From what we already know about the Aliens in Prometheus, what do you expect will be present in the final release regarding creature characteristics? Do you think they will bleed acid blood? Do you think they will still have a second jaw? Post your thoughts here.

Wow…Necronome came out swingin’! Yeah…I think you’ve got some pretty good ideas. However, it was never confirmed that “The Company” wanted the ALIEN for the Bio-weapons Division. Ripley just said that that was all she could “think”…or figure. Seems to me that the company didn’t know exactly what the hell they were dealing with…except for what Ash was communicating to them (which I’m sure would’ve been substantial). Proof of the existence of extra-terrestrial life would’ve been pretty big, and a feather in the company’s “cap” in and unto itself. Anyhoo…to which pre-Nostromo, Weyland Yutani vessel are you referring? Are you talkin’ about the “SNARK” or “LEVIATHAN” ships from O’Bannon’s earlier drafts? Or perhaps Ridley Scott or Dan O’Bannon’s character profile notes? ALL OTHER PRIORITIES ARE RESINDED…Neurion

there was mention in an early draft of an earth vessel on the planetoid that is discovered by the Nostromo crew, i think snark and leviathan were suggested names for what was to become the Nostromo.

Hey Sophie's Dad, Sorry about the misnomer. Next time I'll just call you "0413"...or how 'bout "Space Junky"...little play on words there :-). As far as pre-Nostromo, company vessels...I think "Necronome" may be referring to something other than the ships we've mentioned. Trouble for me is...I'm such a tight ass when it comes to ALIEN, that I really don't include any of the sequel films as part of the ALIEN Canon...for me personally. As much as I love the film "ALIENS", when James Cameron brought in the queen concept and altered the Alien's appearance, habits, and life cycle...it branched into another type of story for me, a cousin or kindred to ALIEN perhaps, but not brother. Over the years, I've just sort of imagined or rationalized that the sequels were all just some kind of nightmares that Ripley has been having in hypersleep. I know that's sad...but except for ALIENS, the sequels have been very weak. For me, ALIEN is like THE EXORCIST...a great, dramatic film, that just happens to be scary as hell. THE EXORCIST also suffers from weak or terrible sequels. Both are generally classier franchises than most Science Fiction or Horror flicks...but let's face it, they're getting dangerouly close to Freddy, Jason and Pinhead territory. ~Neurion

0413 sounds good!! anyhoo the sequels for me anyway... Aliens; good action adventure story, cool tech but the aliens for me feel a bit short. Alien 3 ; a missed opportunity, as we have seen, Fincher is not a bad director, i feel Fox strangled that movie. Alien Resurrection; another missed opportunity as the director is actually good, once again i think Fox are to blame also the aliens again . no justice to the source material as in Giger not consulted enough on design, and the newborn was frankly ridiculous. I mean the cast in all movies are exceptional at their craft, the fx crews professionals but some thing came loose in the execution.

Well said...0413, I couldn't agree with you more. Alien 3 had some really interesting concepts and imagery. Alas...it was doomed from the beginning. For starters, I think they should've retired Ripley's jersey after ALIENS. Hadn't she done enough for mankind...and then to kill off sweet little Newt and gentlemanly Marine Hicks in the first few minutes. That PISSED ME OFF! That was cinematically inexcusable. But by then, the Ripley character and the whole "Alien universe" was getting tired and already showing signs of fatigue...and a "stepchild-like" neglect from FOX. It's also partly due to what I call "over development of a character." Nowadays, people often talk about and compare the Ripley character to some of the “feministy” or the unrealistically warrior type heroines in more current films. I usually don’t agree with the comparisons, because Ripley was not really pushy or unrealistic in her physical prowess. Even in ALIENS, where she really started getting the reputation of an ass kicker, she didn’t want to be there…and when she finally does swing into action, it’s to save others…especially Newt…who was reminiscent of her own daughter. I really liked her character in ALIEN and ALIENS…less in Alien 3…and Resurrection just about killed it. ~Neurion

The alien represents a bio-morphic cybernetic creature that comes straight from human hell and nightmares of snakes and scorpions. The result of technological evolution in biology, ideals and spiritually. This universe is immense, perverse, surreal and beyond mere logic. The creature is not a mere bug, or an infestation. It is a product of manufacturing life from life. Questioning the boundary of technological choas and order. Sanity and Madness! Maybe something like the Borg being assimilated by other alien species technology but the collective becoming a hierarchy in spirits/species in symbiosis with the technology.

Sure! why not have acid blood and extra jaws? in fact, they should have those elements with many different species and expand on it's horrid parasitic technology, deal with the subject of symbiosis without turning them into bugs. Ultimately, the creatures should embody the essence of Ashes final words regarding the alien..

Hey Ruhaniya, You have in my opinion, many interesting and thoughtful ideas and extrapolations regarding the ALIEN universe. I'm sorry to read that your suffering from Kidney Disease. As you mentioned the Hellish nature of the Alien organisms...I found your concepts to be fairly unique. I myself have had similar ideas about the subject. Anyhoo...as believer in an actual Hell...I respectively believe in the opposite of Hell. I will pray to He who dwells there, for your healing, and an end to your suffering from your affliction. By the way...I checked out your art at Deviant...Very cool. I do a lot of graphic art myself...my avatar is one of mine from 1985. What do you think? Peace, Neurion P.S. You Scare Me.

