MemberOvomorphJun-05-2012 3:29 PMI'd say the decider on that is what the American audience make of it on Friday.

MemberOvomorphJun-05-2012 3:35 PMIt's pretty much a dead heat right now. Which do you think will make it first to 4 pages?
Who wants the hard four?

MemberOvomorphJun-05-2012 3:44 PMI am going to go for the dislikes because as an audience we are harder to please.

MemberOvomorphJun-05-2012 3:46 PMIt is difficult to say which will win. If the film is not that bad there will be many more like reviews. However, if it is as bad as some have said, it is possible that most people will simply leave the site without writing a review so as to not waste any more time on it.

MemberOvomorphJun-05-2012 3:50 PMDo you really think so? You'd think people would need a place to vent if they're going to feel as bad as you suggest.
We got a shooter and a good'un. Coming out again for a new point, get your bets now ladies and gentlemen!

Friends and Family will argue.
New friends will be made.

MemberOvomorphJun-05-2012 5:02 PM720 posts on the like board
651 on the dislike board
I just counted (cos i'm a nerd)
The General board has comments mildly swaying in either direction
The spoilers board has 13 pages of confused people speculating about questions they dont know the answers to
Says it all really

MemberOvomorphJun-05-2012 5:15 PMI think Dislike will be first, because people are really getting into moaning about this film, plus people who like it will always be more more cautious about revealing spoilers. I think more people will end up liking it than not though .

MemberDeaconJun-05-2012 5:20 PMDoes it really matter which board wins....
Does it mean anything which ever board wins....?
Now a number of the admins who are massive fans of the movie could... (not saying they will) but could remove threads on the dislike board to give the like board a advantage... and by the same token, some who dislike or hate the movie could just as easy make a number of accounts and post dislike threads to again make that board have more pages..
We could get say 10 new users who dislike and maybe 2 are the same user but then admin think that maybe 5 could be same user and remove and thus remove 3 different users threads...
Again not saying the above on either side is going to happen....
END OF THE DAY....
Does it matter....
If i think this movie is the best movie the world has ever seen and has no flaws, does that mean that others who dont see it like that dont have a valid comment?
If i hate the movie and think its the biggest pile of poo ever made again does that mean others comments are not valid?
If i think its great or poo it should not make no difference to what each of you think about it...
We may have some who will defend every aspect because maybe they admire Ridley Scott so high, that he cant do no wrong.....
Then we may have some who could attack every aspect because maybe they hate everything that Lindelof has done and nothing he does is good enough.....
But then we have so many others who do not have either and they may have some praise for some elements of the movie and some criticism of some other elements.
Does the dislike and like boards have to be split like its only views like..
"wow just saw movie and its awsome guys" and "just saw movie and its 2 hours of my life i will never get back"
What about the "movie was good, had a few flaws though" and the "not bad, but disapointing compared to expectations"
Where do those go?
It would be sad to see views and debates on this movie divded into sections like a Religious vs Atheist debate...
Back before the movie was shown we all debated on aspects of the movie, i.e what happens with Shaws Baby, who are the Engineers, what does the Hollogram mean.... Who was the guy who gets up to confront that Mechanic on the ramp etc....
Now we have seen the movie or some have, i hope we get it out of our system so we can go back to debating parts of the movie, speculating on some of the unanswered questions and mystreys left behind...
Its ok to disagree guys, but lets all try and be respectfull of each others views...
This is not no case of Marmite love or hate... its more of a whats your favorite Pizza Topings.... its not all just black or white...

MemberDeaconJun-05-2012 5:27 PMOn another note about views....
On one hand people usually post more stuff and moan more when they dont like something....
How many email you ISP and thank them for their service when its great........
How many email them etc to moan when things are bad with their service....
Thats just how we do things...
And on the other side, the majority of general public wont even bother posting their thoughts on here....
There could be 20'000 people out there who never visited this site or saw Trailers over and over..... if 75% of them never liked the movie well we would not really know about, just as if 75% loved it.
The best way to gauge the movie is see how fast or slow the movie drops from the Top 1-3 to off the Top 20 charts at the box office...
And even better the first few months DVD/Blu-Ray sales when the movie is out on those formats...
Because as it stands with box office, 100 people could go see a movie and 20 could say great, 20 could say poor, 40 could say it was ok, 40 could say it was good.
But box office would show 100 sales.... that does not mean 100 happy viewers...
And regardless of views it does not matter, some may like AVP just because a lot of people dont does not mean the person who likes it, has something wrong with them.
