Noomi Rapace is featured in the high concept sci fi Netflix movie "What Happened to Monday". She plays 7 characters named after the days of the week, who live in a dystopian future plagued by over population. Glenn Close and Willem Dafoe also star. It airs on August 18. Are you looking forward to watch this?

I don't get Netflix so I will never see it. On Hulu, yes but that is unlikely.

I saw the trailer for this some time ago but it looked gnarly. Noomi and Dafoe? Sign me up! The concept was pretty neat too, can never have too many Noomi's :P

@dk you really should invest in some netflix. Some of the best films I've ever seen have been on that that I would've NEVER even considered. "We Need to Talk About Kevin", "Camp X-Ray", "Short Term 12", "Things We Lost in the Fire", "I Don't Feel at Home In this World Anymore", "Sing Street", "The Fundamentals of Caring", "Fruitvale Station", "Beasts of No Nation", etc... All were movies I would've NEVER ever seen I found on there.

Starlogger Do you know if these movies would ever be released on blu ray? I tried to look for the blu ray of "Beasts of no nation" in Amazon but I couldn't find it.

Seems interesting... i know Rappace got some stick for Prometheus but i think she is a very underrated Actress and so a lot was to do with the Script.... look at Theron and Pearce and their Characters and how they came off... definitely not in the best performances by their standards due to the Script.  But it appears Rappace get the most stick.

By all means Dr Shaw is not the best Character, but anyone who sees some of Noomis other work can surely see given a Character Arc/Change for Dr Shaw and there was potential.

Looks very interesting and i think this has the potential to show some of the versatility of Noomi Rappace, i dont have Netflix but i am considering it and Amazon as well i pay £50+ of my Cable Bill for Sky Movies/Sports and i like watch 2-3 movies and 5-7 Sports events a Month so i dont make much use of it.

Maybe Netflix plus Prime is a alternative for me and Good movies i want to see that are not on this, i am sure i can find places to Rent them for like £3 or even buy Digital Download or DVDs

I really hope Thoughts_Dreams sees this post ;)

If they have Netflix they should give it a chance, as i think this could show that Noomi Rappace is underated, and i FEEL and HOPE that anyone who sees this TV Series may be left thinking.

Darn it.... She was pretty good, a Prometheus Sequel with a better Written and Broken Dr Shaw Character could have been Great.

PS i dont think Miss Weaver could pull off playing 7 different characters ;)

BigDave I agree. It is rather puzzling how they made this character the way it was given the fact that Rapace had a reputation of an explosive, intimidating and smart kickass babe because of the "Girl with the Dragon Tatoo" films. Admittedly, she is at her best in moments of extreme violence like the medpod scene.

Totally could have evolved into the Heroine Character, you can imagine all she had was her Faith....

She lost everything.... nothing to live for, not for her.

But the Chance offered to her by David to meet these Engineers well go to where they came from and find her answers even if the chances are slim. She would rather chance dying and finding out.

Why we was created, Why they visited and invested time in us, to then just want to kill us.  And what Agenda do they have, are they the ones in charge... or who do they work for and who created them.

She would risk not finding those but just death, than to go back to Earth without ever knowing....

Now what happens to a Woman who has been through so much, that only her FAITH and Quest for Answers is all she has left.... to Then Find her Answers, but find out these make her FAITH Worthless and based of Lives, and the TRUTH being far more Horrific and further away from her Faith then even the events of Prometheus.

This would Truly Break Her...  What does she do then? Give Up?  or Fight... would she want Revenge and Retribution, or could the effect even send her more Crazy than David had became.

so yes there was potential, and also Noomi can play a Bad Ass, she is just Small is all, because she is not over 5ft10 like Waterson and Weaver, maybe people would not take her as that Heroine.

But indeed she is like a Pocket Rocket, i do think her Height has held her back, if she was say 5ft9" or 5ft10" i am sure she would get more of the Action Heroine kind of roles.

@joylitt No i don't think they are going to be, since they've already been on streaming for quite some time now (at least most of them). Idris Elba is FANTASTIC in beasts of no nation. A must see. In fact, all those I listed are truly must - sees and will move you in some way. That's why I have Netflix...my wife and I get to see these fantastic movies that don't get their due.

And, joylitt, you know there are no hard feelings here...nothing personal given any opinion differences in any thread, I hope...

There's always just the internet. Download or stream any Netflix original stuff. That's how I saw most of DareDevil season 1 before I reluctantly nabbed someone's free Netflix. It has a lot of crap (lots!) but it has some good things on there from time to time.

I liked the first trailer for this movie more than the action heavy newer trailer. I don't remember seeing netflix attached to the original trailer or I just missed it. It felt like an European trailer vs an American trailer. Looks decent and Rapace is an awesome actress, really love her. She's a pretty huge actress so I assumed she would have lost of work past Prometheus. Defoe is immortal so you can't miss that.

We have to be careful not to suggest viewing other than by legal means.

What Happened to Monday looks pretty awesome. I would probably get Netflix if a true Alien spin off like has been discussed on the forum ever came out. Otherwise I cannot justify paying for a channel when I don't watch much TV anyway.

Ive found it good for in between movies and next season shows that aren't on Netflix. Shows on there (Australian channel) like The Expanse, Znation, Arrow, The 100 etc are awesome!

Starlogger

MemberChestbursterAug-01-2017 3:36 PM

@IRaptus also "Bloodline", "Ozark" (haven't watched but hear it is superb), "Last Chance U" (a documentary series about kids on the fringe trying to make it into a decent college by playing American football), "Santa Clarita Diet", "Schitt's Creek", etc., are all fantastic series on netflix. They have really upped their game.

@dk my wife and I watch basically ZERO tv. We watch GoT on streaming, and Netflix, or Amazon. We have a bank of concert videos on Blu-ray and DVD that we turn to occasionally and we may every now and then watch HGTV for some Chuck and Joanna Gaines (give it up, Waco!!!), but that's all the "TV" we watch as well. I'm an avid reader, she's not, so that gives us our "special time" in the evenings to decompress together....

Starlogger thanks, Ill check them all out!!

My wife and I are similar to you, we mostly watch series or movies on Netflix or DVD, not tv.

I think Alien Covenant was the first time Ive been to the cinema in about 2 years lol.

MemberChestbursterAug-01-2017 3:59 PM

@IRaptus same here with A:C. We went to it together but I cannot recall the last "theater" movie we saw before that, lol.

Starlogger and joylitt All right- between the two of you I took the Netflix plunge. It is also a gift to my wife who has wanted it for a while so it works out nicely. Now I have to wait until Aug 18th to see What Happened to Monday but at least I can view whenever I feel like it after that!

We watch Hulu+ and DVDs and use internet and antenna for news. Got rid of cable years ago.

The character of Shaw sucks but that doesn’t mean that Rapace is a bad actor. I have seen some movies that she was in and they are OK but I didn’t like Shaw. Maybe it has got to do with the characters that they are given and how it is executed on-screen.

I don’t have Netflix but that one seems interesting.

Thoughts_Dreams That's what I think too. I hated Shaw but not the actor Noomi.
