MemberFacehuggerFeb-18-2015 5:20 PMSince the release of recent " rumours " about Neil Blomkamp doing an Alien movie. I wonder if too much speculation is now becoming mainstream pie in the sky gossip based in very little fact. Or, is there something more to present reports.

MemberOvomorphFeb-18-2015 5:36 PMLet's face it, Prometheus was a disappointment to many fans and I doubt that FOX would want to make a movie only to please us: a small handful of faithful fans of Ridley Scott.
Anyway I would like to see both films. That Being Said, I want some elements belonging to Prometheus in this new Alien movie.

MemberFacehuggerFeb-18-2015 5:56 PMIf P2 is to go into production as has been previously expected, then this might be good news all round, hopefully It would mean that fans would get a P2 directed by Scott and an endorsed Alien production as well. This would enable there to be consistency in storyline development.

MemberOvomorphFeb-18-2015 5:57 PMPrometheus grossed over 400 million worldwide, not to mention ancilliaries and home video. That's why Fox are prepping a sequel. It has nothing to do with a few Ridley Scott loyalists or disappointed internet fanboys.
I see no reason to think Prom 2 is stalled. Scott confirmed last year that the script is ready to shoot after many drafts and two screenwriters.
He has been busy with The Martian - production will wrap in March. The guy is great, but he can't make two blockbusters at the same time.
Have patience.

MemberOvomorphFeb-18-2015 7:03 PMWell said @GustavoHR. With no new news on P2 developments in months, my patience is thin. I don't expect much in the way of news on serious developments on P2 until promotions for The Martians appear, and the press start asking Ridley about his next project. Probably not much news until the fall. And who knows? Maybe he'll be too busy with Bladerunner 2, and P2 will be yet again delayed.

MemberOvomorphFeb-19-2015 3:13 AMI read that Prometheus 2 will come out first, which seem like the best idea. Putting A5 out before P2 would lessen its impact, but I guess they know that already.

MemberFacehuggerFeb-19-2015 6:51 AMUnfortunately 399 million was from people expecting something as good as alien - doh! But no I am joking of course it was probably a bit less than that but that will be running through the money mens heads - will there be any want to see part two after what happend with one. I think quiet a few people will watch it just because it pissed them off so much but they may end up downloading it for free instead of buying a ticket :S . I think part two is coming I just hope its not more indecisiveness and muddle-dom :P! If the budget is low that could be really bad for one thing...not a big fan of blom either his short was really good then district 9 was ok but elisium was baaaad those ecto suits were so pansy :O

MemberDeaconFeb-19-2015 9:29 AMI am not sure we can take that news as 100% yet...
But its a bit odd to green light a Alien movie, while so little is known about Prometheus, i know they want to step away from the Alien with Prometheus 2 which is all Good..
But to please Alien fans.. give us a new Alien movie... maybe yes that could work.. but i would want a movie that ties in Alien and Aliens LV 426 to the Xeno and Engineers, or a movie that follows after Alien 3 but maybe before Alien R or after and certainly under no circumstances a movie reboot or no Ripley etc...
As far as it effecting Prometheus 2 release date, we cant be sure, i am sure what ever date they had planned or if they have not even got one yet would not be effected by this news.

MemberOvomorphFeb-19-2015 2:41 PMI think Ridley likes to keep things as secret as possible, until the moment is right. I'd love for P2 to happen soon, but as the Wicked Witch of the West says, "these things must be handled delicately". It was 7 years between Alien and Aliens. Even though I wasn't crazy about Prometheus, it was a big effort.

I agree entirely with the sentiment that Ridley likes to keep things as secret as possible.
I’d like to see a little more confirmation on things other than what Blabbermouth Blomkamp has been twittering away to his hearts content. I remain optimistic, so lets wait and see.

AdminPraetorianFeb-19-2015 3:05 PMPrometheus is not stalled, they are two different movies and yes the Bloomkamp Aliens movie is really happening. Neil posted that it is happening, he was pretty clear about it. Also, Ridley Scott's company 'Scott Free' is going to be the producer for Neil's movie. Basically, don't stress about it, both projects are happening and Ridley is connected to the both of them. :D

MemberFacehuggerFeb-19-2015 3:34 PMI know Ridley is involved with plenty of other things. Just before Blomkamp made his announcement, an item which got obscured was The Man in the High Tower.
Certainly lote of projects going on.

MemberFacehuggerFeb-21-2015 7:43 AM'Prometheus 2: Paradise' - the earliest release would be the fall 2016 (November maybe)
'Alien 5' (or 'Alien 2a' if 3 and 4 were a cryo-sleep induced nightmare) - Spring 2017 (May/June maybe)
These are just my guesses because I think this timeframe and releasing 'P2:P' before 'Alien 5' will provide the bigger "buzz" and money for the studio. It's what I'd do anyway. I have this feeling that Blomkamp's script is going to wrap up the franchise and end Ripley's arc appropriately and I don't see the studio releasing "the end" before "the beginning".
