What did Kane tell?

In Aliens Ripley during the hearing on Nostromo destruction case said Kane had told them that he saw many other eggs in that alien spaceship. However in Alien when Kane recovered (just before his last dinner) and was asked by the rest of the crew to describe what he remembered he just didn't say anything answering very evasively. Contradiction? And BTW, was he really suffering from some sort of "amnesia" or it had something to do with Ash, who spent most of his time studying Kane and could press the case in order he didn't dwell on what had happened to him?

In Aliens, she says something like 'Kane said he saw thousands of eggs. THOUSANDS!' You're right, as far as I recall, that he didn't say that on-screen in Alien. However, he did mention something about the hold being 'filled with eggs' or something like that when he's lowered down into it. I guess Dallas or Lambert relayed that to the group at some later point, or that a conversation happened off-screen after Kane has recovered but before we drop in on them at the dinner.

As for amnesia, I imagine it has something to do with being foggy from being in a coma for however long it was. I'm not sure what you're asking or speculating in regards to Ash somehow manipulating him.

I concur COLDLOGIC, it's more than likely the conversation, all but brief, just occured off screen while they escorted Kane to the change rooms and probably conversed with him along the corridors as they did so. Then when he is all cleaned up, he possibly continued to chat along the corridors again up towards the dinner area until we pick up the conversation as they had just sat down and begun to serve food and converse some more before fate interviened with Kane's destiny.

After being lowered down, and while walking the 'catwalk' Kane says "thousands of leathery objects, like...eggs or something."

Something to that effect. Aliens still sucks though, in comparison with the original. :)

i actually have a picture of James Cameron holding his Oscar, which I throw darts at all day at the office. It is oddly satisfying.

Yeah, as he's being lowered down into the egg silo, he says "It looks like some sort of cave." And "It's full of lathery objects."

The poster was good though!

TrilobiteMember5639 XPApr-10-2014 11:19 PMThis is an incredibly compelling topic. Indeed, I don't recall Kane actually stating there were thousands of eggs on screen. Perhaps it's safe to assume that he imparted this information off-screen in a brief synopsis. Hmmm. This girl's going back to watch those films now to have a look.

Another interesting thing to consider is that in Prometheus when Janek asks how many ampules there are in the cargo of the Juggernaut Shaw says, 'thousands'...

Ahh... Yes! Good one Meshuggah! I'll have to watch Prometheus again too!

In an interview Lindelof said, "If what we see at the end of Prometheus is a queen or a progenitor of the eggs that we see in Alien is open to interpretation, we feel there are clues in the movie that lead you down a path." I think there are too many similarities between the ampules and the eggs and we have to think if the eggs were 'cargo' how would the engineers stockpile thousands of them? We can surmise that they were something else before they were eggs.

Just a thought about when you compare the number of eggs to the number of canisters in the cargo hold. The egg chamber in alien and the cargo hold are a similar shape too.

"how do you feel?"-" great, next stupid question"

Do you think that if those vases (from Prometheus) would have been observed there for a certain time they would transformed themselves into the eggs?

Interesting though ðŸ‘

I have a pretty good idea of where it is. It's just down there, in the basement....

obviously Dalas and Lambert reported back what Kane had exclaimed whilst being lowered into the Egg Chamber.....

Maybe the ampules someho w later will lower into the floor/hull and the xeno eggs will grow up from them.

You may say: 'Well what about the ampules facing sideways within the circular pillars that the red PUPS fly around?' Well, in Alien novel by Alan Dean Foster there is one or two  sentences that state something along the lines of either Dallas or Kane notices: 'A strange Urn-like shape stuck on the side of the 'wall' crumbling away. Perhaps something similar occured on the Derlict at some point.

Some people say it's a goof.  Others it's an off-screen thing.  However in the original deleted scene in which Lambert confronts Ripley, Ripley asks Lambert what happened to Kane:

Thats the only 'on-screen' comment about what happened I recall at the moment.
