Hey guys, so I just put the poster through some simple image editing and tried brightening up the actual picture a bit. If you look below the Alien's head, whayever is shown there doesn't really look like a rib cage. Also, it doesn't look like there's anything in the background that I can spot right away. The head crest just fades out. Take a look:

If you want to edit the poster and try different settings to potentially reveal hidden details, share them here! This poster isn't as cryptic as Prometheus' was, but I'm sure there's more to it. Let me know if you find anything!

I'm seeing the outline of the Deacon mural from Prometheus...

It looks like a part of a wall looking like ones in Xeno's nests. And the head is just like... there, just a random head in the middle of it:)

CHRIS PICARD - How neat! Hmm...the contours and shadowing almost make me think of the Space Jockey's head - almost. This is quite fun to contemplate! :)

If it were the mural, wouldn't we see the rib cage styling still though? It's too blurry to really tell but it definitely does not have the same shape as the Alien torso.

Edit: It does look more like hive webbing. Perhaps this is not a fully grown Xeno, but a Chestburster?! From a host we can't see, hidden behind darkness? It doesn't necessarily look like the classic Burster, but I dunno, it kind of seems like the mouth is a little big compared to the rest of the face. Anyone else?

It's quite nice looking.

CHRIS PICARD - It could be an "adolescent". That might explain the uneven facial structure. :)

Aren't they similar???

Chris

EngineerAdmin22765 XPNov-24-2016 8:01 AM

They are indeed. The original Xeno from '79 seemed to have sharper teeth along the sides, with only 4 I think, "human-like" teeth in the center. Very curious...

Indeed looks a bit less Bio-Mechanical... looks more like Alien 3 i agree...

This is a massive teaser.... we have seen so much released and teased and images officially... thats given more away than Prometheus did, or previous movies..

i know we know the movie will be a Alien Prequel... and Ridley said it would have Egg, Face Hugger, Chest Buster and Big Guy then cast members confirm Chest Busters all over place and multiple Aliens...

SEEMS TO BE GIVING TOO MUCH AWAY!!

Alien 3 and Alien R was in general a disappointment, they never as far as reception managed to do the first movies justice...  Prometheus got a lot of critics...

This Movie they had to BRING THE A-GAME

The Franchise and Ridleys Reputations at Steak....

But to give so much away?

I think this is a distraction... combined with even having Xeno/Face Huger T-Shirts for the Production Crew that was released online........

Surely they are not giving it all away?

I THINK....

They may be holding back much bigger things.... that dont relate to the Xeno with comments too, that take us off track... a Red Herring...

The movie would be about Xeno.... but i suspect its about much more and actually there is another Plot Point than the Xeno, that they are keeping wrapped up... and are going to distract us...

This is about as clear as it can get, and there's nothing hidden in the black area. Can't wait for the first trailer!

I edited it a bit.

Looks like that underneath it is its torso/ribcage or its standing on something in crawling position.Or could it be part of the xeno nest?

Its also simmilar to one scene from AVP where some guy encounters the alien in the dark tunnels, picks up the two guns, and doesn't bother shooting when another alien comes up behind him.

It reminds me of one of the 'creatures' we see on the set images, with what look to be charred or preserved corpses.

Some of them seem to suggest an engineer or humanoid grappling with a leaner figure with a more elongated head.

Could this be the latter?

I actually really like Alien Resurrection except for the last 20mins where the queen gives birth to that really weird thing and so on.

But besides that, it was a visually great movie and likable characters etc. I really liked the lead Merc who died off too soon. The guy who has a drink with the Captain of the ship in the beginning. All in all, Resurrection wasn't bad until they introduce the Ogre. That's what I call it. I hate it so much, that when I watch the movie, I literally just turn it off when they start to show it. The rest of the film is just too comical.

I also can't understand the flack that Alien 3 gets. I really like ALL the movies. The original has that old film look to it. I don't like that when I was a kid but now I LOVE it. Alien is my fav, then Prometheus. so far.

