Well there it is. The prequel novel has nothing to do with David and Shaw

Unfortunately...This shouldn't shock anybody...By now we should have all gotten used to lowered expectations.
So now we are looking forward to an Alien novel which is a Space espionage & sabotage thriller.
Great. Next we will find out that "Alien" was just a bad dream by Ellen Ripley implanted by corporate agents out to discredit the Weyland-Yutani corporation.

Exactly. It was cooked up by some environmentalist faction that wanted to stop Weyland-Yutani from polluting space. Lol
The synopsis indicates an obscenely generic story. I have been disappointed with Fox and Ridley lately but now I'm questioning their sanity.

*facepalms and grins* Seriously!?
Eine Theorie die nicht auf Etwas solidem basiert ist für gewöhnlich nur Geschwätz.

I think the original plan was to drag these out like a Netflix series. Unfortunately Ridley has left the farm so to speak when trying to tell a coherent story with "believable" characters............. Lindelhof just quoted that Covenant DID NOT make it to paradise or Origin. This planet we see is just another outpost. I think David now heads to the real home planet with all his science projects and a jockey flies them off near the end to 426, but who knows.

This sounds absolutely terrible. On the bright side we didn't have to wait until the book is released to be disappointed.

I wonder if they killed their own sales potential by releasing that information.

CT, I wouldn't count on it. LOL Herjee, i don't mind android frankensteins, bald schwarzeneggers, premature bursters or a mother hen called Shaw.
I can even ignore minor plot holes or flaws. I just want story consistency "across the board".
In that regard it is remarkable that the "great" R. Scott fails where the "lesser ones" do not.

Oh, gee....wow....yet another EVIL CORPORATE CONSPIRACY PLOT...how 'original'.
Yeah, this tears it.
I'm de-coupling MY perspective of the ALIENverse from 'canon'. as I refuse to work with grey sludge that offers nothing interesting.
That said, ALIEN: Manticore sure won't be related to this franchise's plunge into the grey mists of cliche` and worn-out ideas.
And there'll be very few, if any, mentions of Weyland-Yutani.
It's a big universe, there's more than just the one corporation.
IN SPACE THERE IS NO WARNING

Since things are going hog wild, I think the next novelization should go in this direction and style with David as the star.

Oh man, i just started reading the AC novel, i will just have to plug on with it and see where it goe's lol!

was looking forward to the prequel when it comes out, hopefully things change, lol!

Yeah there should be tons of other corporations, and they should all be evil. Weyland as John Galt - space as a dystopian, free-market, "wild west"...

I hope Disney buys the ALIEN franchise from FOX, then it'd have a chance to become something better than the grey sludge it's becoming.
IN SPACE THERE IS NO WARNING

To make it worse, he probably copied it from the first 2 episodes of "The Expanse" - he watched it then thought "i know what i could write about..."
evil corporation. rich mans daughter kidnap.
