OvomorphMember0 XPJul-26-2012 3:57 AMHi peeps it is Feebs here today :) I would like to discuss about news I stumbled upon during my search of new Prometheus stuff and I found here. Peeps I know it is alien language to you so I translate it to you in english:
Horrible scenery in Prometheus was too much - the boy was rushed to hospital Australian boy had sudden illness while watching new movie Prometheus. A disgusting scenery in sci-fi movie Prometheus was too much for australian teenage boy, who was rushed straight to hospital from the movie theater. 15-year-old is thankfully on the mend, says Australia's news.com.au, a News. Boy had this seizure, when one of the actress' (Noomi Rapace) had to make an emergency caesarean section. In Australia younger viewers can watch this movie without adult supervision. First the film was banned from solo-looking children under age 15, but the age limit was calculated down to the production company Fox's request. Site interviewed film professional, Joseph Sims who remembers Pulp Fiction caused similar scenes in 1994. - Although the film had a hard age limit, people fainted scene when John Travolta, gives adrenaline shot to Uma Thurman right into her heart, he says. James Franco's 127 Hours in turn caused a few years ago, in movie theaters, fainting, when Franco cut off his hand during a fierce scene. At least one of the movie the viewer is known to vomit in Franco's amputation.
There you go whole thing translated to you and now to the questions: 1.What do you think of this? 2.Was it even worth to publish? 3.Anything else? What I thought is that this is unnecessary scaring. You know this is Ridley Scott, you know it is Alien. And like the man said 127 hours had much more worse gore than Prometheus entirely itself. When I watched 127 hours I almost fainted too :/. Give me your thoughts peeps and be nice ;) Sorry about the grammar, wrote fast.

OvomorphMember0 XPJul-26-2012 4:10 AM@Freeze! The kid is Ok :) The movie already had high rating AND they were warned too. . . Prometheus has less scary scenes than Ju-On or the Grudge. Silly.

OvomorphMember30 XPJul-26-2012 4:26 AMI agree that kids shouldn't watch the movie without adult supervision ... But every movie maker must have some forewarnings ... Make it a habit... If movies can use disclaimer version like "this movie resembles no one dead or alive " and things like "cigarette smoking is injurious to health" sort of warning then yes the opening credits must say "not for the weak hearted" ... Just a different point of view...,

OvomorphMember40 XPJul-26-2012 4:31 AM1.What do you think of this? certainly there are people more susceptible than others and they should not see an R rated movie, but the truth is that Prometheus not scare. In fact even a clown scares more than Prometheus (no offense, because I do not hate this movie; but definitely is not a horror movie) 2.Was it even worth to publish? I don't know, because the people are responsible for their own actions. 3.Anything else? Yeah, What would have happened if Prometheus had been a real horror movie?

This basically means it had warnings at first but FOX wanted to lower them. Wonder did the boys friends or some one pressure him to watch it?

OvomorphMember0 XPJul-26-2012 4:39 AMBeing Australian, I have to say these kind of movies really do need to be put into an R category here. Instead, we shoe-horn them into the MA15+ category. I have a real problem with that.

OvomorphMember0 XPJul-26-2012 4:39 AMa friend of mine said A FAINTING WOMAN ruined his viewing of the opening night iMax version of Prometheus. What is it with all this 'fainting while seated'? LOL
2013 sci-fi horror novels 'Custodian' and 'Tandem' available from Amazon, B&N, iTunes etc...

OvomorphMember0 XPJul-26-2012 4:40 AMI just remembered how Ridley said in featurette " My plan is to scare the (...) out of you". Guess his dream come true then :D

OvomorphMember30 XPJul-26-2012 4:41 AMWhatever we say or do the 15 year old kid won't come back... Kids should learn to handle peer pressure ... So as to say if he was pressurised to see it ... It's sad anyways ...

Cypher

OvomorphMember0 XPJul-26-2012 5:01 AMI first watched Alien when I was all of 11 years old. Scared me, but I have never fainted from anything on screen ever.

Crabfart

OvomorphMember0 XPJul-26-2012 5:22 AMI watched the original 'the thing' when I was 7 and didnt faint and that was a million times worse than prometheus - its just bad luck for him! Some people can faint for almost no reason anyway -it extremely rare to faint sitting down! Fear is a strange thing and it also could be other things going on - dehydrated - maybe he stood up (much more common)?!

Feebs

OvomorphMember0 XPJul-26-2012 6:33 AM@Cypher+Crabfart I myself was 4-6 yrs. old when I first time saw Alien in Dark room. I was 7-9 yr. when I got hold of real Jhorror and other horror movies i.e. Urban Legends, Shutter (thai ver.), The grudge (American +Japanese) and some others. But more sensitive people should measure can they watch it. It's sad because you might ruin other peoples movie enjoyment and after that 2L coke and popcorn won't make it up to you :/. Being sensitive to gore and stuff does not make you worse movie viewer or something. Everyone have their own taste and limits ^__^ (i.o.w. I don't hate you).