I like it Neurion! I didn't know you made that yourself, very nice! As for Ruhaniya, great ideas! Both you an Neurion... and hell, all the members here. You all have fantastic ideas and imaginations! It's quite a pleasure to read! Really gets you thinking. Anyways, back on topic... Your hypothesises regarding the Alien organism Ruhaniya are very interresting and "unique" as Neurion put it. I especially like your sentence:
"The creature is not a bug, or an infestation. It is a product of manufacturing life from life. Questioning the boundary of technological choas and order. Sanity and Madness!"
I like how you state that the Alien is not a "bug" or "infestation". For it to be ALIEN, it cannot have any "known" qualities or be classifiable. "manufacturing life from life" is a great way to describe the Alien itself, very well put.

Thanks for the peace Neurion, your avatar is more than an avatar it is art. It reminds me of the effect the alien slime had on Bret. But this is space jockey slime. Title :Hot Kiss from a Space Jockey Chick. I like that word belief cause it sounds weird and constitutes having certainty and conviction. Surely it takes being in hell to believe in hell. There are 2 hells, one is the physical hell which is the destruction of matter (Men and Stones) in a black hole. Hot as hell, but black cause of its density. The event horizon being the vibration of the angel blowing the trumpet. I wont tell you the second other than it is the farthest from the mercy of God. I wouldn't want to scare you. Those who go to heaven get to watch the people in hell on T.V. so....it's probably so scary you would have to be in Heaven to be able to watch it. Cheers

It may seem a bit radical, but i hope that the whole alien asthetic is changed, Ridley Scot said himself the alien "shape " is overused and old, i am hoping for a new shape some thing original and far out, and if Giger is indeed on board then this is the chance to revisit his creation and hopefully make something we will be talking about for years.

I came across the post below, on another site. Going by what weve been told about the story behind Prometheus so far, I think its possible that there may well be some truth, to what this person has to say. Warning- this post might contain some spoilers I was speaking with a guy who is working on the set of prometheus and he showed me some pictures and told me a bout the storyline. The space jockey that you see in alien who has had his chest busted open is the guy who engineers the aliens. He sends the aliens to planet that he wants to take over. The aliens kill the locals and he flys in and pillages the land of its resources. It seems as though he is responsible for the aliens creation, i’m guessing that he is some kind of super scientist. The engineer is played by some huge guy who is 8ft tall. He appears even bigger in the space jockey scene from Alien as he is wearing a space suit. He appears to have died in a seat that looks like it is some sort of weapon control, this is in fact the navigation system that the space ship uses to open worm holes and plot its course. Perhaps the aliens revolted and, knowing that he has been impregnated, he is desperately trying to return home to have the alien extricated? He showed me some pictures from the set. There is a huge silver bust of the engineers head, it is approximately 15m high. It appears that the engineer is sort of leader of a civilisation and there is a cult around his personality and his alien creations, this is probably due to the fact that he has mastered the technology that continues to provide the resource requirements of his home world. I also saw a picture of the actor who plays the engineer in what appeared to be some sort of cryo-chamber. Some of you might remember Ridley Scott describing how the space jockey is actually a bio mechanical suit, inside which, resides this smaller creature who is actually the real being. The last line, which I have underlined, is particularly interesting. I suspect that the picture this person saw, depicting the engineer inside a cryo chamber, may have actually been a shot of the engineers armor, suspended inside a cryo chamber. Whether the above is true or not, is up to you to decide, but I hope that they dont explore the concept of the space jockey, and his society, to the point where there is no mystery left. I don`t particularly care for the idea that he was just one, of this entire species who is this famous engineer. I always envisaged him, as part of a race of God like beings. Part of a species, who are on a different level of awareness. so alien, and so advanced, their intentions and habits could only be partly understood by humans. A film which explored the concept of a species like that, being destroyed by their own bio mechanical creations, might make for an interesting tale, particularly when you factor in, a lesser species, like humans, who are dead set on getting their hands on that same technology. One way or the other, I`m pretty sure that at its heart, that is the kind of film Prometheus will be! If Prometheus manages to reproduce the same emotions you feel, when you see the space jockey for the first time, in the original film, and maintain those feelings, for at least an hour or so, or for however long the creature appears on the screen, then the movie will be a success!

I read this a few weeks back as well. I believe it was not "official" news, as FOX did not clarify on if it was and they never asked for the article to be taken down. Which suggests to me that it was not an official exclusive piece of news, but thanks for posting it up! Should create some good debate. The post you re-posted here might be similar, if not linked to this article we posted here. I can't remember if they were the same article, but if not, they both suggested "spoiler" content which later turned out not to be true. FOX and Ridley Scott are doing their best to keep this film as secret and mysterious as possible, as not to exploit it before anybody gets to see it.

That article was very thought provoking but there is no way they would let out that much detailed information. Some how there is confusion between the engineer and the space jockey. It's a campaign of disinformation which is good cause you don't want to get too excited. Bliss in permanent mystery. I like that part about the cult following....wouldn't it be funny if the space jockey suit opened up and a predator came out. Just Kidding 8@

It could be true or.... maybe just some of the ideas they are throwing about, i mean apparently there was a lot of brianstorming on this project. keep the mystery as Ruhania says, that is what keeps me interested.

It's not important at all? It's already out there by Ridley himself. Paraphrasing; 1. The space jockey is either looking through a telescope or operating some kind of navigational device. 2. The alien is either a biological weapon or a planet cleaner as a first step to teraforming planets. So, space jockies, this movie is less about the alien and much more about the WHY!!!!! We already talk about teraforming Mars to make it inhabitable for us. That derelict ship in Alien 1 speaks volumnes abut it's purpose. Navigate from planet to planet to deposit self perpetuating pods which will eventually eliminate any life form that might be a threat to a take over. A ship accident occurs, blah blah blah! Aliens might have a timed life span. No Aliens in the derelict ship, only pods. So when the "people" of the targeted planet are extinct, the silent invaders return finding the planet cleaned. The above threads come from Ridley in interviews.
