MemberFacehuggerJun-07-2017 10:01 AMWhat is the plan here?? We just have had confirmation that the prequel novel won't even discuss the Engineers or Shaw, not to mention rumors that Awakening will just be an Aliens clone. Why did we chase Ridley away from these God-like beings?? Were we really that easily offended by something other than evolution?? Are we really that pathetic that a piece of FICTIONs idea of our origins was enough to make us actually ANGRY????? Great job guys! Really, astounding work! And now this franchise is run into the ground because of us. Congrats guys. Congrats that you couldn't handle something that questions evolution.

MemberOvomorphJun-07-2017 10:15 AMCould you direct me to the confirmation that the prequel Novel won't discuss Shaw or the Engineers please. Ive not seen that. I can't see what it could hope to achieve without covering them if I'm honest. Ive been really looking forward to reading it.
And I agree with a lot you say. I really enjoyed the whole Engineers vibe and want more expansion on them in every way possible. It's a shame, Ridley was sort of forced away from that whole thing it seems.

Who did confirm this?

“As the colony ship Covenant prepares for launch, and the final members of the crew are chosen, a series of violent events reveal a conspiracy to sabotage the launch. Yet the perpetrators remain hidden behind a veil of secrecy. The threat reaches all the way up to Hideo Yutani—the head of the newly merged Weyland-Yutani Corporation—when his daughter is kidnapped. Is the conspiracy the product of corporate espionage, or is it something even more sinister?
While Captain Jacob Branson and his wife Daniels prepare the ship, Security chief Dan Lopé signs a key member of his team, and together they seek to stop the technologically advanced saboteurs before anyone else is killed, and the ship itself is destroyed in orbit.”
Not what I was expecting either.

MemberFacehuggerJun-07-2017 10:39 AM@Dark Nebula. Thank you very much.
You have single-handedly ruined 6 months of my rehab with one short post...
Really? A Tom Clancy wanna-be thriller about finding a saboteur? I know they can do better than that...Is this some sort of sick joke that God is playing on the Alien franchise...?

MemberFacehuggerJun-07-2017 10:40 AMLol just lol at all this mess. This had great potential of being something great. Now its just another b-story.
Cop out to the max
Is there an agenda the mods are not telling us about? ;)

MemberOvomorphJun-07-2017 10:58 AMThat synopsis sounds incredibly...not what I wanted. Just curious though, where was the confirmation the prequel novel was going to cover the story of David & Shaw post Prometheus?

Technologically advanced saboteurs hmmmmm

MemberChestbursterJun-07-2017 11:24 AMThis doesn't necessarily mean it won't address David and Shaw at all. Titan Books will certainly not spoil the juicy bits of the story with an official synopsis. ;)

MemberChestbursterJun-07-2017 12:11 PMThe problem i have with this is, if david and shaw were in the book it would be a massive selling point and for them to print what they have, is not a good luck for us fans.
IMO there is a high probability that this story is not about David and Shaw.
I had planned on buying it but im not so sure i want to now.
partly our acceptance around a:c was that we had a prequel book coming and would contain the missing 10 yrs.
Perhaps someone just though it was David and Shaw story when it wasnt. Either way just another massive blow for us.
If this is true then, a:c was a bigger mess than i thought.
the franchise will be lucky to survive this with any credibility
Take This.... This is the blood of our lord

MemberChestbursterJun-07-2017 12:15 PMDidn't notice this thread. I just posted another on the same topic.
I am beyond pissed.
I wish, but judging by the synopsis, I can't imagine there being a chance in hell the book will cover anything outside of what's been revealed. It's possible yes, but it seems highly unlikely. If they were going to do that I'd imagine the synopsis would begin with something like "While David and Dr Shaw have left for the home world of the engineers..."

MemberChestbursterJun-07-2017 12:31 PMQES, yes possibly. It sadly starts to amuse me how Foxland-Scottani is fucking up the franchise. *shakes his head*
Luckily they sold Star Wars, couple of years ago. I don't dare to imagine what they would've done to it.

