19 PMYou's guys! I thought you were referring to the definitely Alien looking thing that you can barely see above the crew member at the top of his arc. Kind of reminiscent of the scene where the canine-alien get it's second victim in Alien 3.
