Most hate AVP, but I like it! I just have one silly observation/question

The whole area was solid ice and only the Predators could drill down to the complex. Yet, the Queen fell into water on the surface at the end. Was there a volcanic hot spring there somehow?
I know most hate the movie anyway, but for those who liked it, how do we reconcile this?

Also, why would the Queen attack the Predator when it had an embryo inside it? Seems against Alien 3 protocol.

Bouvetøya Island is pretty small. I presume that when the protagonists were spat out of the Predator tunnel they were quite close to the edge of the island.
The Queen was really pissed off when it got buried in the ice. Maybe they have different motivations to regular Xenomorphs. She can, for example, start laying eggs again if she gets a chance.

Yep, i just got flashbacks of that ****ty movie. Still hate AVP 2004

dk I read somewhere (reddit i think?) that had an acceptable answer to this.
The Queen knew Scar had an embryo, but attacked him as the risk he posed by not attacking him out-weighed killing him and the embryo. He was an unacceptable threat to her existence (and her hive).
As the Queen she could reproduce and replace that embryo (even if it was a formidable pred-alien).
The 'Runner' in Aien 3 refused to kill Ripley because her embryo was a reproductive Queen. In this case the embryo's survival outweighed the life of the lone Runner.
The Runner's roles then was to ensure Ripley lived long enough to birth the new queen to start a new hive.

Bouvet is an island. The Queen fell into the water that surrounds the island. A whaling station is necessarily right next to water.

Thanks. Been a while since seeing it but I thought it was some sort of pit and not the shore.

I think the Movie is not bad, as a Stand Alone Popcorn Action Flick, its not bad at all.....
I dont like the Time-Line though or Predator Chariots of the Gods plot.... i would rather had seen a AVP that was based more on the Games Time-Line of like Post Aliens.
But as Stand Alone Popcorn Flick it was Good for Action... and well its NOT as bad as its Sequel ;)

Yes BigDave, I thoroughly enjoy this movie as a stand alone pop corn flick.

Ha Ha.... Nice Share Leto..
Wonder if we can Find 21 Similarities between AVPR and Alien Covenant ;)

I don't like the first AVP film, nor do I hate it, but I do like it a lot better than The Predator (2018).

Leto Nice find! That seems too close to be a coincidence. I wonder if there were writers involved in both movies or if there was an old script or template writers worked from for both movies.

Dark Nebula I have to agree that AVP is better than Predator 2018. Both are good popcorn flicks but I think AVP has more re watch value.

I still have yet to Watch The Predator but its on my Cable TV Service next week so i will watch it then, surely it cant be as bad as AVPR! lol

BigDave I don't think anything is as bad or worse than AVPR.

'The Predator' is really really bad. 'AVPR' is also really really bad. There's not much to choose between them in terms of badness, so don't plan on having a good night's viewing, BigDave.
I actually quite like AVP, on the other hand. It's a good suspense/action movie. I still wish they'd never meshed the Alien and Predator universe, but AVP is streets ahead of these other two turkeys.

I think The Predator is worth watching once. It's unapologetic over the top sci fi entertainment meant for checking your brain at the door. Some of the humor is juvenile and there is a weird lull in the middle, but it picks back up.
AVP is good pure sci fi geeky fun while AVPR is possibly the worst movie made for its genre ever.

This movie has aged remarkably well in the face of the fourth Predator movie. In comparison, it's really not that bad.
