I can't believe the wait is finally over! My spouse and I are seeing AC tomorrow, first showing at 12 PM in San Diego. I've purposely avoided reading any in-depth spoilers so I'm only familiar with about 5-10% of the film. In true geek fashion, we've been watching movies this week that influenced the original Alien (The Thing, Queen of Blood, Forbidden Planet, etc) I'm a die-hard Prometheus fan and we're going to watch that tonight. Before seeing Covenant tomorrow we are going to watch all of the prequel clips with the crew, and then we're going to head over to the the theaters right after. CAN'T WAIT!! Thanks to Chris and all of the contibutors/writers on this site - you made an unbearable wait something I truly enjoyed! T-minus 25 hours!

Hope you enjoy...
Be plenty to talk about afterwards thats for sure

HA! I will be on tonight for sure- Seeing it at 7PM EST US time. I was thinking of starting a topic and I will make sure to add "Spoiler" to it :)

Jonesy: hilarious
Ive been a bit spoiled but i am so ready to see it and still extremely exited. I took my wife and best friend to see Prometheus in the Chicago Navy Pier Imax and I loved it! My wife said that she is never going to watch an Alien move again- sort of expected that from her but my friend and I loved it!
I feel similar excitement anticipating a respected Alien movie to when the World Cup rolls around and finally starts... its been too long!
Jake Hanson sounds like a great day planned-enjoy!

Just got back from the theater a few hours ago. I have VERY mixed feelings about Covenant.
My short review: Beautifully shot, love the character development, the score was incredible and very "Alien"-esque, the back burster scene was gory and incredibly intense, and I loved seeing the Neomorphs. I hate Ridley Scott for doing what he did to Shaw, though. The scene that shows her fate didn't sit well with me throughout the rest of the film, and the real kick in the you-know-whats was the ending - very, very dark and disturbing. I liked the movie overall, I really did. But I'm deeply disappointed that a significant portion of Prometheus was flushed down the toilet and replaced with parts of the film which felt like it was trying too hard to appease those who hated the story of Shaw and the Engineers.
I felt that Prometheus lacked the character development but the storyline carried better breadth and depth. We've seen Aliens before, in different forms. We've seen Predaliens, dog/bull aliens, human-alien hybrids, etc. I would have preferred an expansion on the Prometheus story, one that answered questions and still provided us with hope that Shaw wasn't doomed like Ripley was in Alien 3. Just my initial thoughts...

That's cool you got so pumped up. I'm not a big theater goer. I can count on one hand how many movies I actually went to the theater to see over the last few years. Prometheus, Fury Road, Gotg 2, and Covenant. Most of the time I wait until digital.
No fan fair, no hoopla, just drive to the theater and buy some concessions. Plop my ass down for two hours then go home.
With the string of upcoming comic book movies due out I may frequent more. They are so bad ass in 3-d.
