I found this! I knew Jerry Goldsmith wrote the Alien movie soundtrack But I found out about this guy.. Jonathan Elias he wrote the music for the Alien Trailer as well as many other movie trailer I love QUOTE: At Bennington, Jonathan's explorations in electronic music led to his first paying job as a composer when he scored the trailer for Ridley Scott's Alien in 1979. Elias' music-written without his ever having seen the film footage-still stands the test of time 25 years later in the ads for the film's recent DVD release. After graduation from Bennington, Jonathan went on to compose and score music for the trailers of such major motion pictures as Altered States, Back to the Future, The Thing, Blade Runner, and Wolfen. You're not being fooled Tanky! The trailers & TV Spots were so effective & Jonathan Elias's music played a huge part in making them very frightening & creepy. They are included on the Quadrilogy box set, Alien extras disc.

@tankgirl, I remember waaaayyyy back when I took my 4 year old son to see the first Star Wars movie at a theater, one of the upcoming movie previews was Alien, the preview and soundtrack scared him so much he hopped up onto my lap and stayed there until the Star Wars movie was over with.... I have the Alien Trilogy box set and in the special features there is 3 different Alien trailers
