MemberFacehuggerApr-10-2017 7:59 AMOkay so yesterday I went to go see the movie 'LIFE' and my god I have to say it was great, it was really tense and definitely was as if Alien met gravity. I Loved it.

MemberFacehuggerApr-10-2017 8:37 AMI hate Gravity so much!!!
Every time someone compares Gravity to Life makes me want to watch it even less!

MemberFacehuggerApr-10-2017 8:44 AMwell you at least have to admit the zero-gravity sequences were inventive and risky because if it looks stupid then the audience won't enjoy it and to be honest I haven't seen gravity but I did see CinemaSins everything wrong with gravity and from what I saw, I thought the idea of it was rather stupid.

MemberFacehuggerApr-10-2017 9:17 AMI went and saw this movie and I just couldn't get into it. I blame this site....and frankly all of you :) Since I have been coming to this site (since before Prometheus) all I really want to see is more of the alien canon. I think my brain is so geared toward A:C that I can't look at other sci-fi stuff.
It was a good movie but I think I just wasn't in the right mood...

MemberFacehuggerApr-10-2017 9:19 AMyeah it is a good movie when you're in the mood for it

MemberFacehuggerApr-10-2017 10:25 AMand I know what you mean SteveRogers1973, I am trying my best not to get to hyped, trying to keep my expectations as low as possible so that when I go see it I will be viewing it for the first time that is why when I am on I typically try to avoid topics that could potentially ruin it or raise my expectation, because when you're in that mood it is hard to get out of it.

MemberFacehuggerApr-10-2017 10:42 AM@Resurgence - I'm doing pretty much the same. I'll click on some of the silly looking or more "out there" threads but I'm done with any further indepth analysis until I've seen the movie

MemberPraetorianApr-10-2017 1:28 PMI liked GRAVITY, but mainly from the fact that there's little elemenst in various scenes I get inspiration from and can outright borrow from in my writing.
But I am NOT a Sandra Bullock fan, never have been and never will be.
LIFE I have yet to see, and I don't mind spoilers, but no matter how many spoilers I get, I still want to see it and enjoy the visual telling of the story.
Like the rest of you ALIEN: Covenant is taking over my brain. :D Not a surprise, I tend to 'live' in the ALIENverse.

MemberFacehuggerApr-10-2017 9:12 PMThe very first time I saw the preview for Life, I thought "Alien + Gravity". I haven't seen it yet, but I plan to watch it at some point. The reviews were more or less on the positive side, but overall the movie sounds wholly underwhelming. That, of course, doesn't necessarily make it bad. At the very least, Gravity had some nice, crisp, clean camerawork and beautiful FX. So at the very least, that is what I would look for in Life. The horror aspect also adds appeal. And I'm a sucker for sci-fi films, especially those set on spacecraft, so the setting of Life is right up my alley.
Im glad you liked it! And the more positive reviews I hear, the more I'm looking forward to seeing it. I will probably rent it later on though. There are quite a few movies I'm interested in at the moment, and then Covenant will be released, so I will save Life until I'm in a movie drought ^_^

MemberFacehuggerApr-11-2017 5:35 AMLIFE is great fun, very well executed with a genuinely scary monster. It's worth your time and dollars.
Movies like this are thin on the ground because everybody says 'it's trying to be Alien' and then saves their money for...Alien. Don't you want more? I argue that LIFE actually did a better job of expressing the terror of that particular situation than anything since Alien itself.

MemberChestbursterApr-11-2017 9:55 AMLife delivered a tense and scary sci-fi horror experience, all thanks to a combination of good pacing, believable setting, a terrifying and practically unstoppable lifeform, sinister soundtrack, good acting (overall) and scenes that where unexpectedly brutal considering the lighter tone (also masterfully indicated by the initial music tracks) of the first act that doesn't want to prepare the viewer for the nightmare that awaits.

MemberChestbursterApr-11-2017 7:23 PMI missing in this movie that retro-sci-fi-art from ALIEN, so LIFE is just like Gravity in many shoots, predectible and many ups and downs, with very silly failures shoots, but in otherhand no lineal, tension is rising, but the end of the movie fails! Interesting movie!