MemberFacehuggerJun-07-2017 1:25 PMI'm with the OP on this. Wouldn't it technically not be that Fox and Scott are ruining the franchise, but more that "fans" bitched and moaned that the Alien sequels were bad with too many Aliens or a queen, then Scott made Prometheus but people whined that there wasn't enough Aliens and it didn't answer enough questions about the Alien origin, so Scott tossed the direction of Prometheus and threw in more Aliens, now everyone is mad that the origin is somewhat explained and the Engineers are gone. I wish Scott could have gone the direction he wanted and told a long story over multiple movies to fit everything that people want to see and know. I fear we will just keep getting Horror/Action mashups that don't tell the whole story.
Sorry for the probably incoherent rant. I'm typing fast at work but hate reading all of the polar opposite reviews and impressions. No one is happy with all of it because it isn't what "they" wanted it to be.

MemberPraetorianJun-07-2017 1:58 PMRipleys_Ghost in defence of the Alien fan-fiction writers on here I think any one of us could have produced a much, much more exciting story than this lol.
This sounds incredibly boring and dull.
Not to mention a story with an already forgone conclusion. So not only will it be boring and dull, but likely predictable with no suspense whatsoever because we already know the launch succeeds.

MemberTrilobiteJun-07-2017 2:04 PMI guess that settles it. It seems BWW and IRaptus have their work cut out for them.

MemberNeomorphJun-07-2017 2:07 PMIf that is what really happened before the mission, there is no way the crew wouldn't have been discussing the possibility of a sabotage when they got struck by the "neutrino burst". And by the way, who funded the Covenant colony mission if it was not Weyland Yutani?

MemberFacehuggerJun-07-2017 2:20 PMAlien426 you are comiñg across as blaming fans and that reeks of immaturity. I discuss my issues with these films here but I dont insult others. It's also just beyond laughable that you would accuse the tiny population here of fans for being responsible for Ridleys possible change in direction. I suggest you go to YouTube and Twitter to spread your vitriol against the VAST GENERAL PUBLIC who refused to support Covenant. If one would rather be precious about it here then so be it! Hope you find that inner peace one day.

MemberPraetorianJun-07-2017 2:31 PMdk I think Blackwinter-witch's Manticore story would be a perfect straight fit for a bridge between Prometheus and Covenant :)

MemberFacehuggerJun-07-2017 3:05 PMYutani had to have known about the discovery of the Engineers, and this prequel novel sounds like it will help create a more layered "ALIEN" world that ventures outside of the Xeno being the main focus. Maybe I'm alone here, but I want to read this, NOW! It sounds great!
Clearly all Wyeland-Yutani synthetics are far too advanced and making humans seem inferior, and it seems that Scott wants ADF to bring this into more of a connected (not directly) universe to Blade Runner; A Corporate agenda with bad robots, good robots, human origins, space gods, and Xeno, our old pal.

MemberNeomorphJun-07-2017 3:29 PMIt sounds weird. Maybe after all the Covenant backlash Fox had this guy switch the engineer prequel he already had written for some generic espionage template so they can save the engineers for later. I always thought that the story of Shaw looking for answers could be potentially too good to just dump it into a novel that few people are going to read. Specially given the lack of ideas in Hollywood.

MemberFacehuggerJun-07-2017 3:39 PMlet's get back to reality here. I hardly saw anyone bitching about there not being enough xenos. It was actually why the fek are all these scientists stupid (and not just every day stupid more like a 5 year old would act) and why are there so many plot holes and just a general muddled to everything involved even outside the film. And it looks like that's carrying on :D . Very few were saying oh it all makes sense to me but i hated it because no xenos were there. In fact i can't remember any exact moments i saw this. This is nothing to do with fans. This is a crap production team messing up again and again... who's in charge i guess mainly fox but with a lot of Ridley etc... they completely missed what people didn't like about Prometheus and almost did the same. Adding xenos because they thought that was the problem hmm... anyway don't sink the book yet until we really know everything...
"It's almost as if they are making it up as they go along" :D
