recently, ridley scott made  a comment about gradually moving away from the aliens and focusing on a.i instead.

a couple months ago ridley scott said something about us going to the engineer planet and that 3 or 4 partys would be involved.

now assuming that the colonists are a party, the engineers are a party and david is a party, this leavs room for one more party. if these are the most likely the xenomorphs or the marines. the thing is if there is no xenomorphs then why would the marines show up. this leads me to the conclusion that the xenomorphs are the last party. this directly contradicts his more resent statments about the xenomorphs not really being in the movie.

at first I assued that he just changed his mind but almost 3 months ago, he told the press that the script was already finished.

also in the older interview he said it would be like a war of the worlds story. this gives us the impression of a horror war movie. the newer interview is making it sound like a more ponderous story like promethous.

honestly, this dosn't really add up at all. if this makes sense to you, tell me in the comments because Iam very confused.

Yes, but with whom to talk in English? On Planet 4 all is left are some human rotting human bodies, a preserved vivisected one and an offline robot, which they should restore with no knowledge of binary logic (according to David). On the other planet it is very doubtful that they will be willing to speak to anyone.

Yes...but it would make no sense for them to talk to each other in English.

Man did Ridley get lazy with the Engineer design in AC.

it wouldn't bother me if it wasn't in English with subtitles but like I said, having them start out in their native tongue and then morph it into English saves people moaning about having to read subtitles.

critters. u could say he got lazy. im just so disappointed the engineers have been made to look so weak and haven't been used properly imo

Yea I hated how human they looked in Prometheus and now in AC they look retarded.

@redguy

The part about Childbirth with Dr Shaw i was referring to David being able to give her a Traditional Fetus and not a Trilobite, when i saw the Leaked shots from set that had those baby skulls i noticed they was Human Baby Skulls not Apes, and that got me to wonder if David had entered a COVENANT with Dr Shaw.  And in this i mean David as part of a deal said he could allow Dr Shaw to bare Children so THEY can start  A NEW and i wondered why David would do this? Was it a Olive Branch to make up for Destroying the Engineers?

So that this world could become a NEW Place for a NEW start, where David informs Shaw he believes he can find a way so she can Give Birth to Human Babies before something went wrong, and David experimented on these.

But alas, with AC out we find out mainly from Davids Notes that these are Engineer Infants... so my theory was wrong, but i think i was not far off with some of it because the Advent Viral Video indeed states that David washed the Engineer World Clean so Dr Shaw and he Could start a NEW EDEN so you have to wonder what his plans was for her if she accepted what he intended.

As for the Ripley Replicant, being created from Daniels, indeed only a Clone that can be artificially aged or like a Replicant would fit with the Time-Line but i am not sure this would be a good idea.

@red0guy

Prometheus was intended as a Prequel that would have had more Alien Franchise Connections, but then FOX decided it did not have to be much about the Xenomorph or Directly showing/telling about the Space Jockey and so it was changed a bit.  The connections are there but just vaguely,  then with a sequel they wanted to explore the Engineers more but again FOX felt nope... Fans did not like Engineers and needed to see the Xenomorph and how it was created and so again RS had to change direction.

so the above also applies to Thoughts_Dreams and your other reply in that the number of changes they keep making is not helping things at all, its basically like a make it up as you go along instead of sticking to a Plan... we can see how Star Wars EP8 suffered likewise because fans felt EP7 was too much like earlier movies so they changed things for that movie and brushed things aside set up by the first one.. much like AC did with Prometheus.

Sometimes you have to NOT try and Please FANS but stick to a Coherent story/plan.

I will add red0guy you raised very good points about how easy the Engineers could not control their Bio-Weapons or Protect against them, the only way out of this is reveal that these guys had Stolen all that Stuff or they played a Role under a Higher Race who they Rebelled against and they attempted to use their Creators Technology and it back fired... I ACTUALLY think this is what will be revealed. I am also wondering if Humans could be revealed as being much more Ancient and Powerful than we believe.. well our Ancestors. (not Engineers) ;)

As for the Dialog of the Engineers this is a tricky one...

I dont think they can introduce them in any meaningful way if they are going to talk some Language we are not going to understand, in Prometheus it was not so bad because (and especially the cut down scene we ended up with) it did not matter too much.

If we see them again then unless they have little screen time or they hardly speak, then i think it would be very wise for them to use SUBTITLES

If they use English i think it would be just a bit odd, the only way i can think of is using ONE/TWO of the following.

1) When Engineers speak to Engineers give us it English but when speaking to Non-Engineers we get Subtitles, but this could confuse the Audience.

2) When the Engineers speak we use Subtitles, until a point when the Engineers use some-kind of Technology on a Human where they can then Translate and then we either have the Engineers that speak to this Human speak now in English, or the Engineers can somehow Telepathically or other means take the information from the Device and then can Speak English to the Humans.

I would say option 2 would be the better option.

The Engineers need to be handled better, but i feel the damage done in AC can only be undone (given more credibility) if they go one of these routes.

