MemberOvomorphSep-30-2012 2:48 AMIn alien the ship was redirected and crew brought out of cryo sleep when it recieved a distress call from one of the moons . At the end of prometheus , shaw sent a distress call ( supposedly the same call as in alien) . If it was the same distress call why didnt the crew of the nostromo understand it ( shaw speaking english , crew of nostromo speaking english ) .
Or is this evidence of it not being the same planet?
I throw this to you prometheus community ( quickly pulls back hands and fingers)

MemberOvomorphSep-30-2012 3:03 AMHang on until we get some screen grabs. There will be definitive proof one way or the other in a week or so as to whether or not the planets are connected.
The most terrifying fact about the universe is not that it is hostile but that it is indifferent

nostromo doesnt exist at the time of shaw, but in 35 years when it passes the moon doesnt it pick up her distress call (presumely she used a beacon with a repeating pattern) or someone elses distress call.

MemberOvomorphSep-30-2012 4:22 AMLV426 was unsurveyed when Nostromo responded to the beacon but in Prometheus the planet was surveyed. I think Shaw was warning the Weyland corporation since they knew where they went.
It looks like Scott is on the fence and wanting to see if Prometheus has the strength to be a stand alone. If not, he will try to weave it all into a series.

MemberOvomorphSep-30-2012 11:33 AMscott doesnt seem on the fence at all. he seems very pleased with prometheus + its already a financial success. He has stated numerous times (quite explicitly) that LV 426 and LV 223 are distinct and different planetoids that exist within the same "universe". Barring unforseen circumstances, prometheus will have a sequel(s).

MemberOvomorphSep-30-2012 2:20 PMHe couldn't have known if Prometheus was going to be successful before it was released and that is what I meant about him being on the fence. If he wasn't, I think he would have made this another sequel in the Alien franchise as originally intended.
It looks to me like he wanted to keep his options open and get feedback from fans before deciding definitive direction for Paradise. By giving teaser ties he made a wise move to be able to respond without losing options.

MemberOvomorphOct-01-2012 11:45 AMIm sorry to dissapoint you @Uneeque but everybody's mother knew that Prometheous would be a success. Mr. Ridley Scott does not have to play mind games with the public. He directs his films, and then it is up to you to go and watch it if you choose.
Another thing @pulderifle187 is that the distress call that Shaw sends out is not the one that the Nostromo crew picks up. Remember that Shaw is on planetoid LV-223. The distress call that the Nostromo picks up is comimg from LV-426. Also the distress call that the Nostromo picks up is in an unrecognizable language that only brings fear to the Nostromo crew themselves.
Also I agree with you @joeyjoe 100%. There will definetly be a sequel to Prometheous.

MemberDeaconOct-02-2012 8:10 AMWell lets look at things in Alien timeline...
1) Somehow the company knew something was on LV 426 and that it was some kind of Weapon... but they did not know the details. This was gained from deciphering the Warning Beacon.
2) By Aliens they had visited and started to colonize LV 426, a bit odd if they knew prior something may be on the Moon, maybe ultimately the company used the colony as a excuse and way to find out what really that Derelict Warning was about.
Yes it now leaves a plot hole as far as Shaws Message, because at the very least when the Weyland Company would have been in the process of Tera-Forming and Colonizing LV 426 then surely they would have came across Shaws SOS if LV 223 is pretty close to LV 426 and that dont have to be same System but near by.
Also you would think that at some point from 2093 to 2179 the company would have wanted to find out what became of Prometheus Mission.
Regarding the Nostromo well lets not forget that Prometheus was not the first Space Craft that Weyland Corp had created, and Alien was set 30 years after Prometheus and the Nostromo was not a brand new craft.
There is every possibility that the Nostromo Space Craft could be older than Prometheus. On Earth there are many many Cargo Ships and Fishing Boats that are many many years old some even like 50 years or more old. Yet they are still used today.
There has to be someway to explain the events of Prometheus and LV 223 as surely be the time of Aliens the company should had been able to trace some evidence of LV 223 and Shaws SOS never mind wanting to find out what became of Prometheus and the founder of Weyland Corp.
I know Ridley said he would be moving away from Alien and Aliens and the Xeno, and i think the Deacon is far too similar.
But the only way i think they could tie this up is if they do send a mission to LV 223 and thus we see another Aliens movie, and at the end someone decides to Destroy LV 223 to stop the Company getting the Weapon.....
But then after the Corp find out that there mission ended with one of the crew they send down to LV 223 deciding to destroy the planet and its contents, they then somehow come across a near by Alien Signal and thats the Space Jockey one.
And once they decode it they then know it must be connected to the Bio Weapon that they wanted to collect on LV 223.
