Continuation of "...Prometheus: The Real Plot" I'm Blitzen but will be using this account instead.

Thanks for comments from SM and BigDave

During the briefing on Prometheus, Halloway and Shaw show us cave paintings. "Here's Babylonian, Egyptian, Mesopotamian, Samarian, Mayan and Hawaiian." With the exception of Mayan and Hawaiian, all of these civilizations were before the death of Christ in the year 30CE. Mayan and Hawaiian are definitely post Christ's death. But in any event, this doesn't rule out the possibility of the theory that the events on LV223 were a mutiny by certain Engineers to defect and kill humans over the death of Jesus.

SM said that the fact that Engineers visited Earth civilizations after the death of Christ rules out the LV223 incident being over Jesus' death. On the contrary, it actually proves that the Engineers in general, are not hostile towards Earth or hell bent on erasing the population. If the main agenda of the engineers was to erase Earths humans 2000 years ago, they had opportunities to do so after the events on LV223. They didn't do it. The reason is because the military compound outbreak on LV223 was a fluke. Those Engineers defected and were put down by resistance in their own midst via the weaponized goo. There was an outbreak for sure followed by panic and the death of all the Engineers there. The only one who survived was the engineer who had already gone cryo, preparing for the rebel mission to kill people on Earth. On a side note, he was not infected until the Trilobite (octopus monster facehugger that came out of Shaw seeded him at the end of the movie). I think BigDave was asserting that he was infected prior to cryo. I don't see evidence for that.

Anyway, the fact that Engineer cave paintings were painted after Christ's death is definite proof that we're dealing with two different groups. One group is most assuredly hostile to us and we've seen them and call them Engineers. However, the other group is benign to us and are likely also engineers (perhaps even another race of Engineers but maybe only politically different).

I can't see how any of this is debatable because it only follows from deductive logic of chronological events. The events on LV223 may not have been over Jesus but we do know the date and that says a lot. It's crystal clear that a civil war happened amongst the engineers or that we're dealing with two different races of Engineer.

I think you guys may be right about a few things.

#1 We have no proof that it had anything to do with Jesus. That's true.

#2 The CE dated visitation may have been by a lone survivor or single engineer acting alone. I think the outbreak could have been larger than expected. Possibly the whole engineer species in this quadrant was wiped out...who knows. But it's certainly plausible that the engineers in this part of galaxy were wiped out by their own goo except for 1 or a few who continued to hang out on Earth.

I had some ideas about how far reaching the Engineer influence is. If they manage a few thousand star systems. Its not far fetched to think that a group of 20 of them could be in charge of a massive amount of space on the fringe of their galactic influence which includes Earth. If so, the engineer core world may not have any idea that any of this going on with LV223 and Earth because they're hundreds of lightyears away and that portion of the Space is already supposed to be stewarded by the military base in that quadrant. For all we know, the Engineer who soiled the plot to kill us 2000 years ago is still in command of protecting life in this quadrant. Perhaps he finished up business with the Mayans and Hawaiians and then went back for help, to report the mutiny on LV223.

Anyway, its fun to speculate. Cant wait till the movie.

"I think BigDave was asserting that he was infected prior to cryo. I don't see evidence for that."

The comment i made was in reference to the Evolution of Prometheus via earlier drafts, and with reference that in Spaights the Surviving Engineer was already infected with a Embryo and he was furious at being woken up...   i think this is where you misread/misinterpreted that i was on about the Prometheus Engineer but i was on about the Spaights draft.

I then explained that the Prometheus drafts Engineer did not see Hostile at First, he seemed more surprised than anything, and especially with Shaw and then looked Concerned and then upset when she was Silenced... at this point he knew that the Old Man Standing Before him only wanted his Agenda and Questions Answered... a Selfish Man Putting himself above the others a KING!  A King who thinks he should be Immortal like a God becomes he too created Life.... Life (David) that could communicate with the Engineers and use their Technology No Doubt.

The Engineer Released at this point... Mankind was still Selfish, and Cruel.. Mankind could now also Travel the Stars and find the Engineers Outposts... and there is NO WAY Mankind can be allowed to have access to Engineer Technology as then MANKIND would be the GODS NOW!

