James Franco has confirmed his role in Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant during an interview segment with the website Hey You Guys. Franco acts surprised, remarking "The news is out, I guess?", to which the interviewer assures him there is a lot out online - which is true. Franco's secretive role announcement in Covenant was leaked 10 days ago. You can watch Franco's interview below:

We can also confirm that Franco plays the captain of the colony vessel COVENANT, but his screen time is very, very limited. Without spoiling too much, we can also confirm that he has a connection with Katherine Waterston's character Daniels.

The trailer for Alien: Covenant remains elusive, with many predicting the official release date for the trailer to be between December 24th in North America and the 26th in Europe. However, some smaller chain cinemas may already be in possession of the the first trailer and are debuting it ahead of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, as this one Twitter user announced yesterday. Having checked various rating and classification resources, no reference, duration or classifications for an Alien: Covenant trailer have cropped up, which leads us to assume Fox will release it exclusively online before their theatrical debut in large-chain cinemas.

Be sure to check back often for more details and updates on Alien: Covenant, its trailer, cast and plot details!

Cool.

Wonder if the trailer is R rated? Might not be able to show it before a PG-13 movie?

I think I know what happens to Franco, he might be one of the victims of the neomorph birth process. :)

Reasons why:

1. his casting was kept a secret.

2. his time is short.

3. his death would definitely transform Daniels, thus the trans formative story.

thoughts? :)

I kind of wished Bryan would switch place with James as the role of the captain based on a more proper age as that role and his wider range of acting imo, but who am I to judge and what do I know?

I'm sure James will rise to the occasion and deliver, partly because Ridley is known to be such a demanding director and wouldn't allow half-hearted acting I'm sure, and also because who wouldn't do his/her absolute utmost in an Alien film directed by the man who if not invented, at least modernized the sci-fi horror genre?

As for the trailer, there will be a red-band trailer and a standard trailer as per the norm these days.

I saw Rogue One today and there was no such trailer and they would not attach it with a "Disney film. Too many young kids around for such a trailer to be with a film aimed at all ages.

The word is it should be Assains  Creed, which happens to be a 20th Century Fox fill also featuring Fassbender. Makes more sense.

I initially also thought maybe Franco was going to be on the bad end of a backbursting neomorph birth but then read that he is seen sporadically in little segments throughout the film on video. Maybe he's talking to Daniels (his rumored wife) on video calls? I also thought he was going to be the one who gets it in the shower via neomorph birth which leads Daniels to transform into our new version of Ripley. Of course we're not gonna know anything for sure until the movie comes out. But I'm hoping the trailer (which at this point I'm having dreams about because I'm so excited and want Fox to release it already) will come out this week.

An IMDB user who knew about the casting of Franco already gave some details about his scenes.

I think I see a love interest happening with Franco's character and Daniels. Maybe the Ripley storyline has it's beginnings with them...

We know there is some sort of explosion invloved with the ship (from the newzealand set pics we saw early when stuff started leaking) most likley the captain (franco) will die someway or another, only few if not one usually staying alive by the end of the movie, this is deff a big movie, its extremely secretive, fans are extremely curious, for us its THE movie of the franchise (like Prometheus) this one will give us closure:) cant wait!!! Trailer will give away ALLOT from what we curious about, if i were u, i would not watch the trailer and wait for may 19th

sit in the middle middle of the theater and smoke a small one before ;)

Do you have any idea how torturous it would be to avoid the trailer?! Hahaha I can't. I don't have that kind of self control.
