Can they use the SJ/ derelict in ALIEN V?

OvomorphMember0 XPSep-21-2012 1:13 PMIt’s just a thought, but here’s the thing… Ridley Scott himself, the man who made ALIEN has told us the story of the space jockey’s now, I mean I guess he will in the DC. In the DC it will probably be another company than in the sequels to ALIEN. Question: How are they then going to include ‘his’ designs (derelict space ships, Space Jockeys, space jockey chair) in a (future) ALIEN (V) film? Is this what the movie was about? To 'protect' some of his “creations” he had left in ALIEN? =>Cameron showed us that the aliens are like insects… =>Ridley now showed us that the Space Jockey’s are monks with hoodies in a suit… What a mess this is…

OvomorphMember0 XPSep-21-2012 6:38 PMThis is never gonna work...we're never going to find out what happened on lv-426. Ridley (the director from ALIEN) now took the story in a whole new direction. The SJ, derelict etc. is now canon to Prometheus, which is a dead end because 'all the answers are there'. If the director literally says THAT, no sequel. And now they can't use all this in ALIEN V, because it will not tie in to the story. *The Weyland company in Prometheus knew sth about the SJ, In ALIENS that same company Weyland-Yutani couldn't believe Ripley, declaring her a nut.) This thing is turning into a real nightmare...

OvomorphMember3 XPSep-21-2012 1:39 PM@Gimmeafacehug i lol'd at "monks with hoodies in a suit", funny but true they should have stuck with stuck with the jockey being a creature rather than a suit as well as it not being the creators of humans which i think shrinks the universe a lot more because of the fact that everything has to link back to humanity...

And not at all completely Alien like we all imagined they were in the first place. That guy needs to wake up and smell the **** he keeps shovelling. It reeks.

DeaconMember10390 XPSep-21-2012 5:20 PMI think he was playing with us when he said things like that... The Alien is Part Human. He could well be on about he Deacon which is part Human well has Human DNA. But he has done it to mislead us to think that the Xeno is part human, like how he said this movie is about the Progenitor again he is being misleading and ambiguous. Does The Deacon become the Progenitor to the Xeno? Well he never said the Deacon he just said the movie is about the Progenitor. And the Engineers are shown in this movie to be the Progenitor to Mankind and thats maybe what he means but he is doing it in a ambiguous way to make us think that by combining those comments (Alien is part Human) and (Movie is about the Progenitor) that this means the Deacon must lead to the Xeno? The Mural is also a little Ambiguous in that it does look a little like the Deacon but also has some elements that look more Xeno than Deacon.

DeaconMember10390 XPSep-21-2012 5:23 PMAs far as if they made a Alien 5 set after Alien resurrection and then bring in the Derelict/Juggernauts and Engineers/Space Jockeys then yes they could do. And they could do it as canon. But again Fox have the Rights and so could make Aliens vs Engineers vs Predators if they wanted lol.

FacehuggerMember143 XPSep-21-2012 5:33 PMYes it is messy - pretty sure the SJ is men to be the engineers and it was redesigned due to budgets even though this is a $200 film :O ! Using a man painted white is allot cheaper than a gaint very alien looking cool SJ- I just hope they redesign the elders to look better - more alien and mad looking!

OvomorphMember0 XPSep-21-2012 9:03 PMThere are so many little facets to the overall alien series and being people who really love the alien universe, we all(if that's ok to say)want it to all jive and make sense. Not so much to ask you wouldn't think? But heres the thing...Its an evolving story. To be the devils advocate here for a sec, I think that as much as we may dislike where some aspects of the story have gone, they have and so we have to expect the possibility that subjects such as the SJ may not be what we wanted them to be. The sj in Alien may have been a huge elaphentine being in comparison to the humanoid Prometheus engineers, but maybe that wasnt Ridleys original desire as far as what his idea of what these creatures really were. Maybe they put kids in space suits just to accentuate the difference in overall size comparatively...nothing more. Hell, they didnt even know that the movie was going to be a hit, why would they spend unecessary time and money to create some solid unbreakable back story. It took years for cameron to finally make aliens and he didnt have anything to reference except for Alien with all its unanswered questions. I wanted huge elaphanine creatures grown out of laser chairs(lol) and space ships that resembled alien hives, but alas, I didnt get what I wanted. But its NOT over yet everyone....maybe we shall get a surprise or two?

OvomorphMember3 XPSep-21-2012 9:47 PMi remember reading the comic aliens:the destroying angels, the depiction of the jockeys there is what what i would expected them to be but, then again we got the "engineers" . honestly this should have been a separate film not related to the jockeys i mean why cant the engineers and jockeys be two different beings, they should have left the jockey as a creepy elephantine creature as it was in alien and make a new being the "engineers" i don't see a reason for them being one and the same cause after all Prometheus's story was original enough to drift off of the "alien" storyline.

OvomorphMember40 XPSep-21-2012 11:04 PMWhat's done is done, also what is the big deal with the old Space Jockey? I know that classic scene was beautiful but now we know they are humanoid in space suits. I think that the idea of a spin off is not so bad after all because if FOX makes Alien 5 How would that be? just another scene of persecution between claustrophobic corridors of a ship? I don't know yet how all this will evolve but I really starting to like the idea of expand the mythology and away from the original concept.

But I saw the SpaceJockey SPACETIME TELESCOPE less as a laser gun and more as a 'device down which the fabric of spacetime can be funnelled' a sort of long-wormhole generating device. That's why I was so pissed off that the David/Shaw juggernaut seemed to take off using 'rocket fuel', ffs. Anyway, let's see what happens on 10 11 12...

OvomorphMember0 XPSep-22-2012 3:16 AM@ Big Dave, no, he wasn't kidding. He said it with that smarmy smirk he always wears when talking about something he's done. And I think it was indeed the Deacon he was talking about, because we find out halfway through that the Engineers *shudder* are our progenitors, so the only other option is the Deacon. I hate that name too, every time I see the American Dad episode "Deacon Stan, Jesus Man" I think of that thing now.......................