So the Engineer killed a Weyland, with Davids Head, he defended himself when attacked (shot by Security Personnel) and then set off to Earth.

He Latter after having his Ship stopped, found the Life Boat and was in Wonder at the Violin Girl, and Books on the Floor... he was not overly hostile to Shaw until she attacked him.

THIS WAS..... the Picture i felt painted by the Engineer, one which the Edit and Re-shoots painted in a different like as if he was some kind of Biological Terminator this is likely as they are now to be given a different role... and the Elders replaced with something else.

Am i correct in the way i saw the Engineer in the Full Original Scenes?  Is there Evidence?

Here is a Large Schematic of the Pilot Chamber i cant find a better one but there is out there...

Here is a low resolution French one..

Note that these are what the Carpenters and Production Crew used to build the Set..

Cryo-Chamber Number 4 that is the non-chest busted one is Labeled... Hero Chamber or Hero Pod.

Why was he a Hero?

As far as this OT....

You pick up on some good points, these are same points that provided great difficulty for me when i was trying to work on a Prometheus 2 Script.... these elements where the ones that was hard to come up with a Story that does justice.

WHY AND WHO would go for all that effort to Create us?

WHY AND WHO would visit us, teach us and evolve us then Abandon us?

WHY AND WHO would then want to destroy us and with something so horrific and uncontrollable that lead to their own Downfall.

So yes we had the Space Jesus, connection which Ridley wanted to distance from as it touches things a bit to square on the nose..  But to look at it that at the Time of the Roman Empire was when Mankind had started to become really corrupt...

Indeed some interpret that the Final Judgement of God and the Books of Revelation in the Bible are pointing to the Roman Empire at that Time.

Ridley then refereed to Jesus as a Emissary, he may not be a Engineer but maybe a Hybrid some Chosen Humanoid to then be planted on Earth to Guide us back on the right track.....

And we killed him....

But who is to say he was the only ONE Right? There could have been more, and maybe this could answer the Post Death of Christ Star Map Clues in Mayan and Hawaii etc... there was still a few other of these Engineer Emissaries on Earth at that time..

But like the Roman Empire.... in came the dawn of the New Roman Empire which was the Emergence of the American West which is now for last 50 years maybe the most influential State in the World...

The Americas before the British, Spanish and Portuguese came over and conquested was inhabited by Primitive Natives like the Mayans...

Like the rise of the Roman Empire, perhaps the wise of the Europeans taking over the Land of the Native North and South Americans eventually lead to the Engineers Emissaries in those areas of the World coming to their End also?

WOW! You're amazing brother! You know so much. I understand what you're saying about the different drafts. And that in one draft, the engineer was infected while entombed.

And yes, your analysis of his behavior both in the film and in the cut scenes is exact. I feel that your psychoanalysis of his awoken behavior is spot on. I never minded that they cut the sacrificial scene down to the lone engineer but I was always angry since I saw it in theatres, that the engineer didn't speak and I was very angry later to find that they had actually filmed more of him and then cut it. FURY. It would not have changed the major plot but would have scored HUGE with the fans and audience. IMO, the engineer speaking and his investigation of the books/awe of the violin...should have been left it. And Yes, you're correct, they provoked the heck out of the engineer.

The whole HERO thing is new to me. Thanks profusely for this, I'm going to try and explore this stuff. I don't know of any other fan sites though. Just this one. CHeers.

No Problem....

As far as the Movie goes you will be surprised how much stuff was never ever on even the Blu-Ray..

Two Images that Scenes was shot and never made it at all....

2nd One is maybe the Bible? thats a assumption but the movie had a lot of Christian mild hints... and if this was the Bible the section he is on would be around where there is Revelations if this is the New Testament.

The Sacrificial Scene had Dialog.....  there was a article after the movie came out in 2012 where the Sacrificial Engineer Actor Daniel Twiss said he had to learn a few lines of Alien Language to talk to a Elder Engineer.

