Marvel have just acquired the rights to produce Alien and Predator comic books! Previous to this, it was Dark Horse Comics who initially breathed life into the Alien and Predator comic book franchises, paving the way for the cross over event which led to 2004's Alien vs. Predator movie as well. Now that Disney own the film rights to Alien and Predator, they want all mediums relating to both properties to be within their control. Disney also owns Marvel, so by acquiring the comic book rights to coincide with their film rights, they can control narrative of how these franchises' stories will continue to expand under their new leadership.
This is exciting news as it means Disney are clearly planning to utilize their newly acquired Alien and Predator rights, setting the stage to produce new films in each franchise.
David Fincher produced a couple teaser covers following this news as well, to which he exclaimed the following:

Alien and Predator are the two of the most identifiable, iconic characters of all time, and I love them for that. But mostly, it’s being fortunate enough to be a kid when they were new. I’ve seen every movie they’ve ever been in, and I cannot wait to see them wreaking havoc in the Marvel Universe. I drew my pictures of them with a massive smile on my face.
The fact we're seeing movement with these properties is good news for us fans. Keep an eye here for any more breaking news on what will happen to our beloved Alien franchise next!
