The First Child
MemberOvomorphSep-09-2013 7:33 PMI have an idea, one that I have based after watching the alien franchise (including AVP, Prometheus, and predator films). I believe that the Deacon is far older than the engineers, and has a reason for trying to destroy everything in its path.
The Deacon symbolizes a demon or Lucifer like figure in this franchise.
How so?:
In AVP, the first film, the Xenomorphs were called the serpents.
In Alien 3, the Xenomorph was called a dragon.
In Prometheus, it appeared crucified on a wall, symbolizes a anti-Christ like being.
Now from this we can see that the Xenomorph is completely evil, but what for?
The Black Liquid, which contains its DNA, was stored in vases with non-engineer writing on them. These ampules symbolize Pandora's box.
The Theory: I believe that the Deacon was one of the first beings to be ever made by the creator. Once the creator started creating new beings, it became enraged, feeling like a wife who has been cheated on. In anger, the Deacon started to kill and assimilate the other children of God. When this happened, the creator imprisoned the Deacon, since he is unable to destroy anything, inside vases on a mysterious planet.
The Engineers, who were going through a civil war over whether to help or destroy humanity, found these vases and revered them to be the element of God. Speaking in mythology terms, the god engineers over through the titan engineers, who were mostly elders who wanted to keep the old commandments of God. These engineers planned to use the liquid on humans ("Sometimes to create, one must first destroy) to bring back God, who seemed to have mysteriously abandoned them. By recreating God, they themselves would become the new Gods ("we are the gods now").
This plan ended poorly for them, and all the god engineers were possibly killed or defeated by the Deacon and the remaining Titans.

MemberOvomorphSep-10-2013 5:30 AMVery interesting FirstChild I like how you put the whole Engineer civil war with those who are for and against. Its a good one and the fact that these Titans were doing something the shouldnt have done and it backfired its a warning to mankind. That if we did this kind of thing and mess with things that are not meant to be messed with than it will have consequences.

MemberDeaconSep-10-2013 8:56 AMIndeed Prometheus is maybe not just there as a name of the movie purely for the Ship which got its name from Weyland as his greatest expedtiion he decided to name it after the Titan Prometheus.
Weyland mentioned Prometheus the Titan in the TED Talk, and that Fire was Mans first piece of Technology.
But taking away the Ted Talk, is Prometheus merely the name of a Ship?
You only have to look at the Prometheus legend, and then we are left with Weyland being the closest to it, in his creation of David, maybe angered the Gods (Engineer).
But what more fits Prometheus is the Engineer Race....
They created us with the Goo or a variant, this Goo could be Stolen Fire from the Gods... Ultimately they got burnt by this Fire, which could be the outbreak and the pecking day after day of Prometheus insides could be link to the Chest Busting etc of the Xeno.
I think the Engineers was Prometheus, in that they used and then miss used the Goo and it ultimately burnt them for playing with the Gods Fire far to much.
This has to link with Shaws comments, as she did say to Holloway when he said it proved there is no God as we came from the Engineers just as some giant scale experiment.
She said, who created them (as in the Engineers) this is backed up with Ridley saying he did not want to meet God in the first movie.

MemberFacehuggerSep-10-2013 2:13 PMI too think the black goo cones from somthing older and more advanced than even the elders. Ridley talks about a god like being. And I reckon the goo is from this being weather its blood or something more I don't know. I got a feeling the elders captured it or something and thought they found god or felt in control of it. But then they found out it was just playing with them like ants. I know it could go any direction but black goo from one super god like being I reckon is highly likely. It could even be using them like workers to go out create life -let it diversify then absorb all the best abilities / traits and collect it all via xeno infestation and bring back to add to the super beings make up.

MemberDeaconSep-11-2013 9:45 AMWell there could be many different ideas behind all that is the Goo and Engineers...
Maybe they are a race who advanced themselves so far that they could no long procreate..... until they came across a Organism and means that could do so. And that the Goo is from this Organism...
Or they could have obtained the Goo or created it, and it was the only way they could pro create until they came across a Organism that Face Huged and was able to allow Engineers to bare a child again, and ok while its not normal birth they may hold the whole Chest Busting as a way that the Engineers are able to give birth to a new Organism and maybe they held this process in high regard.
Maybe they tried to then combine this Organism with their Black Goo creation Tool.
By both the above the Elders created mankind as they knew their race although they could live for thousands and thousands of years, they would eventually die out as they can no procreate.... thus they seeded Mankind as a way to procreate life but a new life in their own image..
Or maybe there is some other agenda for doing so....
Alternatively instead of the above, and i mean all above....
Maybe their is some supreme organism something that maybe is more Alien than the Xeno, or maybe not so? But this race/organism created the Engineers as pawns and slaves.
Some rebelled or even had the idea that if they created mankind then maybe we could take their place as this slave race... by that maybe some higher being/race created the Engineers as a Sacrifice to be used to produce Xeno-Decons, well they had them Face Hugged... Maybe Engineers then thought if we created another race then we could present this race as a race to be used instead of ourselves.
I would not be surprised if the real truth has elements of all the above....

MemberOvomorphSep-11-2013 10:52 PMIn the beginning of Greek mythology, there were two leading Titans who gave birth to the rest of the gods. They were a couple, and I remember one of them hiding its child so it wouldn't be eaten by its spouse.
The Deacon, which seems to assimilate and kill everything, may be this destructive god like spouse.
