Alien: Covenant Practical Effects Behind-The-Scenes Photos!

The Alien: Covenant - The Official Collector's Edition book is currently set for a Jun 6th release date, but select comic shops have obtained their own exclusive copies a week ago. The book features a plethora of behind-the-scenes photos from the set of Alien: Covenant and specifically some fantastic looks at the film's practical effects Neomorphs and Xenomorphs, created by the talented group at Odd Studio and Creatures Inc. The folks over at AvPGalaxy managed to obtain an early copy of the book and have uploaded most images of interest. As you can see, there were practical suits and puppets created for pretty much every iteration of David's beasts:

For those looking to obtain their own copy of this book, you can currently pre-order it on Amazon in the US and UK.

Good to see, those practical effects are amazing!

I don't have an IMAX cinema anywhere near me, so the Morphs and lab specimens were very hard to make out in any detail.

Wish Daniels and co had looked around the lab more, so little screen time for such a beautifully detailed set! :(

The practical effects look great, but in the final product they seemed to have a thick layer of CGI over them which was disappointing, especially the CGI-looking slime from the alien. All of the practical sets were very impressive indeed! I'm glad Ridley still appreciates in-camera special effects and sets.

I'm impressed by these pictures, not by what I saw in the movie... Really. I feel sad.

Yeah Lone those dark sets were so tough to make out. That whole Necropolis was just so damn dark it's just a travesty. Seems what Ridley sees as average I'd say those sets were beyond amaze balls awesome. Looks like the illustrated book is they only way we are gonna get some detail on this stuff. That neomorrph suit on a dark night walking around a corner, wow, you talk about freaked out

Alien: Covenant Movie

Release Date:

May 19th, 2017

Plot Synopsis:

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in ALIEN with ALIEN: COVENANT, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with PROMETHEUS -- and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world -- whose sole inhabitant is the "synthetic" David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
