I really hope the next installment takes us to the most frightening place that the human mind can conceive. That means that it should be rated Mature right from the start and when Ridley asks for 250 million dollars, the man gets what he wants imho. And absolute artistic freedom, especially from Giger is a must.
Glad you like the topic :) At times like this I really wonder what happened to this series and why it's so hard to meet or beat Alien(s).
You don\\\'t see them fucking each other over for a goddamn percentage!

PraetorianAdmin4321 XPApr-15-2013 4:29 PMI really adore the whole soundtrack from Alien 3, its was glorious, but if I had to choose just one track it would be ''Agnus Dei'' Alien 3

Come to think of it, they should have ended the series with Alien 3. I don't need another Weyland in AVP or the teenage camp sh*t in AVPR or the hentai-tentacleness and blue SJ's in Prometheus. I should have known that nothing that comes out of Hollywood these days can ever meet the standards set by Ridley & Cameron. after 34 years not even Prometheus, a 150 million dollar film that was hyped more than anything and surrounded by all bells and whistles and great actors etc, can beat the simple low-budget but efficient film called Alien that was shot in 12 weeks.

OvomorphMember0 XPApr-15-2013 2:32 PM"adagio" (from alien 3) and "space jockey" (from prometheus) are my two favorite pieces from the franchise. Since you've already posted a link for adagio, ill just supply the link to track #20 (space jockey) from the prometheus score:

I really like the scores for all 4 of the films in the franchise (alien, aliens, alien 3, and prometheus).
My aforementioned comment sorta bleeds into the point you made. For the most part, i agree with your assessment of the franchise. Alien 3 was a nice punctuation on the story from Ellen Ripley's perspective. Alien insurrection and the AVP films are all abominations and do not exist in my personal "alien franchise". However, i must, as humans often do, disagree with you regarding prometheus. The film worked/continues to work for me. Really like where it went and hope the yarn is explored further in a subsequent film/films.
In keeping with the OST topic, yeah...love the score for prometheus. I particularly enjoy tracks 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 20, and 21. beautiful stuff.
As well, Goldenthal created a beautiful score for Alien 3. Narrowing my favorite piece down to "adagio" was difficult.
cool topic. I love music for motion picture!

I don't get where all the hate for Alien 3 is coming to be honest.

OvomorphMember40 XPApr-16-2013 7:15 PMMy favorites are all from Jerry Goldsmith.

OvomorphMember40 XPApr-16-2013 7:23 PMfrom Prometheus I like; Too Close, Hammerpede, Space Jockey and Collision.
Anyway none of these compositions is compared to the work of Goldsmith, especially with the Space Jockey in LV-426.

OvomorphMember40 XPApr-16-2013 7:40 PMbtw I think that "Friend from the past" could be better if Marc Streitenfeld would have preserved more of the original sound.
