MemberOvomorphFeb-26-2017 3:58 PMWhen I saw the news break early this morning of his passing, I was honestly speechless. To die at 61 years 'young' is just so much harder to accept. Ever since I saw him grace the screen as Hudson, I became a life long fan of him in addition to the Alien franchise.
He was an everyman's man, but always managed to make the simplest of scenes the most memorable in every movie I've seen him in. From Aliens to True Lies, Twister to Frailty. Paxton was an awesome talent!
Of all the recent celebrities to have passed away, this one definitely stings the most. I feel as if my childhood hero has died, which in many cases it's true.
Even though I never met the man, watching Paxton perform for well over 30 years and inviting his presence into my home for all those years, I can't help but feel like I knew him personally. He truly seemed like the genuine article of a human being, whose disarming charisma could win you over in a second, as well as his humbleness.
I am going to miss watching him perform in new roles but will damn sure not forget the indelible mark he has made upon me as a life long fan! RIP Bill, prayers for you and your family. You went too soon and will be sorely missed!

MemberChestbursterFeb-26-2017 4:13 PM@Hudson 25 @ninXeno426 I feel for ya guys, it's very sad indeed. So many recently like ninXeno said, it's been a rough year. We'll always have them in the movies, Bill Paxton, John Hurt, Carrie Fisher will live on for the rest of time and we will never forget them.

MemberTrilobiteFeb-26-2017 4:27 PMIt would be neat to see some kind of subtle nod in AC toward Bill- or maybe even a nod like they did that recalled Hurt in the Last Supper.

MemberChestbursterFeb-26-2017 4:36 PM@Hudson25 I feel your pain. Was a HUGE Aliens fan back in the day, and he was certainly part of that, but also Weird Science, Miami Vice, Fresno (TV), Navy Seals, Predator 2, Trespass, Boxing Helena, The Vagrant, Indian Summer (ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVE MOVIES, along with my wife...we love this one), Tales from the Crypt, Tombstone, Monolith, Future Shock, True Lies, Apollo 13, Twister, Titanic, Mighty Joe Young, A Simple Plan, U-571, Frailty, Vertical Limit, Thunderbirds, etc...Just to name a few.
Will be missed. A middle part of my heart died today as a child of the 80's...

MemberTrilobiteFeb-26-2017 4:45 PMBeen flipping through a few of BP's interviews. Regarding the Hudson role he mentioned how difficult it was to always play the fear stricken character. Never considered that.

MemberOvomorphFeb-26-2017 4:46 PMThanks guys! I know the whole Alien community is hurting along with me. It feels comforting to express how I feel about all this with this such a great community. You all are great!

MemberFacehuggerFeb-26-2017 4:48 PMIt would have been great to see him back in Alien5 if it did not get shelved, i know he wanted to be part of it, some things are not meant to be.

MemberTrilobiteFeb-27-2017 3:23 PMHere is one from Mike Muir (Suicidal Tendencies). This really reinforces what we already suspect but is very kind.
"I'm extremely saddened to hear of the passing of Bill Paxton, someone I was lucky enough to know and call a real friend.
I meet him when I was 16 as we both worked delivering the L.A. Times in the morning.
We were the only "young ones" there as most of the people were at least 40.
Bill had moved out to Santa Monica to be an "actor". I told him I was gonna start a band smile emoticon:)
He was just an incredibly cool, friendly, optimistic guy that never got discouraged when he couldn't get even an audition for the smallest roles.
But every morning at 2am he came into work with a smile.
He loved music too, so we'd sometimes go to punk rock shows and then go straight from the Starwood or Whiskey to delivering the morning paper to Northside SM.
So many great stories and times I will never forget.
I'm so sad for his family and their loss.
It's always hurts when someone passes away, especially when it's too soon and without warning.
And the older you get the more often it happens.
And each time it does, people think of the good things to say and remember them by.
The special thing about Bill is, I have never heard anyone that knew him, from before his success or during it, that ever had anything but great things to say about him. Truly an amazing person, who literally followed his dream, and never gave up.
Lastly, Someone just sent me this photo. That's the way I remember Bill, not cause he's wearing and SxTx shirt, but that smile. And of course he was an amazing actor and director...but more importantly he was as good a person as they come! Rest in Peace. You will be missed but never forgotten. So proud of you and thankful that I knew you."

MemberPraetorianFeb-27-2017 5:36 PMI'm going to give you guys all a little story on what Bill Paxton means to me.When i was growing up,Aliens was a very central part of my youth. The Alien series, along with Star Trek and Star Wars, has been one of the few constants in my life.My tastes change all the time, somethings i was once into I'm not anymore.Characters like Private William Hudson have a lot to do with that. When i was younger,my brother and I used to pretend we were Hicks and Hudson,my brother being Hudson.Because of that,I've had an almost brotherly association with Bill Paxton.I never met the man and sadly never will, but he has left me with many strong memories of my childhood.Aliens is after all my #1 favorite movie, and it has a lot with its cast of characters like Hudson. So here's to you Bill, with out my childhood wouldn't have been the same.Without you,I wouldn't be same.Rest in peace my dear friend.

MemberTrilobiteFeb-27-2017 9:53 PMNicely said ninXeno426. Good movies and actors- even crappy ones sometimes are held in high esteem because of what was going on with us personally at the time we saw it.

MemberPraetorianFeb-27-2017 10:01 PMThank you dk,like i said he's an integral part of my childhood.Without him,i might not even be on this site right now.
