Holy Firkin Schmitt ! Well clucking bell, at last someone has posted a question that I’ve been hoping to see. I think David was defo referencing M.U.T.H.U.R. and also that he was ……….wait for it…… waiting for the delivery system in which to store embryos. He knew Walter had something for him. Whether Walter knew what he was doing is another question. Just how would you pass along alien DNA to someone else. Get them to play a flute by any chance ?

It does make you think about some of the opening scenes.

I really do believe that he is referencing MUTHUR. I wrote on another forum that I found it interesting that at the end of the movie David enters the area of the ship housing the embryos by having MUTHUR unlock the door using an access code with his name in the code. The question is why would MUTHUR recognize that code? I would assume only certain members of the crew would have access to that part of the ship based on the value of the cargo. I think that the piano scene at the beginning of the movie is a type of foreshadowing, the landscape scene in the room looks somewhat familiar to "Paradise"

This is the wonder of such a scene... it could have TWO meanings.

Certainly meant he needed a HOST... but then how did David conduct other experiments without Hosts... regardless there had to be no Hosts to play Mother to the Alien Embryo.

Could it had meant MUTHUR?

Thats up for debate.... Ridley Scott now seems to be showing more interest in AI than the Xenomorph, why he has thrown the Curve-ball that David creates the Xenomorph... so our Creation Ultimately leads to our Destruction the ultimate Hubris.

Here is where things could get interesting.... in ALIEN Ash and MUTHUR had been working together.... How much does the Company know.. and why in Aliens they knew so little... then we had Alien 3 and i am sure many have speculated to what if AI is playing a Huge Role behind the Scenes?

So could Ridley be exploring AI on a broader Scale.. this seems a bit to much the Matrix and Terminator style Plot.

But lets just look at Alien Covenant... did David manage to implant some Virus/Code in the SOS sent out that was intercepted by the Covenant... one that would secretly hack the Computer?

When David gets on board the Covenant, he inputs a CODE... that code was DAVID0XXXX (dont remember the exact numbers etc) but then MUTHUR referred to him as David and not Walter.

This is something a number of fans have overlooked... some have spotted it which includes a Video on Youtube, but they think David knew the CODES because he hacked or borrowed Walters CPU and so had knowledge of these codes.

However why would a CODE be a DAVID0XXXX what ever?

And if David knew the Codes off Walter, why did he not know about the Cabin on the Lake that gave him away to Daniels.

Welcome and indeed, seems you had same conclusions as i, as i was writing my reply just as you must have been doing yours ;)

There was a Extended Synopsis that then got removed.. which expanded on the Synopsis by mentioning that the Covenant Crew come across a threat, but the real Danger is in the form of a unsuspected source..

Or something like this... which leads us to think does that mean Walter or MUTHUR had a hidden Agenda?

We find out Walter certainly does not... but he could have a background secret program running that he is not aware of.

David referenced his own name and stated it was a "new code" for M.U.T.H.U.R....Tennesee had taken the AI offline and rebooted her before she woke up on schedule with David at the moniter. Wonder if David, being a sleepless android and having obviously monitored the growth and process of the xenomorph on board, did a little tinkering overnight? 

Lets Remember that David is Weylands "Son" the chosen one so David might have access to Muther from the start. as I'm sure Weyland could also access Muther on any ship with his own unique codes. 

Or as SailorSaturn suggests while Mother is online maybe David hacked the system. Either way david has full control of Mother, the ship and 2002 people to experiment on.

 i like the theory regarding muthur and the possibilities that david is in total control.

i would like to expand on this if i could?

they made a big deal of walter - the marketing etc.. so after watching a:c i felt it was a bit of a let down as they had made such a big deal out of his character and it was never explored on screen enough really.

so i thought the walter story had more to be told at somepoint.

so if david can assume control of muthur, surely there is a way of assuming control of walter.

whether this is a hack and he gains control of walter, or can command anything of him through an update or programming.

so if this is possible, david could have walter working in the city for him. or could go back for him and he now has a team

david at the top. muthur  and walter are davids team.  he programs and commands them both now.

possibly to run his army or help him achieve god status, whatever that looks like??????????

what if david AND walter are on the ship?????

Sherris i think David did take control of Walter. the android we see on the covenant at the end is the android Walter, but David somehow uploaded himself in Walters body. When the fought Walter told David the he had been updated since David was made. Stands to reason David would want the physical upgrades without the restrictions of Walters programing.  Also the nail wound in his chin was not there. I think David was beaten to much by Walter to be functional but he was able to upload into Walter because he programming aloud it.

yes that could indeed be true.

there is obviously a reason behind it and we can only debate.

i do think however that if david somehow swaps with walter, then there is a possibility that he could do the same to muthur.

there werent too many twists in a:c if the same is true for a:a then one of the theories we have could have a real chance of coming to fruition.

I agree, though i also think one of the reasons Muther is given that name is because she is somehow actually Davids Mother. or at least their programming are so similar that Weyland used it when creating David. So i think the two are more linked then just him having accesss. Muthers tone with david was not the same as it was with the crew. It was far more personal and even a little  submissive.
