I got to say the biggest stand out of "The Last Supper"was Walter. There have been many theories on what his might be,what would his personality be like,so on and so forth.I've personally thought he'd be a bit stoic, much like Bishop. And obviously being a precursor model to Ash,he might be a bit "twitchy."The Last Supper has me looking at him a little differently now.First of,we see Walter performing a medical inspection on Daniels, which perhaps suggests that he might be The Covenant's medical officer. And while seemingly being part of the same line as David 008,he lacks David's distinctive accent. We also have the in which he helps Callie Hernandez as she's choking while everyone looks on and laughs, and replies with "I got your back."suggesting he might even have a sense of humor unlike Ash,Bishop,And David. On the choking scene,I also couldn't help but compare his reaction to the dinner scene from Alien.Of course in that when Kane starts convulsing,we're shown a brief shot of Ash who's reaction is indifferent to say the least. Not with Walter,as I stated above he helped.I'm not entirely sure what to make of Walter,he does seem to have more personality than i initially thought. But can he still be trust worthy, his helpfulness after all is simply just part of his programming. Will he turn out to be a reliable ally like Bishop?Or another android with a corporate agenda? What do you guys think?

Walter seems as complex as David. I will call it now with only the trailer, the teaser and forum talks- I think Walter will seem ambiguous but probably be a good guy- even if in an anti hero way.

Seems like a fair assumption.Lately a lot of people have been saying that David will be the hero while Walter might be the villain. After the Last Supper,I'm not so sure about that.

I reserve the right to be wrong. Based on evidence- the trailer and teaser, Walter hasn't done anything wrong. He stood by while someone got face hugged but there could be a lot of background to that.

Yeah,Unless like many have theorized and thats David in the back ground. To early to say,but Walter looks to be more on the heroic side, but that could be wrong.Could just be his programming.Kinda like Call, programmed to be nice.

Greetings, first post but I am a long time ALIEN fan, (Saw the original at the drive-in as a kid in 79.) I've also got a dash of Trekkie and I have begun to entertain this notion about David and Walter. Their dynamic reminds me a lot of Data and his "brother", Lore. You have two androids with the same dermal covering but different model schematics. We have an early model android with complex emotions who becomes self aware and malevolent, (David/ Lore) and another android of later design who-while more complex-does not have the range of emotions but still displays a more altruistic and mature air, (Walter/ Data).

(Makes me curious to see the B-4 version of Synthetics.)

And much like Star Trek-The Next Generation, both androids had an eccentric "Father", (Weyland/ Dr, Soong), who treated their creations like real children. In Weyland's case he seemed to treat David better than his own biological kid, (If Vickers was really Weyland's daughter, that is). Oddly, Weyland could also be looked at as the "absentee father" with Walter as Soong was to Data compared to his interactions with Lore. Great stuff to mull over.

I think the accent thing is more due to the fact that David was trying to emulate Peter O'Toole in Lawrence of Arabia. Something he affected to sound like his idol in a very adolescent form of hero-worship. As far as Walter's position on the ship I'll dip back into the "Trek Bag" and say he might be the Operations Manager/ Officer.

I have a theory or two I've been playing with about old David. I think David is going to be the one reoccurring element in all the prequel films. Also, and this is just a wild hunch but, I think what's left of David at the end of the final prequel film will be retrofitted/ downloaded into Ash. Think Megatron being reformatted into Galvatron, kinda sorta.

Hello and welcome Albert Wesker(cool name,i'm a big Resident Evil fan)My good friend dk here has also made the DataLore comparison as well. It's a plausible angle.Good theory on the accent as well, that's something i hadn't considered.David being downloaded into Ash is a new one.

Walter seems to be programmed more to be like Bishop, which means that he is there to help humans. He did a medical inspection of Daniels giving her vitamins of some kind. This could mean that he is programmed to be a medical droid.

He helped one of the members that was about to be choked by a piece of food. This was unlike Ash that just sat there as if he was waiting for something to happen. I immediately thought about Alien when I saw this scene, it was interesting.

Maybe he will be somewhere between Ash and Bishop? I am not sure about what conclusion that I shall make. This makes me even more interested to see what the movie will become.

I think Walter will appear be a straight up synthetic, duly following his programming to assist the crew in their mission. However I think the twist is that his overiding primary mission is to try and find out what happened to Weyland and ultimately what the Prometheus Team discovered, should any contact be made which happens.

Walter will no doubt cross swords with David and discover what David has become ' a creator ' try to shut him down and ultimately take over proceedings

David in turn will protect his new Kingdom and plans and destroy Walter, maybe even pretend to be Walter once disposed of?

Just my 20p on what becomes of Walter

Welcome. The Data/Lore comparison was made but you fleshed it out better (nice to see Trek fans).

I always assumed that, depending on the country which the android model is manufactured, or the preference of a buyer, that a synthetics accent would change. Like, David for example, had a plumb english accent because he was modeled from T.E. Lawrence (of arabia), and another potential reason could have been he was made that way because it was Peter Weylands country of origin. Just a theory at this point, although anything is to be honest haha.

In regards to Walter being twitchy or being a villain, I don't think we'll see that. It's quite a trademark for the films, at least Ridleys films, to have "bad" androids now, so I think Walter may be one of the few (like bishop) who is a straight up, run of the mill android. David's story on the other hand may not be so villainous either, I see his journey being that of mostly curiosity, rather than any malicious intent. I think that would be interesting anyway.

SO excited now, need this film to hurry up, I am getting the same exciting energy as I did when Prometheus was coming out.

Looks can be deceiving when it comes to synthetics, remember ash did a pretty good job of blending in, while hiding is motives

until ripley caught on what he was doing, "i am still collating" when asked about new info to kill the alien would arouse suspicions as well.

It would be a good twist in the covenent story if walter is the baddie, but who knows?

@Albert

Welcome aboard. Nice theory about the remnants of David being downloaded into Ash...Maybe that's worth diving into a little more.

one thing i can say for sure, they are definitely rehashing the alien original script into the ideas and plots of the remaining ones they had from Spaihts and others. There will be a similar structure to Alien, since it worked out with The Force Awakens in Star Wars the same way and now Fox has grown attention to that. You can if done correctly show a crew that gets a distress call, goes down to a planet and get infected. Normally from there they would fly back to their main ship in orbit, where the alien pops out and all are killed one by one till there is a stand-off at the end. Now they are twisting that original concept with the further ideas they had and the movies they already made. From Aliens- Alien Resurrection + Prometheus and deleted / not used ideas. So they will put a few more crew members in the story, have not an unknown distress call but the one from shaw & david. They crew itself are not mining space truckers but terraformers who want to colonize a new planet for the first time. Not one but more are infected in several ways and they cannot fly back to their ship in orbit since it blows up on the planet. Now here one by one all are picked off, except one or two and the ones left unharmed in orbit. The stand-off happens and a cliffhanger will open up the next installments to come before it finally leads up to Alien 1. They will have little flash scene moments from past, present and future with the engineers and / if godly races + few hints towards origins and deep answers but i guess not everything will be answered. Who or what leads up to the derelict in Alien 1 and what happens in the mean time is the joy to look forward to :-) I hope David is the bad ass of the story.

Thoughts_Dreams, I agree, I am reminded of Bishop with what we have seen of Walter.

After seeing the viral vid on Wally, I'll bump this thread.

He seems to me a mix of Ash and Bishop. Direct and less-curious like than David, yet helpful like Bishop.

Almost like Weyland realized the David 8 series was "too human-like", they toned down some "humanity" aspects for the Walter line.