OvomorphMember0 XPJul-26-2012 6:45 AMPrometheus is not a scary movie anyway... I think kids shouldn't watch this kind of films without adults or parents... And what about the age limit? Wonder where were his parents...

Xenomorph 54

OvomorphMember0 XPJul-26-2012 7:13 AMI agree with everything Shambhala said. Well, Prometheus was R-rated for some reason. I watched the exorcist when I was 11 I think and Alien when I was 8 and I didn't got shocked, but I'm sure some people would, they need to know themselves.

OvomorphMember0 XPJul-26-2012 7:18 AMYes, but it's not only a question of rating...The parents need to know their children: some get shocked easier than others.

PUNX

OvomorphMember0 XPJul-26-2012 7:19 AMMedia w*nk... This kid (and I hope he's alright) would have fainted anyway!, like when a film is blamed for someone commiting murder.. the same goes for music or anything the media can sell by using a name i.e Prometheus in this case. I feel sorry for this kid but the sarcastic part of my personalitie says "lightweight". A picture he saw or a traffic light changing could cause such a reaction, Prometheus seems far from scary. Like others have stated I saw the Thing, Alien, evil dead and others at a n early age (I'm near 40 now) and it never affected me like that. Ratting or not (I had a satistic older brother growing up who showed me these films, I really had little choice... yes peerpressure should not be aderred to only leads to an outcome that someone else wanted! I remember early Prometheus pictures with the tag-line FEAR and it ended up 15 and not 18 ...it seems although, that tag-line was dropped, that such a person with such reactions to a 15 film will have difficulty dealing with (the true horror at times)life! I do not mean to sound dismissive of someone that had a very real reaction... but it only made the news because of the names Prometheus and Scott... I remember the fuss and media of The Evil Dead...Press doesn't change... I thought we'd have learnt by now! like all entitys Meja(media) strives to stay alive, afloat and sensatiolism has always been their weapon of choice!

OvomorphMember0 XPJul-26-2012 8:16 AM@Feebs: Thanks :) This strange for me (without adult supervision etc.) because in here the age limit was 18... They weren't wanted to give me the fu*ing ticket :D

OvomorphMember0 XPJul-26-2012 8:29 AMJust imagine how many peeps lost their sleep or went into a coma at the release of the Exorcist.

OvomorphMember0 XPJul-26-2012 8:35 AM@Claudia I am glad to help. In here Finland age limit 15. Fox might have lowered it in some countries 'cause it is not that "scary" -_- @Punx The kid is ok, got treated well :). I kinda agree with you when it comes to these situation. If I understood well the kid was with some one besides that he was 15 yrs. old = he could be alone. It is not the films fault. @David 1 Have we already seen the huge gap between The Exorcist and Prometheus? HUGE DIFFERENCE !!

OvomorphMember0 XPJul-26-2012 11:06 AMI hope the child is ok... I even threw up a little in my mouth... seriously some folks do have real issues with certain situations, and it is very hard to predict just who might be effected.

Ruhaniya

OvomorphMember13 XPJul-26-2012 11:18 AMI I was 7 when I seen Alien...I only got to the chestburster scene. It scared the **** out of me so bad I couldn't go to the bathroom for a couple of days. Eventually with my over active imagination and stomach pain I had to go to the hospital and they removed the alien with an enema. LOVED THE MOVIE EVER SINCE!

sukkal

OvomorphMember0 XPJul-26-2012 12:21 PM Some people have what used to be called a "weak constitution" in English. It simply means that they are easily susceptible to "fits" or "fainting", etc. Many people faint at the sight of blood. Flashing lights can trigger epileptic seizures easily. They can also trigger migraine headaches. I know this personally. That's why I won't look directly at Spartacus’ Donnie Darko Bunny avatar even here. I'm sorry to hear the child had a scare, but anyone who's trying to blame the film is an attention-seeker (likely for all the wrong reasons).

Molecular

OvomorphMember9 XPJul-26-2012 12:27 PMWhen I first went to see Prometheus I was expecting the caesarian section scene to be much more intense, and I think it would have if Cuddles would have resisted the extraction clamps before he was out. It was a little disgusting when that sac popped and all that fluid fell on her abdomen. Chestburster scene in ALIEN was much worse, especially with John Hurt's face, which gives the impression that he's chestbursting constantly... LOL

Sky

OvomorphMember0 XPJul-26-2012 1:36 PMIt was not that bad. I guess that guy never saw animal planet or similar other nature channels.
Uncertainty is the only certainty there is, and knowing how to live with insecurity is the only security.

OvomorphMember0 XPJul-26-2012 2:09 PM@Patch the kid is Ok now. The boy should have known is he sensitive to this stuff and if you don't know it's understandable. If the scene is going he should have looked away :/ @Ruhaniya I had same imagination problem too and even now days when I scare myself i.e. slender man *shivers* @Sukkal one person commented into this and said that if it is real it is more horrible, like in movie it shouldn't "bother" so much. It is stupid to blame the movie. Just ruins the mood -__-* @Molecular yes they filmed Shaws expression more but for me the 'omg' was when she ripped the umbilical cord --> ouch! @Sky true, true *nod*
