Dane Hallett was one of Alien: Covenant's prominent concept artists, along with the likes of Matt Hatton and Wayne Haag. While I visited London for the world premiere for Alien: Covenant last month, I got to meet up and chat with Dane briefly about his work and his artistic process - really cool guy if you ever get the chance to meet him yourself, very down to earth and a passionate Alien fan at heart. It was fascinating to learn about Dane's raw and somewhat gritty approach to drawing inspiration for his work - it's very much like that of the late H.R Giger himself. His concepts for Covenant and the artwork featured in this post are especially evident of that unique artistic inspiration.
With Alien: Covenant having released in theaters last month Hallett, along with other artists have begun to share a lot of their work from the film online. We have already featured some of Dane's work previously, along with others, but as new artwork is unveiled, we can't help but bring attention to it.
Dane also worked with fellow concept artist Matt Hatton to provide artwork for some of Covenant's post-release marketing, which featured a number of biological creatures which had been infected by the Black Goo bombardment on Paradise. Although these mutations were not shown on film, this artwork helps expand the scope of David's effect on the local ecosystem and just how diverse and mutable the Black Goo Pathogen is.
Hallett continues to treat fans with new pieces of work from his time on Covenant, along with some phenomenal behind-the-scenes photos of the film's sets through his social channels. Be sure to give his Facebook page a LIKE to show your support and to stay up to date with his latest unveilings!

The future of Alien
The Alien franchise is taking a dramatic turn at 20th Century Studios, now owned by Disney. Currently there are two major Alien projects in development - a new Alien TV series by Noah Hawley and a new, stand-alone Alien movie being directed by Fede Alvarez. Both of which will be taking the franchise in a new direction - moving away from the Alien prequel direction Ridley Scott set out to pursue back in 2012.
