Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!

Ozymandias
I met a traveller from an antique land,
Who said—“Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. . . . Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;
And on the pedestal, these words appear:
My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;
Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.”
The scene gave me the chills!
Is there an agenda the mods are not telling us about? ;)
Love how the writers consistently incorporate philosophical/biblical elements to the story, it adds an incredible depth to David 8's character.
What's the story, MUTHUR?
I feel like the entire poem goes right along with whatever he has planned.......gave me chills reading the whole thing lol........im dying to know what he learned about the engineers that made him decide that genocide was the only plausible solution.
I also am curious to know if shaw is still asleep or even alive for that matter at this point. I almost feel like she is asleep until he wakes her after he bombs the city, then tries to explain why he did that FOR HER.......she doesnt accept it and runs away..........and enter the covenant and hilarity ensues from there........
Just my take so far, cant wait to see this in 3 weeks, my wife and i have had a babysitter lined up for 6 months now lmao!!
@Ingeniero - The humanoids are who are getting bombed are not, in fact Engineers. I think you said this? They may have been the race who created the Engineers & had them destroyed for learning too much/refusing to continue to die for nothing?
I keep thinking about 'Bob', or the last Engineer stroking David's hair before ripping off his head. It was like empathy for a fellow created being who was being used by their creator to do the dirty work.
The last Engineer, beats Weyland to death with the head of his creation. David decides to destroy the humanoids on Paradise for their mis-treatment of the Engineer race/their worker race?
Shaw has wanted to know why the Engineer hated us. Maybe they hated us because we were creating life without any regard for the life we created?
I am still thinking we need to get that question answered in this movie?
I'm so reminded to the Nature Boy song used in the AC trailer from December.
There was a boy
A very strange enchanted boy
They say he wandered very far, very far
Over land and sea
A little shy and sad of eye
But very wise was he
And then one day
A lucky day he passed my way
Then we spoke of many things:
Fools and kings
Then he said to me
"The greatest thing you'll ever learn
Is to love and be loved in return"
Love, fools, kings and mighties. Back then I said that there's more to Davit than just being an antagonist and so did Myrddin365. HAH! :P
As for Shaw i think she's still sleeping, at least til the covenant arrives. But that's pure speculation.
Eine Theorie die nicht auf Etwas solidem basiert ist für gewöhnlich nur Geschwätz.
The engineers gather below like they are expecting something, notice the doors on the juggernaut open in sync with the pit. Would they normally lower the juggernaut in with some kind of captured lifeforms scavenged from terraformed worlds?
Guys,
Not Engineers...a different iteration of humanoid. Remember David is set out to destroy humanity. He doesn't think we have the right to flee our dying world and setout upon the stars.
I believe this poem lays it right out for us.
David bombs the humanoid city because he knows it will bring the engineers to investigate, at which time david can use his experimental weapons against them......

I agree KyleH.
The selection of source material inspiration for the music, literature, architecture, characters, and costume design work together for such a wonderful visual product. And we are just looking at the trailers and viral material.
It is as if each time you look into a detail, that detail shines a light on a concept you haven't considered yet (at least for myself). Yes, there has been fluff in some of the marketing (X-Rays) but most of the details such as David 8's development open the story up so much wider.
"Remember David is set out to destroy humanity. He doesn't think we have the right to flee our dying world and setout upon the stars."
Yes Rick, David 8 can be a real downer with that "I'm going to wipe you out" stuff but he does have great things to say while doing it.
david is visibly different at the end of the crossing clip. Its like he has been darkened by something. He already knows the engineers are going to bomb earth and he killed shaws husband so what could mess him up so bad? Perhaps conversion to a new belief system provided by someone??
