Duncan Jones is good (very good), but he's very into that "this is not actually what you think it is" thing and I'm not sure how that would work for something like this. The (traditional) Alien Universe is about "you can't believe this is as bad as it actually seems, and then it gets worse." Those are very different to me.
Of course, I haven't seen Prometheus yet.

"cant remember any good film by spielberg"
What drugs are you on?
Jaws
Close Encounters of the Third Kind
ET
All of the Indiana Jones movies (w/ Lucas)
Jurassic Park
Jurassic Park: The Lost World
Saving Private Ryan
I'm just going to stop there... I could go on and on and on. You are nuts! Now, for an Alien universe movie... no way! No Spielberg.
I'd be interested in seeing any of the following directors:
James Cameron
Christopher Nolan
Darren Aronofsky
Zack Snyder
I mean really, most directors could do a GOOD job but it truly all comes down to the story... the screenplay/script is the key element. We need STRONG writers and narrative visionaries for the director to work with.

MemberOvomorphJun-06-2012 6:06 PMI'd maybe throw Matt Reeves into the mix after 'Cloverfield' and 'Let Me In'??

MemberOvomorphJun-06-2012 5:54 PMIf not RS then Joss Whedon.

MemberOvomorphJun-06-2012 6:02 PM@spacyfreak: i have been championing Chris Cunningham
to direct the sequel (if there is to be one) ever since the live chat
with Scott waaaaaay back in December of last year
personally, i feel Cunningham is the ONLY one who could really
punch thru, and give us ALIEN loyalist' the severely wanted stark
and disturbing film i have been wanting for almost 30+ years now
all the rest if the "popular sci-fi / fantasy" directors will just not do
if not Ridley Scott himself for the sequel - - then P L E A S E give
Cunningham his fair shot at a sequel for this great looking new film

MemberOvomorphJun-07-2012 1:08 AMI still think CHRIS CUNNINHAM as director of a great sci-fi movie would be a real BANG .. a bang we had not for so many many years in sci-fi history.
Really looking forward to some great cunningham full-size movie.
Watch and hear THIS... DO I HAVE TO SAY MORE?

MemberOvomorphJun-07-2012 2:13 AMChris Nolan/ Peter Jackson?!
I suspect that in the next few months we will realise why the cinema cut turned out the way it did, and who is to blame: Lindelof/ Ridley/ Fox....?

Fincher did not write the film, he just directed, and did *#! awesome job of it im opinion, all of it's flaws were down to the CG department and writers, aside from the Alien perspective shots, anyway..
My preferences to direct, in order:
Chris Cunningham
David Fincher
Ridley Scott (If he goes back to film school)

MemberOvomorphJun-07-2012 9:12 AMWell, I was hoping Ridley can do another sequel for PROMETHEUS, my second opinion choice will be James Cameron, as he knows how to get the audience attention of bringing into a new world.

MemberOvomorphJun-07-2012 12:10 PMMy choice is my favorite director, Alfonso Cuaron. Hes the master of brutal beauty! With him the film would have a grand, big feeling about it while being down to Earth and straightforward, without any holes.
