This is free form silliness since we have been serious for some time. Please adhere to forum rules of basic decency.
Other than that- go for it!

I don't know if this is "decent" but it sure is funny. And notice the amputation and self repair, I think it influenced Covenant in how the robots can heal lol

joylitt That was absolutely terrible and I love it! I am surprised MST3K hasn't covered this since I have seen them all.
I think the amputation and repair was likely bad filming and people not paying attention lol! I love those sh%tty movies!

How about shameless ripoffs. I wonder is Covenant will get one.

Some of the best comedy is observing people trying to be serious and utterly failing!

dk You mean unintended comedy. So what do you think about the flute scene. Is it unintended comedy? How were we supposed to take those lines. Fassbender says the lines with a straight face and yet it is funny.

joylitt Interesting question. My better half and myself watched and I told her all about the scene before hand. When we watched, we both looked at each other and said, what is the big deal? We got it but don't think it deserved a big to do about questions of sexuality identity. We just don't GAF about that stuff. In a way, I think it adds to the complexity of David.

dk What I mean is that was funny no matter if you are gay or straight. How are you going to parody that. You just can't. Maybe you can add some Barry White soundtrack but that's it lol

joylitt LOL- I suppose the only way to parody would be with a suggestive soundtrack- maybe with slightly overdriven guitars with a wah pedal!

OK. I am ripping from a previous Silliness thread to try to set the tone.

I need to watch Paul again LOL! Besides Weaver is in it!

I guess that it fits better with the Xeno Queen :D

The joy I've found so far is that Pop Music video with xeno jumping wall to wall in the red ship corridor then joined by the dancing neomorph.

A Joker Xeno :D Since they tend to take traits from their host: I wonder how it was able to defeat him and if it took a long time being that the Joker is crazy and unpredictable.

Thoughts_Dreams Xenos don't have humor- they are just marauding godless killing machines and that is probably how it bested the Joker.
That is a really cool xeno. Are there other pics? I never saw that before.

@dk
That gif of David touching everything is hilarious.
Also, speaking of Alien ripoffs, did anyone see Passengers? I saw it for the first time last night, and so many concepts seemed straight from Prometheus, like the hypersleep pods and the medi-pod.
Plus, the colony ship full of sleeping colonists was quite like Covenant, but I guess Passengers came first, so it'd be a question of who ripped off whom.

I have Passengers based on a member's recommendation but haven't watched yet.
Speaking of rip offs, I wonder if calling it inspired or influenced might be a better word. For instance, I saw obvious nods from older sci fi movies in What Happened to Monday done in a good way. Tough call sometimes.

@dk
You're right, "inspiration" is certainly kinder terminology than "ripoff".
After all, Passengers didn't make me like Prometheus or Covenant any less, and I enjoyed the similarities.
It's nice we Sci-Fis pass ideas back and fourth and expand on them. That's really how art should be.

VivisectedEngineer There is bound to be a lot of "borrowing" with Sci Fi movies. After all, it seems to be about the human condition and a sense of wonder. There was Metropolis, but if we really want to nit pick, it is arguable we owe it all to the first known sci fi movie, "Le Voyage dans la Lune". I actually watched it and ultimately liked it for its ideas (not the limited production of its time. You have to work with what is available).