A) They reveal another Race above the Engineers, and the LV-223 kind just evolved themselves with the other Races Tech.

B) The LV-223 Engineers Evolved themselves with Technology or are the result of Genetic Engineering, a basic attempt of those Planet 4 Engineers or others above them, doing what Weyland had done with David and Tyrell with the Replicants

C) Reveal another Race and show they allowed some to become evolved to LV-223 Engineers, but others not to be.

D) Just reveal those Planet 4 Engineers are another Subspecies of the LV-223 Engineers.

Look after Shaw and Rachel I've stayed away from Star wars, as I did not want to see how yet another character from films I liked gets killed because they don't know what to do with them. This applies even to Logan, as it has to show explicit the death and burial of the main character instead of them disappearing into the Horizon as in Shane which it rips-off.

Star Wars?  LOL

I get what you mean ha ha...  but boy Disney loves this kind of thing...

I guess the great hope for Prometheus Haters is if Disney make a movie then David will be kissed bye bye and the Engineers will be Ret-conned into very Heavy CGI Alien looking Creatures likely in BLUE lol

Suppose if they give it the Cthulhu Mythos kind of Vibe, it may pass well we do have Chaugnar Faugn

Big Dave: I think that most of the criticism was about bad characters (you can search for bad characters + Prometheus) and you will see that most of the criticism (as far as I know) was about that, not the Engineers as far as I know. Fox was totally wrong when they thought that the Engineers were the problem and that it didn't have Xenomorphs. As far as I know the lack of Xenos were not a big problem at all at least not as big as a lack of interesting characters were concerned.

When I watch Prometheus now what I have a problem with is the bad character writing or at least how they come off at screen and not the lack of Xenomorphs. I like that Prometheus did something new with the monsters and actually that is something that I think that they did good since I first first saw it. They should have looked closer at the criticism and thought about that a bit more before they decided what they should do with the movie after Prometheus.

DeaconMember10193 XPDec-18-2017 5:43 PM

Prometheus had a number of Problems,  Characters were not used as much as they was in other Alien Movies, and yes we have our Characters who are there for just limited purpose...  Take FORD (Katie Dickie) she also played (in SW EP8) a member of General Hux Team in a small role on the Bridge of one of the New Order Star Ships, this limited role is the same as her role in Prometheus...   Where Prometheus Failed was more important Characters were not Developed well and had some issues... yes we had some not pleased with Fifield and Milburn, but Ultimately it was that Holloway, Shaw, Weyland, Vickers, and to a degree Ravel and Chance (not as important Characters) were not really that well done... or Acted to well either.  Only David and Janek stood out as being well Written and Done.

But indeed their was back lash regarding the Engineers, not so much the appearance but the whole going down the route of them being Our Creators and playing the Ancient Aliens Card... this disappointed a percentage of Fans.

The Next Disappointment i feel for most fans, was there was no ALIENS so to speak, by that we dont mean NO Xenomorphs, but no actual Aliens killing and hunting down people...  We only had the Hammerpede Attack and then Not so Alien Zombie Fifield, replacing the Xenomorphs of Alien/Aliens. Yes we got the Deacon but because it never did anything it upset Fans...   It would be like if AC was a longer movie, where there was NO Neomorph infections until latter and the Gestation was longer and it came out on the ship but was stuck in the Med Pay until some of the Crew Returned and it escaped got shot at and Blew the Ship up, killing say 5-6 members of the Cast instead.   Then we see David infects Oram, and kills Rosenthal.

Then on the Covenant David kills Ricks and Upworth and we see Oram Chest Burst and see the same Chest Buster and then we get the Credits.... Fans would be like WTF!!!!

so i think Prometheus got a lot of Flack for no Actual Aliens, not No Xenomorphs..

The other Problem is fans expected the movie to be a Prequel so we would START to uncover HOW/WHEN the Xenomorph was Created and HOW it got to the Derelict on LV-426... and Prometheus did not provide many fans enough Answers, and when they heard a sequel was to not give them but explore the Engineers more, there was a bit more Back Lash!

And then Finally you had some Fans, who wanted more Direct Clues/Prequel to Alien and see Eggs, Face Huggers, Chest Busters Xenomorphs... how did the Eggs get on the Derelict? a Queen?

so there was a lot for Fans to Complain about... and Blomkamps Alien 5 gained a lot of interest..

So FOX Felt.. Hang On... we needed to bring in (1) A Alien Monster Threat (2) Explain how the Xenomorph Eggs was Created in the First Place (3) Show the Xenomorph in some stage of its Evolution (4) maybe distance from the Engineers would-be Gods and Shaw and her Questions.

Ridley Scott was so pleased with Fassbender and the David Character, that he felt he still needed to be the Center of this next movie and throw the Curve-ball of David Creating the Xenomorph with the Engineers Bio-Weapon and for the purpose of pursuing his own Creation/Playing God and using it against Mankind who he felt bitter against.
