MemberTrilobiteNov-12-2019 1:35 AMI know there was an account for Anne Jorden in the novels but this looks a lot like the same person. Could it have been Newt's mom?
Kongzilla
MemberChestbursterNov-12-2019 3:39 AMI never thought they were alike.
Different eyes.
Different hair color/cut.

MemberFacehuggerNov-12-2019 6:38 AMYeah, why would she hot-foot it back to Hadley's Hope for a short back and sides?
Also, it was Dietrich who found the lady in the picture above. "Get over here, we've got a live one!"

MemberPraetorianNov-12-2019 7:31 AM"Cocooned Woman" is Barbara Coles (source).
"Newt's Mother" is uncredited, played by Holly De Jong (source).
Great question dk.

MemberTrilobiteNov-12-2019 2:47 PMAnn Jorden = Newts Mother, played by Holly De Jong as seen in Aliens Special Edition.

MemberDeaconNov-12-2019 4:13 PMThey do look Similar....
But as pointed out they are NOT...
This does-not Rule Out that they could have been Related, so like her Auntie... she could even had been the Last Adult to have been on the Run/Looking after Newt ;)

MemberPraetorianNov-12-2019 8:47 PMhox Yeah, why would she hot-foot it back to Hadley's Hope for a short back and sides?
Maybe they had a lice infestation like on Fury-161?? lol XD
dk
MemberTrilobiteNov-12-2019 8:52 PMViewing the movie alone, Newt's mom could have made it back. Newt did, after all and probably couldn't have driven the Tonka truck back home by herself. At any rate, I was wrong, but it is fun to think about.

MemberFacehuggerNov-13-2019 12:48 AM@dk, Oh yes, it’s certainly a fun thought. It would have perhaps been more horrifying if it had actually been Newt’s mum in the cocoon, and if Newt had caught a glimpse. Maybe that would have just been too traumatic to countenance, though.
@I Raptus, Bishop not looking too good there! It’s been a while since I saw Alien 3... did he have lice too? NB, they cut down on the lice in the theatrical release. The Special Edition is much better in this respect and a few other regards.

MemberDeaconNov-13-2019 6:55 AMWell we DONT know what Happened after that Scene of the Jordens and Until they Lost Contact with Earth... well we do a Infestation... but not the Specifics.
It is Likely that Russ was taken back and into the Infirmary and the Face Huger then Detached and he seemed Fine, so maybe they send a Team to the Site to Investigate (we can only Speculate on if some of them was Given a Special Order to try and Retrieve and Store a Specimen).
Once they Realize what was going on they may have sent some down to Eradicate the Threat but they get Infected and Killed/Captured by at least Russ Xenomorph and then Once we have a Handful of Xenomorphs its GAME OVER for the Colonist.

MemberChestbursterNov-13-2019 10:31 AMIf you haven't read it, I would really recommend "Alien: River of Pain". River of Pain is Acheron (LV-426) and we get to know the horrifying and sad story about what happened to Hadley's Hope Colony and to Newt's parents and brother.

MemberDeaconNov-13-2019 3:43 PMI guess i have to Invest in Reading some Novels ;)
I dont mind if they dont really Contradict Things, like there was ONE where Ripley had gone back to LV-426 or something between the events of Alien and Aliens... NOW thats something i would PASS!

MemberTrilobiteNov-13-2019 3:58 PMI am aware of Newt's mom's fate from ROP and it is pretty horrible.
But now it is bothering me to wonder how Newt got back to Hadley's Hope after the Derelict scene. Even if it was a short distance, she couldn't have driven the vehicle back. I suppose we can only speculate, but that can be interesting too.
BigDave
MemberDeaconNov-13-2019 4:37 PMI have not read the ROP Novel so i dont have any idea what that had shown..... Ignoring that i would have assumed her Mother had took them all back to Hadleys Hope in the Rover?
Does the ROP indicate otherwise?

MemberChestbursterNov-13-2019 8:34 PMA security team drive them back and some of them stay at the Derelict . . .
Ripley isn't involved in what happens to the colonists, BigDave. :)

MemberTrilobiteNov-13-2019 9:11 PMIn hindsight, that entire deleted scene may have been what we now see as the first Alien Universe short. To this day, when I watch Aliens, I only watch the DC.
hox
MemberFacehuggerNov-14-2019 10:14 AM@dk, I'm sure Newt made it back with a rescue team. After all, in the final few moments at the derelict we see her mum making a Mayday call declaring things out of control.

MemberPraetorianNov-17-2019 1:03 PMIn Alan Dean Foster's Aliens novelization dk, Ripley had the same question you propose in the topic, below.
"But she couldn’t have been. If that had been Newt’s mother, the girl would have been beyond catatonia by now. Gone, withdrawn, and unreachable, perhaps forever."
Aliens novelization, page 171.

MemberPraetorianNov-23-2019 12:54 PMJust came across this video. Might give you come closure
BigDave
MemberDeaconNov-25-2019 6:44 AMI think it really depends on what we CONSIDER as Canon as every Comic and Novel are not really Consistent with every detail.
The Video raises a Good Point regarding the LACK of Human Bodies on Hadleys Hope and so we can Safely Assume that Bodies where taken to the HIVE even if Dead for some Purpose or Another.
Which would mean we can ONLY Speculate on that Purpose, because we have in the Movies Especially been shown they NEED a Living Host to Gestate a Xenomorph.....
There is a LOT that we dont really know about the Xenomorph, there are Aspects that are Explored from Comic, Game and Novel that do-not Match.... by that i mean that ONE Media Format could explain a Certain Aspect of the Xenomorph in ONE way while another could tackle that same Aspect in a Entirely Different way.
I would think it would be FITTING and Gruesome if the Xenomorph Hive or Xenomorphs themselves can Affect a Corpse so that it Dissolves and Mutates to become part of the Hive Construction.... Imagine some Processes similar to the Deleted EGG MORPH scene from ALIEN.
I think that would be Interesting to Explore and Especially in a Future Movie or TV Series.

MemberXenomorphDec-04-2019 12:43 PMdk - The video uses the comic as evidence, but crops out a large chunk ripped out of Anne's head in one comic panel that would instantly torpedo his point. It also completely glosses over the different hair colours of the women - and I think it never makes mention of them being two different actresses.
It's typical of the lazy click-bait drivel from Alien Theory (when he's not just reading out things other people have written).