There is a video and extract of the Elder Engineers dialog...  but its likely the Scene was longer and TWO WAY.

The David talks to Engineer Scene,  Fassbender said he had to learn page after page of Alien Dialect or Ancient.... and Ian Whyte who plays the Engineer Actually performed longer dialog than we saw in deleted scenes..

He and Fassbender had to learn Dialect based on Ancient PIE

They was not happy with how Ian Whyte sounded and so they dubbed him over with another Actors Voice where the Dialect on the Engineers side was just Babble.... but Fasbenders was actually a Ancient Spoken Language which Ian Whyte also had learned.

These Scenes above was key clues missing from the first wave of debates on the movie.... such as the Space Jockey Suit and what happened to the Mask when the Engineer got to the Life Boat.... a long time after these images came up and they show the Engineer does not need it for breathing LV-223 which raises why was the Outpost and Ship made to be able to support Human Respiratory Systems?

The 2nd when added to the Full Engineer Scenes on deleted section never mind those not seen yet.... did add to the intriguing way the Engineer seemed to have for Mankind.

Which with the Hero Pod Schematics could paint us a picture of why he survived and why the mission failed to Earth.... he could have been a Good Guy who Sabotaged it...

No point discussing these as for where we are going, as they may have changed the Whole Plot and Agenda Post Prometheus Shooting....  The ELDERS may never exist now.... certainly not in the way they did... and the Agenda is now maybe very Dark.

For those interested, on the ship Prometheus, David is practicing an ancient language. The words he is speaking is Schleicher's fable (is an artificial text composed in the reconstructed language Proto-Indo-European (PIE)

"[On a hill,] a sheep that had no wool saw horses, one of them pulling a heavy wagon, one carrying a big load, and one carrying a man quickly. The sheep said to the horses: "My heart pains me, seeing a man driving horses." The horses said: "Listen, sheep, our hearts pain us when we see this: a man, the master, makes the wool of the sheep into a warm garment for himself. And the sheep has no wool." Having heard this, the sheep fled into the plain.[4]"

Seems appropriate to the plot and Prometheus lol.

OvomorphMember43 XPNov-21-2016 10:26 AM

Schleichers Fable meaning to Prometheus.

The Sheep see the Horses laboring for Man.

The Sheep express sympathy for Horses but...

The Horses then explain how the Sheep are sheered for the sake of Men's warmth. And the sheep run off.

I'm grasping at thin air but Humans are obviously the sheep. And the horses are Engineers. This means that the engineers labor for a yet unseen race, maybe genetically superior engineers or even gods.

"SM said that the fact that Engineers visited Earth civilizations after the death of Christ rules out the LV223 incident being over Jesus' death."

I didn't say that.

Cryo-Chamber Number 4 that is the non-chest busted one is Labeled... Hero Chamber or Hero Pod.

Why was he a Hero?"

That's just a filmmaking term for something (usually a prop or costume) that requires more detail because it will be used in close-ups.

DeaconMember10390 XPNov-21-2016 1:46 PM

Indeed i think at the time a lot of stuff was subtile but there as far as clues to what was going on, a lot was not visual clues but via little things included Dialog too.

When Shaw mentioned she had seen something like this before in regards to the Goo... i.e Ebola in Africa... and Janeks tale of how he and a comrade had to Nuke a Facility killing all the people in it because some Scientist Split something... and how the place could be a Weapons Facility and they would not be silly enough to build it on their Door Step etc etc

While these come across as ASSUMPTIONS by the Crew, we have to remember Lindeloffs kind of work and so these are actually supposed to be clues to push us to what is going on.

But we can argue that they are just the Crews Assumptions and no Fact.... but they are intended for us the viewers to be clues.

And so yes maybe there is more to Schleichers Fable but as with the Biblical Clues and Prometheus name, its a clue but not in a way we can be too Literal.

Schleichers Fable  i have never read but looking at what you put it does seem to indicate that the Horse, and Sheep feel compassion for each others suffering and Toil.... and they have both been used for the Benefit of Man.

So we have Man, We have Sheep and Horse.

