For those who have played Alien Isolation, you already know late in the game you find your way into the xenomorph hive and learn that there's been more than one the whole time. Now naturally i expected to run into a queen, but never did(it would made a great late game twist). It got me thinking what if there was no queen, what if the alien born from Foster was the standard xenomorph we know and it kidnapped people and begun the egg morphing process hinted at in The alternate cut of Alien. The reason i think this is when you destroy the hive some xenomorph survive,if there was a queen a possible psychic link would have killed them of right? What do you guy's think?

Movie fan: I would suggest the egg morphing. The idea of a queen is alright but it has been used so much by now (Aliens, Alien 3, AR, and maybe more) so it probably won’t hurt to try something else. Good luck, let us know when you are finished with the script.

it would be cool to work in both and tie them together.

Then I will be using egg morphing, many creepy elements ;)

"If a queen is born then how does it produce eggs?"
Possibly through A-sexual reproduction which many organisms including some sharks and reptiles are capable of.

"Another thing we know about a xenomorph hive is that while the queen lays the eggs, drones are responsible for capturing and cocooning human hosts. They're also responsible for transporting eggs for the host (think of Newt). While it's not impossible for this to happen, but the idea of a guy stumbling across the queen, getting face hugged an sitting there till it bursts is a little silly."
In the time a queen spends maturing into an adult, there is no reasons why she couldn't prowl air ducts and dark conduits (as an adolescent) seeking potential 'first hosts' to capture and take to the place where she is planning to lay eggs. There's also no reason why she can't cocoon them herself. She really would only need to capture one or two hosts, cocoon them near her laying spot, then settle in and let her ovipositor mature (probably in less than a day) to start producing the first eggs for her initial hosts.

"After all there are a few corpses found on Sevastopol that were victims of chestburster, meaning they were found before it could happen."
What do you mean they were found before it could happen?

Thanks for pointing some things out. These are some things i hadn't considered. What i meant there is that they were found before the alien could burst through.

Having trouble recalling that part of the game. It's been a year since I played through it. Is this when you go into the morgue?

My gal and I are currently playing through it this month (very slowly) so maybe I'll get the chance to revisit the scene you speak of. Is this during the in-game situation or is it a log on one of the Sevastopol terminals?

Well first of all there is Foster's corpse Lying on the operating table in the San Cristobel medical center. But also in there you can find a corpse in a wheelchair that appears to be the victim of a chestburster. For further reference check out Alien Isolation on the avp wikia, the other corpse's are acknowledged there. That's were i did a lot of my research, because It's been about six months since i last played it but i did remember the second corpse. There might be more.If you find any more let me know.

"This actually calls the queens reproductive capabilities into question,on whether another alien is required or not."

It isn't.

Been a while, but I saw chest burst victims in the area I escaped with all the eggs.

nin

It was the last level.

It was right after you get caught and encased by the xeno. There's a dead body with a burst chest right in front of you.

I'm aware there are people on the ship that get the ol' chestburst treatment. I just saw the one fellow two nights ago in that control room chair.

When I read your post I thought you were saying that there were others who were impregnated and the burster was killed before it could be born.

Repasting what you said that I wasn't clear on in it's original context.

"Another thing we know about a xenomorph hive is that while the queen lays the eggs, drones are responsible for capturing and cocooning human hosts. They're also responsible for transporting eggs for the host (think of Newt). While it's not impossible for this to happen, but the idea of a guy stumbling across the queen, getting face hugged an sitting there till it bursts is a little silly. After all there are a few corpses found on Sevastopol that were victims of chestburster, meaning they were found before it could happen. This is why i think egg morphing is a better scenario, even for the birth of a queen."

I am confused on the point you were making about what others who were chestbursted proves for your main point which was

"Now it is official that there is a queen on board but i think there are a lot of holes in this idea."

Can you clarify on what you were trying to get at with the chestburster comment?

Queen Elizabeth Shaw I'll do my best.Ok I think what I'm trying to say is that with some victims they had been found and pulled from the hive or wherever they may have been found(example being the guy in the wheelchair).I think if a queen was the first alien on the station, the likelihood of finding people is a lot smaller.

Another shot at clearing this up.I think in the case of some of the chestburster victims is that i think they may have been found with a facehugger already attached to there face mainly thanks to the fact that there found in i suppose more public places like the hospital.Im sorry when i read it myself i understand your confusion.I hope these help clear it up,if not i'll try harder next time.

I think SM said something like a queen may have been there but the idea was   pulled so the player wouldn't focus on it.

Either way, I don't recall any evidence in game pointing to a queen. The developers wanted to stick to Scott's vision though.

ninXeno426

MemberPraetorianJan-24-2017 9:58 PM

I don't think there is a queen  either .That's why egg morphing is a better idea.I think Foster birthed a drone and it started kidnapping people and turning them into eggs.

I played all the way through last year.

This go round, we are only at the point where we first have to run from androids because we've entered the restricted area without authorization.

In regards to clearing up the confusion, I think I understand what you mean. Are you saying it would appear these people were facehugged in a public place as opposed to being cocooned and having the hatching occur in the hive while stuck to the walls?

MemberFacehuggerJan-25-2017 11:26 AM

I've had really bad flu the last two weeks and have watched a You Tuber named Pewdiepie play the game from start to finish . . .

The annoying thing is I have an Xbox but rarely play on it, much like Big Dave, and would have bought the game had I known!  Doh :)

It did look very good though i have to say if a bit repetitive, but having the Alien stalk you would be very creepy in playing time I bet?!

QES

regarding ur point on the adolescent queen moving about, its a very interesting point but from what iv read in books and after a bit of thought, id be sceptical of that happening. if there were any drones about, theyr first instinct would be to move the queen to a more secure area (sea of sorrows mentions this). she is the prize after all and the centre of the hive so I don't think theyd give her the chance to put herself at risk. though if the queen is first to hatch then ur suggestion would hold weight as theres no guessing where she has hatched and would instinctly try and grab some hosts

MemberPraetorianJan-25-2017 12:26 PM

QES,yes that's what i meant. As i said i understand your confusion,I reread and it would have confused me too had i been the reader(i wrote it in a rush .)Glad i could clear it up.Judging from your progress in the game i think the hospital is one of the next locations. The chestburster victim in the wheelchair should be easy to spot.

If you have patience like a samurai and don't mind a bit of repetitive level design yet love the Alien aesthetic, I highly recommend Alien Isolation.

Being chased by the xeno while mostly unarmed is scary to say the least, and partly the basis of my comment (other being the theatrical cut of Alien) that I find the xeno insta-kill scarier then egg-morphing. One mistake equals game over (man)

Just get a pair of high quality headphones if you don't have it already or a massive surround set.

This game is a must-have.

EDIT: Despite you having watched the game from start to finish, I'd say the journey counts here as this is one of those few old-school style games where the environments tell a story.

@Neomorph - You may just have sold it to me :) I used to love games when I was younger but I'd say the last time I had a spell playing was about 5-6 years ago with Hitman and Call of Duty type games.

Might be time to dust off the controls and get back at it!  It did look awesome.

Adding to Neomorph

I spent a lot of time hiding looking at enemies' feet walk past me lol. It is easy to get immersed in the game, and one of the most important habits to develop is to save your progress often. If you die, you will start from your last save point. Sometimes I had a multi step task to perform- I saved after each step to avoid having to do it all again in case I died.

Like Neomorph said- headphones are highly recommended since there are subtle audio cues easily missed with conventional speakers. I even shut off the musical score.

The game can get pretty tense and it seemed best to play with 2 or 3 hour sessions- mileage will vary. It is a long game but worth the time.