I think there is a disconnect between the fans and the people who make the movies. R. Scott I think understands what we want and has tried to give us that. He's like the middleman tween us and a bunch of idiots who would just give us B movie shock monster junk.

So what is it that fans want. For me, there is a palpable zeal for the scale and grandeur that is human origins, star travel, deep deep space and first contact. I haven't seen the perfect sci-fi yet that tackles the true heart of what I want. Ridley Scott has come the closest with Prometheus and Alien. Interstellar is the next closest.

Movies like StarWars or Arrival or Close Encounters 3rd Kind are to me, a whole different genre. Arrival, I won't even go see because I've already read about what it is and it's not what I want to see. I like the director though. Solaris with George Clooney came real close but that movie was very emo and there is no first contact really. Solaris, the object, can be argued to not be sentient but just a space copy machine. The original was great. StarTrek is fun but the aliens are too anthropomorphic and the technology is too far fetched.

Anyway. There are certain exact qualities and feelings I'm looking for that most "sci fi" or space movies fall ridiculously short of. The Martian was completely stupid to me but Mission to Mars was onto something. The Europa Report was on to something.

There's always the one-offs too. 2001 is great but it's not what I'm looking for, it just stands apart and I found the ending to be disappointing, just being honest. No alien contact is BS. Same with Contact. Love the film, but there is no Contact just a ghost of her dad. We already know that Arrival has nothing to do with Aliens or spacetravel, its just another female hero emo junk. Independence Day and the like are always awful. District 9 had potential but its not really a story about ET's or Space. Its just a comedic ghetto scene. I love Neil though because Chappie is the bomb but its not what I'm looking for.

I need a movie like Prometheus fused with Interstellar. That's my soapbox for today.

I think I know what you mean.  Sci-fi is a genre I've got into much more over the last few years, through novels mainly.  What excites and attracts me is the discovery of alien worlds & beings, the future of humanity and relatively believable technology.  Ringworld by Larry Niven and Iain M Banks' Culture novels as good examples.

When it comes to the big screen I find I am always left a little disappointed, but those you mention I agree were very good efforts.  Alien is the best though.  I'd also say 2001, Moon and The Martian also stand out.  There's others as well, Europa Report you mentioned, Under the Skin and Sunshine.

Perhaps its to do with budget or perhaps its hard to put those ideas into believable and accessible contexts for mass audiences.  I liked Avatar but it went too far for me and became a little too predictable.

I am hoping that AC may just be the one to tie in all of those themes and be a real return, no not a return to form, from Ridley, but a new form that ticks all my boxes.  The potential s definitely there and Prometheus has set it up nicely.

DeaconMember10416 XPNov-26-2016 8:01 AM

Prometheus was a chance to offer that... it was Potentially Bold and Epic.... but in reality it was executed disappointingly.

But the concept idea and theme is potentially Epic... and they now get a 2nd chance to evolve it over the next few movies

xeno murphy da 3rd

OvomorphMember13 XPNov-26-2016 9:25 PM

He looks like he fought.

His teeth are broken, his head is dented and scuffed, we might be talking about one particular xeno, rummers say they introducing Neomorphs, im also hoping to see more about the black goo and why the engineers make it (its obvious it produces life then destroys it).

I believe Scoot is gonna deliver, lets hope for closure in Alien Covenant, THIS IS GONNA BE EPIC!!

I'm sorry, but once I saw this it was impossible to un-see...

@xeno murphy da 3rd, that's a good observation! The teeth are cracked and the dome definitely looks scuffed as if it were in a fight. I wonder if we'll see an Engineer vs. Xenomorph like originally featured in the Alien: Engineers script.

@Gavin, it's a faint similarity for sure. The shape below the Xeno face does seem to resemble a cross, in a way. The Deacon mural too, features this pose. Makes you wonder...