Maybe they fit into Engineers and Man... and one other Element its a case of which is which and is that 3rd element the Creators of the Engineers, The Xenomorph or even David.

When i was working on a Prometheus 2 Fan Draft... one key theme i was pondering is the Engineers and Mankind.... and how it fit in with Prometheus Mythos and Biblical... and both how the Engineers if they are Prometheus and Satan could fit as far as doing wrong....  And then how can this fit with the Sumerian Annunaki Tale.

We at the Top was the Annunaki, who created and/or commanded over the lower caste the Igigi (who would be like Angels if we connect to Biblical or Olympians if Greek).

The Igigi toiled for Gold for the Hierarchy (Annunaki)  then they rebelled against this Duty..... (Rebellion and going against Hierarchy Theme) Then the Annunaki Sacrificed one of their own to help create Mankind who would now take over the duties of the Igigi.

These 3 Mythos i tried to fuse together but came up with a number of different ways this would we could fit in the Paradise Lost Rebellion Theme, and Prometheus one..

And so maybe instead of GOLD The Hierarchy in this TALE (Prometheus-Alien Covenant) was after something else... The Annunaki Tale Gold, could be something else of great importance to the Top of the Hiearchy which is the Annunaki but in terms of Prometheus the beings above the Engineers we have yet to meet.

Why would they not want to Toil for whatever the Prometheus GOLD could be... is the work to hard? to Dangerous?

The Engineers would thus be the Igigi in this tale... and they would Rebel or some would for the Purpose they was intended for.....

1) Either the Hierarchy then created Mankind to replace the Engineers for this Purpose, and the Engineers then got Jealous as they was caste out of favor... and Engineers took revenge against their creators and then tried to Cast Dominion over Mankind...

2) The Engineers or Faction Created Mankind to carry out the Toil instead of them, against the Order and Wishes of the Hierarchy and they was attempted to be punished for this.. This failed and the Engineers then tried to Cast Dominion over Mankind...

THOSE TWO.... are in a Nutshell the Two Branches of the Theory i have for Prometheus... Its these Two that with Two more i had a while ago... like within 6-9 months after Prometheus came out.... as time went on and Prometheus 2 was planned... but before any work begin... comments by Ridley made me cast out Two other theories....

And left me with those TWO above which still today i think in part could be very close to whats going on.

Your first qoute i had check then as i thought, it was for me saying that which i never remembered saying... quick look at it was the OT  ;)

I think maybe they was misinterpret something you said or evolved it a bit.

Oh the Hero Chamber thing... SM

Rightly so, it could just be coincidence and as you said Labeled as such to High Light something of Importance i,e the only actually Pod that will be focused on in the movie... as far as the Shooting goes...

Hence why the other Chest Busted Pods, had Engineer Props with no Feet... WHY because we would never be going close up on those... and ONLY POD 4 was important.

Still cant 100% rule out if there was more to it than that, its nice to Speculate and a Heroic Deed/Sabotage could explain Why only he Survived and why the Engineers lost control of their Weapon.. like i mean come on Advanced Race no Fail Safes?  Unless it was a Accident... or Sabotage.

This also maybe backs up the seemingly Benevolent Reason for the Sacrificial Scene (One with the Elders) and Engineers Reactions (Full Shoots).

But i guess regardless of if the Hero Pod means nothing as such or did... it does not matter how the Engineers was meant to be...  as all that matters is HOW THEY ARE NOW.. going to be shown... (PS when i do CAPS i dont mean it to be shouting just to highlight a big Point within a Lot of TEXT ).

And so regardless of if our Engineer was not so hostile or not meant to be... the Cut of the movie, the Re-shot scenes and removal of the Elders and other Scenes that could indicate the Engineers in a some what Benevolent Fashion have been removed..

Maybe because of a Re-think to how these Engineers are now going to be Shown... which looks like Far from Heroic or Benevolent towards Mankind.

But as you said SM.... it could very well just be to highlight a part of the set of Importance.

OvomorphMember43 XPNov-21-2016 4:00 PM

SM, if you didn't say that then my mistake. I'm want to friends with everyone here so my bad if I got on your nerves.

