MemberOvomorphMay-02-2012 9:05 AMi think the writer didnt do his research when he did that article. Ridley scott said in an interwiew not so long ago that it is indeed a "LV" something planet, but not LV426 like in alien. if im not mistaken i think its called LV233 osr something,

MemberOvomorphMay-02-2012 9:33 AMLV223 could be in the same star system as LV426, meaning that the statement is correct.

MemberOvomorphMay-02-2012 9:35 AMcurious, wonder if there is a way to send them a registered letter asking just that?

Lazy research by the journalist...its not the same planet, can't be.

MemberDeaconMay-02-2012 10:23 AMLV223 is a planetiod in that Star System, it would be like say Mars could have been many Millions of years ago.
Only its atmosphere is hostile it may have traces of elements required for life but also contains many that are harmfull to life.
LV426 is a smaller planetiod or Moon in the same System, or close by maybe near another near by Star in the Zeta Reticuli star system.
It looks much more baron and harsh.
I would assume that prior to Prometheus the Derelict of Alien either left LV223 with a Cargo it wanted to take away and quarantine away from LV223 or a Cargo to go and destroy some place, but it got compremised and that LV426 was the closet most baron place it could settle down on, in order to contain what ever it was carrying.
I dont think Xenos with no Hosts can reproduce and they cant learn to fly a Ship can they, and hence the Engineer let of a Signal to say the Deadly Cargo has been compremised or Danger Bio Hazzard Cargo.
Or maybe the Cargo was on its way to LV223 to wipe out either life on that place, or the Engineers (assumes waring Engineer fractions).
Thats my hunch as for LV 426 and not being same as LV 223.
But the biggest questions are....
What happens to LV 223, would it not be easier to colonise that than LV 426 (Aliens).
And if your searching for life on other worlds and clues to our Orgins, then when you are about to enter a Star System and go to LV 223, if you pick up a signal from near by LV 426 (as far as space travel in that ship goes) would you not go check out that signal first then go to LV223?
So does Prometheus not detect the Signal on LV 426 a explanation would be that the events on that planet are after Prometheus which i doubt.
And does LV 223 gets destroyed to such a level it is a even less habitable place than LV 426?

MemberOvomorphMay-02-2012 10:37 AMI'm sure this has been stated in other threads, and I'm thinking the same. If the two ships are different we may be seeing the pilot of the derelict escaping LV223 in the hologram to his ship only to crash/emergency land shortly later on LV426. I know some people won't agree with that but I think it makes sense.
I think whoever wrote the article is just writing off his assumption, not everybody in the general public has been following the facts and details of the movies like those of us on these forums
