H.R. Giger Surrealism: My Tribute

Hi there! Hopefully this is the right spot to post this as I'm new to the forum.

I created this design as a tribute to H.R. Giger's mind blowing surrealism. It's mashup with Rene Magritte (also Surrealist) suggests that, while they are both considered Surrealists, Giger's art looks like it incubated inside Magritte's dreamscapes, subsequently "bursting" out as the proverbial Xenomorph (well, actually Chestburster first - then Xenomorph!:)). What do you think?

What are your thoughts on his artwork? How well has it been translated on film? Are the films a tame representation? Is his art freakier than anything that could ever be applied to film?

I think the original Alien and Prometheus captured Gigeresque environments and creatures very well. Sequels not as much. Alien and Prometheus had such an appropriate tone for the look as well.

that being said, Giger has created some brilliant ( and very intricate ) biomechanoids which would be nearly impossible to bring to life. Some of his massive biomech-y environments would be tough to do justice.

That pic is beautiful, btw. A strange and lovely mix!

I thinks far better than what the original artist had intended it to be.

The Anunnaki were on the earth in those days--and also afterward--when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, mighty men of high reno

Welcome to the forums Gamma! That's a very interesting image!

I agree with Fleshvessel's comments. The original alien creature, space jockey and derelict were an almost perfect representation of his work. Prometheus to a lesser extent.

That being said I think even with todays CGI, there's a move away from Giger, or Universal Giger Matter as our member Custodian has termed it. Ironically, now would be the perfect time to fully realise his weird biomech nightmares!

I fullly agree, and maybe we could be in for something we was not expecting.

Maybe eventually we would be introduced to a Bio Mechanical Factory/Temple that is just one giant Bio Mech Machine and very Gigerish... pretty much like the Borg Ships only as Temples and smaller and only with a touch of Giger matter....

Please Riddley... Let Giger design further biomechanical environments and creatures for Paridise. He is the creator of the success of the Alien universe. Without him Alien would have simply been a good Sci Fi, not the classic, original piece of Rt which it is...

Fuck the producers, just do it!