The Hero pod thing. When I looked at the schematic closely, it doesn't look like it says HERO. It says H [ R 0 S or something. I don't know man. Looks blurry.

Anyway, one of you guys said that the Engineer who was asleep for 2000 years and then awoken. You know, grouchy fella who beats everyone up. One of you said that he could have been the saboteur. I think that's possible. And whether its the cut scenes or the actual film, he is instigated into hostile action if you ask me. Shaw, David Weyland and the security dude yell at him, shoot him, get up in his face....all while he just woke up. And hes like, what is this mickey mouse BS, and then starts in on them. Obviously they agitated him. But then, its very clear that he sets a direct course for Earth and starts off. Perhaps, like Dave said, he realizes that humanity became spacefaring so he changes his mind and decides to kill humans. It doesn't work for me. I think the awoken engineers is one of the rebels, one of the guys who wanted to kill humans 2000 years ago, he just happened to avoid the incident. The real saboteur, the real HERO who saved Earth is either dead or back with the rest or the Engineers.

I think the outbreak on LV223 was deliberate though, not an accident. I think one of the engineers let the goo loose on his buddies, that it wasn't just mere luck that we were spared. I may be totally wrong. Its possible that ALL the engineers hate us and that we were very close to being wiped out. But the reason we're still here is because the main fleet of engineers far far far away from LV223 still doesn't know what happened to the outpost who was in charge of Earth. They think its still business as usual so no cause for alarm. Little do they know that the outpost is dead for 2000 years and that humanity when spacefaring. They will soon figure it out though because David is about to set a dookie on fire on their doorstep.

XenomorphMember1234 XPNov-21-2016 4:07 PM

" I think that's possible. "

All they do is talk.  And mostly not to the Engineer. It's more about Weyland and Shaw arguing over what David should ask it.

The Engineer rips David's head off without any obvious provocation.

OvomorphMember43 XPNov-21-2016 4:38 PM

In the final cut, we are not shown what David says to the Engineer. That may have been provocation. The mere fact that David is synthetic may have been provocation. The mere presence of humans being there may be enough to kill them all. David put it best, he wakes up. These morons are here yelling. They created a crude fake robot to look human and the robot is trying to ask him questions. And then he realizes.....what's this? Oh its some wrinkly pathetic old man who tries to silence some whinning woman and what does he want....ohh immortality. They are all just begging to have the crap beaten out of them. They went about it all wrong and got what they deserved. This is why I initially came up with the theory that engineers really had no ill will towards Earth. For all we know they were on a mission to go there and have a meeting with some other engineers. But the writer gives up the clear impression that they made us and that they want to kill us. Then he gives us a movie ending that is 100% disappointing. We get no engineer speaking, no comradery with our maker. Just an android decapitation and some jujitsu. And then our capt and pilots who we've come to love, have to give their life to stop the alledged genocidal maniac. people have good reason to be angry over that ending. It seem the whole movie was more or less pretty good but we were joooked by a nincompoop writer who carelessly just thought up the whole plot while on the toilet. Ridley says the engineers kept visiting earth and perfecting our genome huh? Well then why is none of that in the movie, just a giant non-happening.

1. Archeological map to the stars. Exciting & Epic

2. Research Vessel, Crew & David. Exciting & Epic

3. Barren Moon Landscape & Ancient Outbreak Scene. Wonderful. Dead engineer found. Great.

4. David infecting crew member. Great. Alien Abortion, great!

Everything is leading up to a grand finale. But we get jipped. They cut out the best part, the Engineer speaking! Total insanity. Our favorite characters martyr themselves to kill the only thing we paid to see! All so some whiny Xtian woman can be the sole survivor. I want to strangle the writer for derailing a movie that was leading up to a HUGE climax but then he screws everybody. SHAW NEEDS TO DIE. KILL SHAW NOW. Bring back Janek.

XenomorphMember1234 XPNov-21-2016 4:52 PM

None of the reasons you've mentioned however are "obvious provocation". Clearly the Engineer wanted to kill them, but we don't have any idea for his reasons.

