MemberOvomorphAug-10-2014 5:08 PMIf Fox have confirmed the release date, then why no other site is publishing this as breaking news?
I went to Collider.com and found nothing about Fassbender, as the article says. I wonder if they are alluding to that THREE-MONTH OLD TV interview (for X-Men) during which Fassbender said they were going to do it but didn't know when?

MemberFacehuggerAug-11-2014 9:09 AM@ Cremildo I notice you have previously stated in an earlier thread that P2 has not been officially cancelled. I think if something as drastic as it being cancelled, There would have been some major statement being made by Fox.
My greatest concern is to how much impact the passing of H R Giger may have had. If anything I would have thought any delays would have been attributed to that.
In general, I think it’s a case of sitting it out for now and believe nothing until some news comes officially from Fox. Until then I am taking everything with a pinch of salt.

MemberDeaconAug-11-2014 12:30 PMThat article i think is just a repost of the news we had a long time ago, when Fassbender said he had been approached to be part of Prometheus 2.
At this time, Fox had given the Green Light and then Ridley had then contacted Rapace and Fassbender to see if they would be part of the movie, with them both saying yes. Ridley could then start the process of getting a draft done.
This latter was passed onto Jack Paglen to work on, he must have completed and submited his draft as then Fox got Micheal Green in to go over and make changes with Paglens draft just as Lindeloff did with Spaights.
This shows the movie was going ahead and that work had been done as far as a screen play but it all went quiet.
Then we had rumours of the 2016 release date because Ridley was working on a Sci Fi movie to be released then that would begin to be shot this Fall... Ridley a few months back was looking at a few Locations in Australia and he had been seen around some of the most Barren Landscapes and Deserts..
This led to rumours these could be shooting location for Mars as Ridley was scouting for martian landscapes.
In reality these all have been due to his next movie due to shoot in Fall called "The Martian" which will come out about March 2016 but now will be released November 2015.
So as far as Prometheus 2 goes its all gone quiet but i doubt it will be canned, and if they want to use Fassbender well a Android can not age so they cant like wait 10 years to start to shoot part 2 and Ridley Scot is 76 and for both reasons i think its same to ASSUME that he would want to complete Prometheus 2 within next 2-4 years.

MemberDeaconAug-11-2014 12:46 PMI will stick my neck out and assume that no soon as Ridleys next few schedules are done and Fassbenders i,e when both have free space in their schedules then the movie will start the process of shooting.
Ridley already had the broad idea of where he wanted to go with the movie, thus we can see how the plot for Prometheus unfolded right with the David and Shaw jetting off into the sunset on a Engineer War Ship. Ridley also had another ending at the end with the Deacon. A Clever ploy to keep two areas open for a sequel incase of Schedules and stuff.
After Prometheus Ridley and Co had came out and indeed sugested that a Sequel is going to get Green Light, then we found that Fassbender would agree to be part of it.
Ridley would have with Fox, fleshed out the general idea and direction and dos and donts of how they want to proceed before this would have been put to the writting staff i,e Paglen, and then this draft would have been looked at by Ridley and Fox and then it would have need some changes that did not completely fit in with everything they wanted and last we heard was Green was given this task... we have heard nothing since then.
The next logical stage after this draft would be that Ridley and Fox make changes to it to get it to a more shooting script and then the Concept Work would had been taking place, where they draft in designers to work on putting Ridleys ideas and those in the final draft into Story Boards and Concept work.
It would appear they had not got to this stage, and maybe the death of Giger could have impacted that as i am sure they would have had him on board to give ideas and do some work on the movie.
I would say that no soon as the Martian as finished shooting so i would say about Spring next year we should hear more about a part 2... maybe sooner as when Dark Horse releases its Comic Series . Prometheus Fire and Stone #1 then maybe we would get some news..
Ridley worked with Dark Horse and gave the red light to what they could work with, and Dark Horse are not going to be going to the Engineers Homeworld but back to LV 223, so maybe Paradise and what is found there is what the movie would be following and what Paglen and Green have worked on and thus a no go area for Dark Horse.

MemberFacehuggerAug-11-2014 1:16 PMFirst of all, that article does not seem legit and gives me the impression it was written quite a while ago (not August 9, 2014 as the date says). For example, the author writes, "Lindelof was replaced by Jake Paglen, whose works include the upcoming 'Transcendence'". Um, yeah, 'Transcendence' has been out since April of this year... it is not upcoming.
Anyway, Ridley Scott has always had a full plate and Fassbender's is quickly filling these days ('Assasin's Creed', 'Trespass Against Us', 'X-Men: Apacolypse'...). However, considering that 'Prometheus' principal photography lasted only 82 days, the two of them can fit 'Prometheus 2: Paradise' in a somewhat tight window.
I too think 'P2:P' will start back up with pre-production once Scott wraps up post-production on 'The Martian'. I'm not sure when 'The Martian' will wrap up or how much pre-production on 'P2:P' has already been done/conceptualized, but once they are complete, the principal photography on 'P2:P' can begin and, who knows, could be as early as late-2015.

MemberOvomorphAug-15-2014 4:28 PMAgree with all of you. Prometheus 2 probably won't see the silver screen until at least late 2017, or mid-summer 2018.
