I just absolutely LOVE the Alien: Covenant soundtrack by Jed Kurzell. It hearkens back to the 1979 original in every way. Got chills listening to it...

Yes, me too. It is much more than just a serviceable soundtrack. Besides the Jerry Goldsmith homages it doesn't sound generic or overblown. I like the electronic/ industrial vibe to it.

So do I!
It pays homage to Jerry Goldsmith's original score while having it's own updated eeriness about it. I cannot wait to see the movie and be taken along for the ride courtesy of the soundtrack.
Killer!

I am listening to this now, will give my thought after half way through. I love the opening (The Covenant), paying homage to Alien.

It gave me chills listening to the reworked cues from Jerry Goldmiths score!
Ridley has always said it was Jerry's best work. I have to agree!

I'll admit, I was NOT happy when I heard Kurzel was going to be the composer. He's really done NOTHING that I've liked, ever. BUT, this one...this one seems "right".

WOW? Jed Kurzel nailed it! IMO he captured the essence of Jerry Goldsmith's original score for the 1979 film and expanded on it to a degree that is just ****ing spectacular. So often it is the music as a character that can make or break a movie and I'm happy to say that the music for this film is wonderful. I'm in awe of how ****ing good it is? The movie is not even out yet and it's shaping up to be a cult classic. Way to go Ridley!

Incredible! terrifying, primordial tribal and mystical!
some of the percussion work resembles banging, or almost running. the music is definately a river of different feelings! so organic

It really does have the same feel as the 79 one, but once again I expected something more Promethean, although I ain't complaining, I'm liking it way too much.

The soundtrack is being reviews too. It is getting high marks 4.5 out 5.
Today I have been dedicated to post on as many topics as possible until I pass out from drinking too many beers.

Wow yeah the score is a thing of otherworldly beauty. The nods to Goldsmith are the cherry on top. I will be picking up this score the day it's released. I was skeptical about Jed Kurzel - I thought his score for Assassin's Creed was pretty meh. Also: why the hate for Streitenfeld's Prometheus score? I love that OST.

Chest Burster track is amazing. Been listening to it on repeat. Such a beautiful song with such a terrifying title.

What Jed did was use Goldsmith's original end credit soundtrack but was instead replaced with Howard Hanson; which when I was a kid thought Goldsmith composed it lol.

Totally unbeatable from the the other movies.

I have to listen to the whole thing, isolated. I'm receiving it tomorrow (preoredered), so I'll see. Currently though, I didn't really like it. It isn't bad, but I guess I didn't expect sections from the Alien score to be put in. I know they were reworked a bit, but it almost took me out of the exprience everytime I heard them. I kept getting to into the movie to really notice the rest of the score, so that's why I need a full listen through to really decide.
Still, no matter what, it fits the universe and that is probably most important. The tone was proper (I think) for an Alien film.

Loved it too, Chris! It sounded so eery and scary at times. My heart was rushing during the backburster-scene. it creeped me out.

I have returned to say that after listening through many times and seeing the movie thrice, I really like the soundtrack. Mr. Jurzel has done a wonderful job!

It's great. I recall something that to this day, really stands out to me.
The first time I listened to it and heard track 2 (The Covenant) I was hit by a wave of vivid feelings. It was the perfect alteration of the "USCSS Nostromo" track from Goldsmith's score.
In juxtaposition to the original, it felt like the same song, but in a time before the world was brought to ruin. A time when there was still wonder and magic. A time prior to the unleashing of the xenomorphs on the universe.
In a way it made the film feel like the true beginning of the Alien epic (even if many other aspects of the film did not feel that way)
So cool!

The A:C soundtrack is absolutely fantastic, by far the best in the series imo.
Jed Kurzell did a phenomenal job and I hope he returns for the next installment. I just can't imagine a better composer.