DeaconMember10390 XPNov-21-2016 5:21 PM

"The Hero pod thing"

I posted a link to a better one... there was a good one out there and there is a French one.. and English and both listed 100% HERO but as SM said this does not have to mean the Engineer was a Hero in relation to the Plot... it could be about a important part of that Set.

"One of you said that he could have been the saboteur"

I made that remark and its something we discussed on here a long time ago before those Schematics turned up...  It was when the movie was out well not long after and we was trying to figure how could a Ancient Advanced Race lose control of their Bio-Weapon... surely they would have Safety Precautions and then also we pondered how did just that Engineer Survivor.

And so as discussion indeed the possible Saboteur theory was one that could have explained this.. but this does not mean its the case.. and even if it was close.. thats not to say thats the case now..

For all intensive purposed the intention of the Movie... (we have to accept the Theatrical Cut which Ridley said was his Directors Cut too) is that the Engineer was just as angry and hell bent on going to Earth as the rest of them was.

“And hes like, what is this mickey mouse BS”

Indeed what you said before this is a good point...  i know you said you don’t agree with it, basically what i read from the Scene... but thats bare in mind the Full Scene, when looking at the Elders Scene and other Engineer Scene....  I had the Engineer as maybe someone who maybe thought we needed a second chance or to be left alone. (we was not worth the hassle it caused).... but no soon as we turn up at his Door Step (well where he was stationed) and we have Old Man Weyland wanting to live forever, bossing people around, creating a Life Form that can use Engineer Tech and Talk to them.... he then very well thought... “what is this mickey mouse BS”

But there was changes.. that are sending us down a different path Post Production... that basically as i think Ridley Said.... this guy goes into Cryo-sleep he is awoken by irritating Humans like we would be with a Fly and just Swatted us... (well the Crew) and then its back to business.

"The Engineer rips David's head off without any obvious provocation."

Indeed SM thats the Status Quo now... its what Ridley is intending...

But the scene is Cut down version which shows some signs of concern on the Engineer Face and Pitty for David....  but yes the Cut we got is intended to show he was not pleased with us...  well maybe he dont give a Hoot...  He had a mission... went to sleep.... overslept... got woken up.... was a little groggy and disorientated... finally woke up in his head... and then off with Davids Head and back to Work he went...

This is what Ridley wants us to kind of take from that scene, and so i see that yes what ever previously it may have hinted at.. is to now be ignored as far as CANNON to the intentions of those Engineers.

There was a longer cut, potentially more than we even got on the Extras...  Fassbender had to learn a lot of PIE and so did Whyte but his Dialog was overdone with a voice over that was just made up words....  there are hints as with the Elder Scene of longer versions... but i doubt we would ever see them.

Because as far as CANNON i dont think what they showed is no longer what they are going to show us...  i guess its still ok to debate Prometheus as far as maybe what it was intending..

But post Editing.... and Post Prometheus they are taking us on a different route to a degree...

"In the final cut, we are not shown what David says to the Engineer. That may have been provocation."

I can see what you mean and i agree in part... we dont know how much or how the Engineer really felt.... we can speculate.

I guess you have to put yourself in his shoes (Engineer) and maybe if we look at the Space Jesus well Emissary route... and the Fallen Angels it could link to a difference of opinion within the Engineer Society as far as Mankind and what to do with us.

The business end is... we pissed them off, we was rebellious and misbehaving and ended up turning out to be not what they intended  we was Wayward Children....

Maybe we could look at it like Parents who have a Off the Rails Child who they have tried and tried to get on the right track.... but now its time to make a stance... One Parent maybe has a Solution that the other things is a bit over the top...  they are more lenient....  then the Wayward Child proves way out of control with no remorse or signs of Change.... The other Parent has to then agree with the Solution their Partner had decided.

So yes we can maybe read into it a bit, that perhaps the Last Engineer either was not as Hell Bent... or maybe or even as well he thought we should be left to our own downfall.... leave us to Rot.... Move on...   A Covenant so to speak...

in their Arrogance maybe the Engineers never thought we would ever be able to reach the Stars or follow the Star Map.. it was never intended as a Invitation at all.... more like a This is where you come from... or some role? who knows..

