if the planet had indigenous live aswell as engineers on it when david infects the planet with the black goo and the result is plant life with spores etc, then it makes snese that there would be thousands of adult aliens of different forms already on the planet no?surely david hasn't wiped out all life without there being anything walking around.

I've thought that myself.  It does suggest David wasn't totally to blame if no life exists.

I guess we don't know up to now - the synopsis I don't think can be taken too literally re only inhabitant.

If there was life and now it's all gone it could be due to a lot of reasons.

There is definitely plant life so you have to assume bugs and what not if Earth's anything to go by.  So if they have all gone, why?  Perhaps they were never there, just a forest world that the engineers used?

It is intriguing.

Thats something ive been curious about myself. The film synapse says David is Paradise's sole inhabitant but surely he cant be the only thing alive on the planet(if you consider being an android alive).

Nothing the God of biomechanics wouldn't let you in heaven for

Assuming any of the aforementioned is accurate-

- There's no lifeforms big enough to be used as hosts

- Any that might be big enough are smart enough not to go near the big scary spaceship

We have been told that the Protomorph already exists on the planet when the covenant arrives. My theory is that they come from insect life that was tampered with by the accelerant. (I believe this is what the Hammerpedes were meant to suggest.) The XX121, then, is a result of further experimentation with these Protomorphs

It is more likely that we will find out how Xenos were created long ago, than the we will see them created in this movie. Riddles said in an interview that sci Fi only works if you make rules and stick to them. The information that's been put out for public consumption is very likely the rules of his world that he intends to follow. That means Xenos are OLD have been around since before the catastrophe on LV-223 and will not be "innovated" in this film. We may see more primitive versions of them, but we won't see "new" ones. At about 1:47 Sir Scott starts discussing his opinions on sci fi

Safe? Of course he isn't safe, but he's good!

As SM pointed out...... yes thats seems to be the case...

I will add its a Oversight more than any Plot Hole... i get them mixed up lol....   But its a oversight really....  movies are made to not be Perfect.... the Eagle Eyed can spot flaws..

Prometheus Sacrificial Scene for example.... cant be the start of life... because Green Vegetation exists so its actually the process where Basic Life is Evolved to Complex... the Engineer Sacrifice being the Catalyst...

Paradise Vegetation.. would need Life, in order for it to exist..  They have Trod on a Tricky Path with maybe showing the Black Goo Spreads to create Spores.. Yet Vegetation is not infected...

Unless only some Vegetation is infected or something was feeding off the Ancient Spore/Mushroom like Plants and got there DNA Fused with the Goo.

But we are supposed to look in detail like that... its intended we overlook such things.

So as SM says... it offers us better explanation if only small life like Ant sized or worm.. is around but we dont see them and anything larger.. like Mouse or Rabbit sized simply ran off or are not within the vicinity.

FOX need to be Careful how they show us the Black Goo to Spore connection... and those Mummified bodies because of potentially contradicting what Prometheus shown... what the Drafts shown...

So any Black Goo infection could be a isolated event...?

Not a mass scale one... as surely  if Paradise had Birds, Fish, Rodents never mind larger... what becomes of them?

Dissolve to nothing and their DNA becomes nothing...  Is this what happens to the Engineers?

Its a Simple and Easy and Lazy Cop Out way to explain things..

I am sure AC is going to be Torn apart worse then Prometheus by those who bashed a lot of Prometheus from the details and flaws stand point

SPOILER............

For those who have not seen the leaked Prop Photos.. the Workshop.....   and then read the supposed Real Leak....

Which claims yes David experimented on a maner of Wild Animals... the AVP guys seem to buy this... and indeed it could make sense as well David would need Genetic Material and Life to Experiment on..

But the so called leak is just looking at those leaks.. which showed Animal Skeletons....  like Turkey/Chicken ones and also what many thought are Primate/Monkey ones... but nope they are New Born Baby Human Skulls... they and Chicken/Turkey ones are there for Art Department to use purely as inspiration on the Biology when designing Creatures... many which may never even get used.

"Riddles said in an interview that sci Fi only works if you make rules and stick to them"

Sadly they dont seem to follow that, and they change things that causes contradictions....

i dont want to debate the Xeno here and AC much, but i agree the Xenomorph Eggs i think are Ancient....   this does not rule out David Re-creating them?

But we cant rule out a few things..

1) The Eggs were already on Paradise.. these are the Evolving Creature the Engineers created.

2) David popped off to investigate LV-426 and he obtained a Egg or few....

3) Something got on board with David... that when exposed to the Goo then leads to something that could create the Eggs... Fassbender teased that David and Shaw was alone... So we are supposed to be aware of.....   Worms are the easiest Plot Device to have as a sneak aboard Stow-away.

They also are the prime candidate for maybe the Chest Busted Engineers.

Oh dear i went and debated it lol

The big problem would be the Bio-Mechanics..... But again Alien and Alien Covenant the Eggs are very similar (not identical) the Face Hugger very similar very similar (not identical) and the Alien at the end of the movie.. well Poster one is very similar but not identical to the one in Alien

SM

if what u say is true and there isn't any lifeforms gig enough then id say that confirms this isn't the engineer homeworld, although id say that from everything iv seen in the trailor, the still pics provided and the basic theme wer being given about david, I would say theyr were engineers on this planet and david has brought death with him, if this is true then there HAS to have been a point where an engineer has become infected by a spore or something and has produced an alien of kinds at least. assuming david has been there for a few years at least then this organism will have settled and quite possibly infected/impregnated others and then we come back to my original question, surely there would be an adult alien of some form already there, possibly the one responsible for laying the eggs???

On the flip side of all that, I will offer a premise and extrapolate from there.

Premise: Neomorphs are black goo creatures. Xenos are not. Neomorphs can infect engineers, but the Xenos on this planet don't, or the eggs are hidden/protected well enough that they stay contained until the catastrophe removes the safe guards, but by that time the engineers on the planet have suc***b to the catastrophe and none get facehugged.

Safe? Of course he isn't safe, but he's good!

NeomorphMember1823 XPJan-05-2017 11:37 PM

interesting, so the neos are the result in being infected by the goo directly where as the xeno has come from a host for something that came from the egg?but both variants of the same basic dna structure?

Myrddin365

FacehuggerMember425 XPJan-06-2017 10:18 AM

It could be argued that the Xeno is the source of the black goo since they manage to incorporate the genetics of their hosts into their own physicality, yet maintain many base characteristics.

Safe? Of course he isn't safe, but he's good!

ali81

NeomorphMember1823 XPJan-07-2017 1:38 AM

but taking base characteristics of the host is a very general in nature, lots of species do it most noteably humans. we gestate inside a living host and we take traits from our creators, hair and eye colour, height etc including many defects such as organ defects etc. u r probably right that for the plot there is some connection between the goo and the alien in some way though, plus this would make for a more interesting plot
