Not only are Titan Books publishing an Alien: Covenant prequel novel, written by Alan Dean Foster, they are also going to be publishing Alien: Covenant 2 - The Official Sequel to the Blockbuster Film! The 304-page paperback novel is expected to hit shelves on September 26th, 2017. A page on Amazon already exists, as with the Official Novelization by Alan Dean Foster, where fans can pre-order their copy.
Currently no cover artwork or synopsis have been revealed for either the prequel or sequel novels, but as new details arrive, we'll be sure to keep you informed.

The Alien franchise is taking a dramatic turn at 20th Century Studios, now owned by Disney. Currently there are two major Alien projects in development - a new Alien TV series by Noah Hawley and a new, stand-alone Alien movie being directed by Fede Alvarez. Both of which will be taking the franchise in a new direction - moving away from the Alien prequel direction Ridley Scott set out to pursue back in 2012.

I've been curious for several years in the '79 novelization of Alien there was a scene in the book where the alien had become dismembered (I believe part of its arm) by a door and it was spraying acid until it rapidly grew back. This was never incorporated into the film. Was it part of the original script or something you added? This would have been a very intriguing scene to see in the original film.
you are f==king useless i posted about this months ago and all of a sudden its breaking news, non of you read the post which is disgraceful hopefully ill get a response now...
http://www.alien-covenant.com/topic/42737 heres the link , might want to go back and ACTUALLY read it - we could have been debating this for weeks now and you guys could have had the exclusive.
The UK site was showing the novelisation and the sequel some weeks ago to be released on the same day. We now know ADF is writing a prequel with no mention from him of a sequel. Is it possible that Titan have moved the date of the prequel to some time after the movie plays but have not updated that is a prequel which incidentally is not showing as a separate item on Amazon UK.
So right now
ADF - novelisation May 23 and Prequel (no date).
Titan - novelisation May 23 and sequel 26th September.
Apologies Diesektor, Tbh I must have missed your thread. But since I have received proper confirmation I have edited the OP with a credit to you as thanks as well.
" there was a scene in the book where the alien had become dismembered (I believe part of its arm) by a door and it was spraying acid until it rapidly grew back."
I think i better elaborate a bit more on a potential origin for the Xenomorph then hey Chris ;)
As far as the books this is getting a bit confusing now lol
@theDiesektor666
i remember your post, had a bit of debate on it.. nice for the heads up....
I dont see why TWO companies/persons need to work on a Official Novel though.... And we have a Sequel and Prequel.
Reading into things from Alan Dean Foster it does appear he is at very least working on a kind of prequel to the events of Covenant... maybe also the Official Story too?
If they are making a sequel to AC its very odd so soon... only thing that i can think of is this..
There will be a Novel on AC... then a novel set prior to events of the Covenant landing... and then maybe a sequel of sorts that follows after Alien Covenant or covers things from way way in the past.
But the sequel follows a different Fork in the Road to the actual movie sequel...
It would be like someone doing a Prometheus Novelization and then doing a Prometheus 2 one that goes back to LV-223... where as the official Prometheus 2 movie takes a different route such as going to Paradise.
Thats the only logical way i can think of it happening, unless these books are to be as canon as Fire and Stone was...
The only other option is that if the sequel to AC Novel will deal with what the next movie is going to do... then the Next Movie cant be far away either.
"The novelization of ALIEN:COVENANT has been turned in and approved. I am working with Titan Publishing and Fox on what will be an original prequel to the film story. Sorry…no can hint (yet) at what it might contain".
Fact 2 Source Titan Books
We are delighted to announce that both the official novelization and official sequel to Alien: Covenant will be written by the accclaimed and multi award-winning Alan Dean Foster. Alan Dean Foster penned the novelizations of Alien,Aliens and Alien 3 (see page 11 for further information about these books).
These two statements flat out contradict each other I am quite sure Alan is writing a Prequel and Titan are behind the curve who have fed the same intel Amazon.
Alan needs to advise his publishers of what he is writing.
or the book takes place in a different setting or at a different time. Same goes for the prequel. Chill with the alternate timeline BS, dude. Don't over think it.
Also Diesektor, get over yourself. Pull your head out of your rear end.
He is working on AC Novel and then another book after.... which would be a prequel... which then off course other sites like Amazon take that its a sequel as it comes out after the official Novelization.
At least thats how i think Michelle was onto.. but i could have misunderstood
You have it the "sequel book" has been on Amazon UK for some weeks and curiously was shown to be released with the novelisation.
ADF has come along and confirmed he is actually writing a prequel not a sequel and clearly neither Titan or Amazon who have moved the date have picked up where this second book fits in. Alan has only confirmed that in recent days.
dies, I get ur frustration but surely u cant be taking things so personally?? iv posted things and it isn't till the next day someone replies. u may have been unlucky that it has been missed by admin, theyv meant to post it yet they may have had a lot of other posts to put up at the time and just not gotten to urz.
as far as the books go, I cant wait for theyr release. the books and comics make for excellent reading and insights that the films don't show for whatever reason. plus it is satisfying to know foster is doing them, someone with experience and a good reputation within this field
To Keep things simple. Would you guys prefer having Different Threads for Different Books to post Questions to ADF? Like a Pinned Topic for Questions regarding Alien Novelization, Aliens Novelization, A3 Novelization, AC Novelization, etc?
I think the one book will likely cover events set prior to AC.... i had a source who claimed to have knowledge of P2 draft, and after AC was announced they said it seems they had a change of plans but some elements seem to be carried over and it appears AC is a Aftermath in Part movie to One of the elements of the Original P2 plans.
It would have been nice to go and see what happened prior to the Covenant arriving on Paradise 10 years after David and Shaw had set off to go there..
What happened in those 10 years.
Where is Shaw now and what happened.
Did she get any answers she wanted...
If not then why not....
And so while it would have been nice to see a bit of this on film... if we are only getting these answered slightly in a Official Canon Prequel Book then its better than nothing.
So indeed it seems the one AC book will be a prequel..

Was it ever confirmed if there would actually be two books? One before and one after the official novelization?