The full Engineer scenes well as full as we have got on extras... does show the Engineer to be a bit surprised and intrigued at first and even after...

You get the impression though that he realizes the Purpose his Brothers had for wanting to destroy us... was the right one... and so off he went...

BUT AGAIN.. we dont have all the full shots from this movie... not even on the extras..

And regardless the Cut we Got is the way Ridley intended to now go, and so that Engineer went asleep and woke up and found pesky Humans and so he put a stop to them and then knew that "hang on... they should all be dead" and so off he went...

We dont know why he went into Cryo-sleep.... Spaights draft was to prevent the gestation of a Chest Buster... and so we have to assume it was either to get out of the way of the Outbreak.

Or he had gone there just prior to it.....   something had got to his other 3 crew mates...  its a case of NOW... was they all trying to prevent the spread of the Outbreak.. did they know they was infected?  Who knows..

FacehuggerMember119 XPNov-22-2016 11:40 PM

Alternate theory here...

I do think you're right that we could be dealing with 2 groups of Engineers. But maybe the ones who want to destroy the humans aren't the rebels. On the contrary, maybe the ones who created humans are the rebels...

I don't think Engineers are gods, or are even at the top of the chain. I think the Engineers themselves have gods or higher beings that they look up to or worship...

The black goo was given to the Engineers by these beings for some purpose. Perhaps to seed the universe with life, or perhaps for defense purposes...

A group of Engineers either got tired of worshipping them, or they got tired of using the black goo to create life on their terms. Either way, they wanted to be viewed as gods themselves...

So that group stole some of the black goo and set off to do their thing. Eventually they created humans on Earth. They visited Earth every now and then to nudge the humans forward culturally, and to be worshipped by them...

Eventually the rest of the Engineers found out what they'd done. But the deed was already done, humans already existed. So they figured why waste this life that already existed, and they gave us a chance...

They monitored us. Eventually we started being really ****ty, sinning and killing each other all the time... Then, either:

The killing of Jesus, or our actions during that general point in time were the last straw.

They decided to give us one last chance by creating a test. This is where the space Jesus (or something equivalent) comes in...

If it was a test, we obviously failed. Either way they wanted to exterminate us.

Feel free to poke any holes in this theory.

IF Jesus was even the reason... as for the post Jesus star maps...

You could chalk it up to information spreading after the Engineers left, from one culture to another and across the world.

Or the Engineers might not have left immediately after his death.

But it doesn't necessarily have to be because of Jesus. It could be because of that time period in general. Or like BigDave said, there could have been other emissaries. Plus we don't know it was 2000 years exactly. The dating could be off.

"On the contrary, maybe the ones who created humans are the rebels..."

Indeed thats one theory i had too, i think i put that in this Topic or the other.. but its one thing i have said before and a while ago..

And so the rest of your reply DirtWolf is indeed something i have touched upon and likewise i think its one option..

The Whole Bad/Good Guy aspect depends on how you look at it... without trying to upset any religious folk... we have to look say at Satan and wonder what did he do thats evil?

He has never killed no one... only as Punishment for Job but he was given that task to test him...

The Real Sin was simply not worshiping God and following his rules....  it would be like a Group of Rebels standing up to a Tyranny Rule of a Dictator... this is kind of how Paradise Lost paints Satan too.

And so the Act at the start of Prometheus may seem Benevolent but maybe only to the Agenda of the so called Gods...

I mentioned before a few times.... is the Act of a Slaughter House or even the killing of animals for food considered EVIL?

Its needed for our Survival...... so if you Eat Meat your not Evil.... but then if you was the Animals you could consider the Act of Breeding Livestock and Slaughter as not Benevolent Act if you was the Annimals...

If we was visited by Advanced Aliens like in V... imagine a more Advanced Race than that... but same purpose... so imagine if the Engineers was like the Reptiles in V...  and the Engineers Breeds Mankind to use for Food...

Seem a non-Benevolent Act....  but maybe not if we are to the Engineers as say a APE/MONKEY is to us...
