Watch the Ridley Scott and Michael Fassbender interview made in May. In the video Scott says that he loves his films equally and answers several questions about Alien Covenant and the films’ universe including Ripley’s possible return.
Yes, he talks about Ripley’s return in an interview which was made before the US premiere of Covenant! He mentions that two other films should be made before even considering her.

Very interesting stuff! I can't blame Scott for loving his films so much, he's done really impressive work on them. I can't even begin to imagine how Ripley is going to be worked in, but I trust that it's going to be equally awesome.
Thanks for posting!

Indeed i saw this a while back....
The Question is how does Ripley come back to it?
She is someones Daughter, means the connection could be via a Parent, but then he mentions about Ripley coming back... he has in other interviews mentioned about Ripley and how they can De-Age Miss Weaver.
The Time-line will simply not add up though.
Ellen Ripley was born in 2092 and so she would be aged 12 but nearly 13 at the time of Covenant.
If she is on the Covenant and it is due to take 7.5 years to Origae-6 then it would be the year 2112 and so 10 years before Alien by the time the Covenant arrives on Origae-6
And so its a big ask to cover a 19-20 year old Ripley and then have her then get up to what ever she does to become a Warrant Officer etc and then end up on the Nostromo in less than 10 years.
RS said 2 more movies, and so maybe he means 2 more Prequels and then a 3rd movie could see Ripley, which by the Time frame of movies heading to Alien could mean that in 2 more movies time we could see a Ripley Connection more closer to the 2122 Timeline of ALIEN
How would this be? cover her just before she joins the Nostromo Crew and how do they De-Age Miss Weaver who in 2-3 movies time would be what about 75 and get her to play a Younger late 20's Ripley or the same age she was in Alien.
And then if its her Parents thats the connection.. again would her Parents leave a 10-12 year old Daughter (dont know when the Covenant left) and go off on a Colony mission that would be a 14-15 year round trip so they would never see her again for a while?
I cant buy that....
So the connection must be a Parent or Parents who leave on a Mission to maybe intercept the Covenant or head to Origae-6 in a more latter timeline where Ripley would be a Woman in her 20's doing her own thing etc.

VivisectedEngineer - Glad you like it!
BigDave - It was in May, things have changed, if we get an AC sequel, it will/should be a packed one, full of events and characters. Otherwise...

Bringing Ripley back is desperation. Lets move on.
We need to look forward and build a future for this franchise rather than tipping our hat to the past.
Prometheus opened the universe to endless possibilities. A:C closed the door halfway. Now Ripley would just be the end i reckon. Move on. Ripley is done.
Why does RS not only answer prepared questions so he can handle them. Rather than speaking on every part of the Universe when asked with what seems like the knowledge of a casual fan
Take This.... This is the blood of our lord

Done with Ripley. She was a solitary character full of GREAT characters in a great film. She happened to be the sole survivor, but that doesn't mean she "deserves" to live on in perpetuity. She's not THAT strong of a character. What is she, Superman? (or Woman?) It just seems silly to keep bringing her up over and over, and revolving movies around someone like her.
Done with Ripley.
That said, very good interview, and thanks for posting!

Starlogger - You are welcome.
Your previous comment reflects my point of view as well.
sherris - You're agreed. Let's move on. :)
